The Simchat Torah attack is the 2023 version of the 1973 Yom Kippur war. The complete surprise – the governing paradigm, the collapse of the lines of defense – is very reminiscent of what happened here exactly 50 years ago. There's more to ponder, but for now, this is very grave, right down to how the army themselves don't seem to have been present at the Gaza perimeter, or seen the enemy approaching it. A really responsible intel service would've recognized and even made publicly clear that letting down our guard anywhere and everywhere could lead to such a situation. Instead, they downplayed the seriousness of the issue. Those responsible will have to resign and apologize. The IDF may have cleared all towns of vermin. But this fiasco is going to have a terrible after-effect for years to come.
In a well-synchronized and orchestrated move, Hamas managed to surprise even the best and brightest in Israeli intelligence and completely toppled the Gaza Division's doctrine, which relied in recent years on the security barrier that gave a false sense of security.
A similar scenario, involving infiltration, kidnapping, and a killing spree carried out under the auspices of massive rocket fire, has been discussed in recent years by the top brass in the IDF, only in regard to the northern border, after Hassan Nasrallah publicly announced in that he intends to "conquer the Galilee" – that is, to cross the border, enter residential towns and villages and kidnap civilians and soldiers. But no one expected that the evil would start from the south, and without any intelligence warning.
Ten hours after the start of the events – these are several of the difficult questions that someone will be forced to give answers at the investigative committees that will be established when the disaster is over.
Q: Where was the intelligence?
This is the first question that cries out to the sky. Just like 50 years ago, even if the intelligence had real signs of such an operation, these were not converted into actionable intelligence, and this complacency blew up in our faces with a colossal intelligence failure.
In the last few weeks, and even in the last few days, senior army officials have been heard talking about the fact that Hamas is not interested in escalating its relations with Israel and emphasized that the fact that thousands of workers enter Israel every day restrains the organization's leaders that are controlling Gaza, which wants to ensure the welfare of its residents.
Even though Hamas carried out a live drill of a crisis on the fence in the last two weeks, the intelligence assessment did not change. As part of that exercise, Hamas sent hundreds of rioters to violent demonstrations, similar to the violent Friday protests held in the months before the COVID-19 pandemic. A few days ago, and after several pinpointed signal attacks, the IDF believed that the problem had been solved when the minister of defense gave the order to continue permitting the entrance of workers into Israeli territory.
Not only that but according to a military assessment of the situation, the IDF, the strongest army in the Middle East, which prides itself on good intelligence in our region and perhaps in the entire world, reduced its forces in the Gaza Strip in recent months and transferred them to Judea and Samaria in order to deal with the wave of murderous terrorism. And when the intelligence did not give any warning, even not a hint, the IDF top brass did not train the troops, did not order the deployment of Iron Domes, and this most serious incident caught most of the senior IDF commanders at home.
Like in the Yom Kippur War, the entire political and security leadership is accountable for the failure. The dire result is that even hours after the start of the attack, which erupted at 6:30 AM, there were still besieged towns, terrorists barricading themselves in houses, and a significant number of civilians and soldiers who had been kidnapped and taken into Gaza.
All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

