Anyone old enough to be cognizant of world events in 1975 has seen this before.
An American govt disgusted, fed up and impatient, with population tired of war turns it’s back and their former ally disintegrates, because the other side has a conscience which permits them any act.
We are EVACUATING Americans as I write this.
Thus ISIS.
Only this week Iraq was receiving late model F-16’s from the USA. Will they be operated b ISIS in a few weeks?
If we look at the map of the ISIS conquered territory so far, sweeping across Syria and all of northern Iraq, it includes almost all of a natural Kurdistan not in Iran or Turkey. The Kurds are our natural allies. The Kurds are the only folks there who actually can be argued to DESERVE our help.
Never mind.
But today with the IRGC and Iran calling for volunteers, and with Ali Sistani doing the same, the opportunity of a clash between a salafi caliphate funded by a DESPERATE KSA, and other GCC salafi states, and a Shia/Persian hegemony of vengeance over a possible regional empire from the Afghan border to the med is now in the offing.
The big opportunity is for Iran to win. THEY will get the backing of a state, and OTHER states. ISIS can only get $ surreptitiously.
Either outcome is HORRIFIC for the USA, but given our admin, and the population as they have been led, I am damned if I can see anything we can or are able to do SUCCESSFULLY.

Recalling essays past posted by Hugh Fitzgerald at JihadWatch.org, one begins to wonder if Obama is inadvertently revealing the true nature of Islam through his policy. Why express “worry” about sectarian violence between different sects of mujahedin, who otherwise would be devoting their energies to our destruction.
The Kurds will never be Arab, hence any future for Kurds depends on expendable energy the Shia or Sunni has for addressing them - eternally.
Islam is a self inflicted wound. The sooner the West realizes survival depends on excising Islam, the safer the world will be.
