There is NO DOUBT that Mr. Brat (an eco prof at Randy Mac) whipped Eric Cantor SOLIDLY based on the vast majority of his effort being on Cantor’s ‘weak’ amnesty policy ideas.
What is going on in TX and AZ this past week sealed the deal int he north of Richmond district, you can be sure. We don’t know if the folks there want crimaliens OUT, want them deported, going to the ‘back of the line’, are pissed over a secure border as a separate issue, or want judicidous more open and legal immigration.
But now that that is done, is this going to turn out to be another event where 35-40,000 TRULY pissed off republicans send a seat to the democrats because the center of the mass of voters is SCARED by what these 40,000 want (whatever that is, BESIDES ‘START THE REVOLUTION NOW’)?
My perception is that Cantor was pretty conservative, but SCARED that the ‘new’ and ‘incoming’ voters would make the R’s a permanent minority party (no such thing).
I know nothing else about Brat.
But here in Maine, a Conservative R just whipped someone who had been Maine Senate Pres, and backed by Sen Collins, et al in the center of the party as well for the right to try and take over LIBERAL D Mike Michaud’s seat (he is running for Gov).
Up here Mr, Poloquin has a rough road ahead. I have NO WAY to guess what is going to happen in the ‘Cantor’ seat.
It will be VERY interesting to see what happens not just there in Nov, but what happens to the republican leadership in BOTH the House and Senate over the next 3 years, especially if this does not dampen the chances of an R senate takeover.