Complete failure of intel has responsibility for leading to this situation

Jerusalem Post editorial is right: left-wing must respect right-wing's right to govern
Israel went to the polls on Tuesday and in rather uncharacteristic fashion rendered a clear decision: Benjamin Netanyahu. It should also be noted that left-wing parties who campaigned on an "just not Bibi" slogan only hurt their campaigns even more, proving how out-of-touch they were with the public's interest in meaty platforms. That's why Netanyahu ultimately proved successful with the Likud's campaign, and the right-wing found success.
No hung jury this time, no tie, no waffling: The country wants Netanyahu back as the head of a very right-wing and religious government. The nation has spoken, and now it is time to honor its decision.
What does that mean? It means letting Netanyahu form a right-wing, very religious coalition. That is what the people want, that is what they voted for.
Israel voted for Netanyahu. Let him govern
And this is not meant to say to the country, as a parent might to a misbehaving child: “You made your bed, now lie in it.” Rather, this is just acknowledging that in a democracy, the will of the people should be respected, and the election results have made this country’s wishes known unequivocally.
In related news, Amnon Lord explains why Meretz, one of the most reprehensible left-wing movements in history, is now out of the Knesset, and why it's best their run came to an end:
The origins of Meretz, as the party has come to be known in recent years, hail back to some point in the first Intifada (Palestinian uprising) that began in late 1987. A newspaper report appearing in the Hadashot daily in May 1989 tells of the arrest of demonstrators from an elitist left-wing movement that arose during the Intifada, named the "21st Year" (an allusion to the results of the 1967 Six-Day War).Their associations with enemies of Israel are definitely disturbing, and explain perfectly why they're no loss to the Israeli political scene in the Knesset proper. A most shameful movement indeed.
They held a procession in Qalqilya, "threw stones at IDF vehicles... disturbed the soldiers from carrying out their activity and incited the local population in Qalqiliya to rebel. Among those detained was Zehava Gal-On, the director of the B'Tselem human rights organization, along with a group of theater actors and students", so the report claimed.
On occasions, Ratz was to turn into the parliamentary political front for anti-Israeli movements. Thanks to it, Israel became more and more tolerant of acts of cooperation with various forces operating against the state.
Only a week ago, an extremely important article was published in this newspaper by Hanan Greenwood, revealing the handbook of radical left-wing organizations that are essentially involved in acts of espionage against the IDF and the security forces in Judea and Samaria. Under the veneer of its public respectability, Meretz granted legitimacy for the overall activity of these organizations: B'Tselem (which was established at the beginning of the Intifada in 1988), Shovrim Shtika (Breaking the Silence), Yesh Din, Zochrot (Remembering) and other similar organizations that are routinely funded by various foreign organizations.
Anyway, with all that told, India's premier has congratulated Netanyahu on his electoral success:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates “my friend” Benjamin Netanyahu for his election win. There's somebody who knows how to maintain political relations without applying PC to them. My thanks to Modi for his alliances with Israel. Let's hope that with the current right-wing victory in the election, there'll be more promising directions to come.
“I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to deepen the India-Israel strategic partnership,” he says.

Biden against 9-11 victims
White House Democrats have a history of fighting against terror victims suing Islamic terrorists. The Obama administration battled American terror victims suing the PLO. In 2015, after they won a $218 million judgement against the terror group, Blinken, then only a deputy secretary of state, intervened claiming that the lawsuit threatened “several decades of US foreign policy.”It goes without saying that to undermine victims and relatives of such a barbaric act as the attack on the WTC only compounds the evils of the Democrats. Now, thousands of 9-11 victims have been desecrated as the result of far-left ideologies.
But now Biden is fighting 9/11 victims on behalf of the Taliban. At stake are billions being held by the Afghan central bank fund in the United States.
A decade ago, 9/11 families sued the Taliban, Al Qaeda and Iran. The court found that the Islamic terrorists were responsible and a judgement of $6 billion was handed down.
The verdict was described as "symbolic" at the time. CBS News commented that "it would be near impossible to collect any damages, especially from the Taliban or al Qaeda." But that was before Biden turned over Afghanistan to the Taliban. Since Afghanistan has assets in this country, including $7 billion in bank funds, it’s now entirely possible to collect that money.
Or it would be if the guy who let the Taliban take over wasn’t also in the White House.
Biden officially announced that he was splitting the $7 billion between the families of the victims and a "trust fund" to provide "humanitarian aid" for the people of Afghanistan.
But that was just another one of his many lies and double crosses involving Afghanistan.
The $3.5 billion was placed in a separate trust that would be "separate and distinct" from the around $800 million the Biden administration has already spent on aid to Afghanistan. Officials admitted that the money could actually be used for matters other than "humanitarian aid".
The media headlined it as, "Biden frees frozen Afghan billions for relief, 9/11 victims". But a Biden official admitted that it was done to stop 9/11 families from getting access to the money.

Some more reactions by people who worked in comics to the attack on Salman Rushdie
This is quite rich coming from somebody who took the role of a propagandist in favor of Islam (and even downplayed Iran's tyranny) when she wrote the Muslim Ms. Marvel book in the past decade. Now, she has the gall to address an issue she's unqualified for commenting on, where she'll doubtless claim the Religion of Peace was just "hijacked". If there's anybody whose word shouldn't be taken at face value on topics like these, it's Wilson, whose books should be boycotted.Just unreal. Just too awful. https://t.co/uyB1fFm05K
— Find GWW @ Table J-13 ECCC (@GWillowWilson) August 12, 2022
The second is Neil Gaiman, the UK-born scribe who penned the 1989-96 take on Sandman:
A hard day. Family sickness, a small boy's Rock Academy concert, things to write and watch and approve and change, and over and above all of it worrying about @SalmanRushdie.Texting mutual friends. Finding myself horrified not by the awful act but by the people who approve of it.
— Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) August 12, 2022
I fervently hope that @SalmanRushdie pulls through. He's funny, brilliant, dry, he has written beautiful wise books & I wish the people who think they hate him would read his words.(You don't hate Salman, who is a real person. You hate someone in your mind who has never existed.)
— Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) August 12, 2022
Well I think it's a good thing Gaiman's speaking Rushdie's favor. But, is he going to develop any books of his own employing themes similar to what the Satanic Verses contains? Let us be perfectly clear. If you're not willing to exercise your own free speech rights in protest of the tragedy Rushdie suffered through, your words ring hollow, and you're not accomplishing anything or doing justice for the victims of Islamic jihadism. This cowardice has practically led to the modern state of censorship that's affected much of the world, and while you may see some of these would-be auteurs recommending the books that started it all, they do not seem even remotely interested in emulating any of the ingredients the book contains, no matter what they say in their alleged solidarity with the victim of the horrifying jihadist crime.Midnight's Children is beautiful and a personal favourite, Haroun and the Sea of Stories/Luka and the Fire of Life are terrific novels for the young, Quichotte is brilliant, and The Satanic Verses is the novel that started the fatwa and the violence that accompanied it. https://t.co/rijnXEvBtX
— Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) August 12, 2022
And does Gaiman also condemn the threats that were made against J.K. Rowling? It should be noted that earlier, Gaiman signaled support for anti-Israeli propaganda, and in doing so, was letting Islamofascism - the very ideology Rushdie fell victim to - off the hook. Such leniency will not solve the issue, and Gaiman decidedly owes an apology for going by double-standards.

Bennett and Shaked both got yelled at by bereaved families during Memorial Day ceremonies
Prime Minister Naftali Bennet and Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked were both heckled while they spoke at different Remembrance Day ceremonies on Wednesday. No, he does not. It's utterly hollow words he's got at this point, and he's an absolute disgrace.
At Mount Herzl, dozens of bereaved families interrupted the prime minister's remarks during the state memorial service as he was beginning his speech.
"You should be ashamed of yourself," some of the protesters shouted, to which Bennett responded with "I love you all and I hear your pain."
In Petah Tikva, Shaked faced heckling on Wednesday when she spoke at a memorial day ceremony at the Segula Cemetery.Well the way she and her Knesset party boss have gone about has been an utter disgrace that's led to serious disasters that could've been avoided if they'd remained in a right-wing coalition, and not associated as they are now with leftist parties whose responsibility is far less. I can only imagine what kind of reception they'd get if they attended a memorial service with 9-11 Families for a Safe & Strong America stateside. They wouldn't be welcome there either.
Arik Hanan, who was grieving over his brother, heckled Shaked immediately when she started her address.
He called Shaked "disgusting" and called on her to "be ashamed" and to "go home."
The heckler was called upon to respect the ceremony by the host and by other grieving families around him. He responded that it was Shaked who should have respected grieving families by not coming.
Hanan said her attendance "spat in the face of those in grief" after government representatives were urged to not attend such ceremonies. He claimed that her government had approved stipends for terrorists.

Never Forget
It will never be distant history for me.
For me, it is as yesterday. And my anger still burns.
All those hours waiting to hear if two of my homeschool fathers were still alive. Phone services of all types were in a knot, and the wait seemed endless. Both of these men were unharmed, but one had a very close call: he was supposed to be in one of the Pentagon rooms directly hit that horrible morning. Thank God that he was called away to Capitol Hill a mere fifteen minutes before American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.
And who can forget watching live the collapse of the Twin Towers after being struck by American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175?
And there were those long minutes awaiting the location of United Airlines Flight 93. Thank God for the patriots aboard that flight.
Yes, eighteen years is a long time ago.
But not for me.
And I will never buy into the whitewash of Islam.

Names Have Meaning: Sri Lanka Suicide Bomber Mohammed Azzam Mohammed
"Mohammed Azzam Mohammed is an interesting name. Everyone has heard of Mohammed, but most people are unaware of the meaning of 'Azzam'" — pennant8 https://t.co/iqu71XSUfO— Always On Watch (@Always_On_Watch) April 22, 2019
From Wikipedia:
Abdullah Yusuf Azzam (Arabic: عبد الله يوسف عزام, ‘Abdu’llāh Yūsuf ‘Azzām; 1941 – 24 November 1989) also known as Father of Global Jihad[1][2] was a Palestinian Sunni Islamic scholar and theologian and founding member of al-Qaeda.[3] Azzam preached both defensive and offensive jihad by Muslims to help the Afghan mujahideen against the Soviet invaders.[3] He raised funds, recruited and organised the international Islamic volunteer effort of Afghan Arabs through the 1980s, and emphasised the political aspects of Islam.
Azzam was a teacher and mentor of Osama bin Laden and persuaded bin Laden to come to Afghanistan and help the jihad. As the war drew to an end, they both established al-Qaeda. He was also a co-founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Azzam was killed by a car bomb while within Peshawar, Pakistan in 1989.[10]

From At site of NYC terror attack, the school bell rang — then hell broke out:
Halloween turned truly terrifying for students and parents Tuesday when a driver went on a deadly rampage in front of several lower Manhattan schools — right as the afternoon bell rang.Read the rest HERE.
Kids ran screaming down the sidewalk after the killer plowed his van into pedestrians and then emerged waving guns and shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
“Two women and a group of children — maybe 10 children — they’re running towards me. I hear one girls screaming, ‘Someone has a gun!'” said witness John Williams.
Frantic parents feared the worst as they waited to pick youngsters up from Independence Primary School.
[...]
Students from Stuyvesant High School and Borough of Manhattan Community College made it out of class in time to witness the carnage — bodies laying lifeless in the bike lane and victims were trapped inside a mangled school bus....
Over the next few days, we will, once again, see the same pattern: mourning with prayer vigils with candles, the placement of flowers, balloons, and teddy bears — and whatever else.
And, of course, the intoning of "Islam is a religion of peace."
Advice to accept the new normal and the mantra, "If you see something, say something."
In other words, after a few days or maybe a week, a collective shrug.
But I, for one, cannot become inured to all this.
I refuse to become inured to all this.
I must not become inured to all this!
Because, if I do, I surrender my heritage as a Westerner.

President Donald J. Trump: "The West will never ever be broken"
![]() |
I caught the last ten minutes or so of President Trump's speech today at Krasiński Square, the site of a monument commemorating the 1944 Warsaw Uprising against the Nazis in Warsaw, Poland.
What a statement of the importance of national borders and of limited government!
But it was the words I cited in the title of this blog post that jumped out at me:
We no longer have an apologist POTUS. Instead, we have a POTUS who stands strong for the West — and without any mealy-mouthed whimpering about colonialism-based guilt (Zinnism).
Below, I have, more or less, cued up the portion of the speech that made me want to stand up and cheer. Worth your time.
Yes, President Trump uttered the words "radical Islamic terrorism."
Note: the full transcript of the speech is HERE. Check out those last several pargraphs. WOOT!

Stabbed In The Neck
We spend much time discussing jihadists. What of their victims, particularly their surviving victims?
![]() |
| Image credit: Candice Hedge, from Brisbane, was viciously attacked in the city's centre on Saturday night while having a drink after work. She has described the horrifying moment her throat was slashed. |
What kind of man looks a woman in the eye, then stabs her in the throat?
Candice Hedge, survivor of the London Bridge jihad attack, appears to have a "Panda tube" coming out of her nose. The Panda tube is a weighted feeding tube. Ms. Hedge probably sustained a tear in her esophagus. Thank God it was not her trachea!
From London attack: Australian woman Candice Hedge stabbed in neck (dated June 4, 2017):
An Australian woman has been left unable to speak after she was stabbed in the throat during the terror attacks in London, her family says.Read the rest HERE.
Candice Hedge, 34, from Brisbane, is recovering at St Thomas Hospital following emergency surgery for a knife wound to her neck.
"She can't talk. She's been stabbed around her neck, her throat. She's all bandaged up." her mother, Kim Del Toro, told Fairfax Media.
"She went into surgery, but she's going to be fine, thank goodness."
[...]
Ms Hedge has been living in London for the past year and she was working with her boyfriend, Luke, at a bar and restaurant in the Borough Market when one of the terrorists stormed the building on Saturday night.
"He heard some commotion out the front and went out to see what was going on," Ms Hedge's mother said.
"He saw some men with knives coming toward them, and he ran back inside to see where Candice was."
In the chaos, he couldn't find her and police yelled for everyone to stay down.
Then, she came running toward him, holding her bleeding neck.
He grabbed her and the two of them took an ambulance to hospital....
What will Ms. Hedge's life be like from this point on? The Panda tube is typically a long-term medical device, and such a device typically requires daily or every-other-day maintenance as long as the device remains in place.
And after the Panda tube is removed, will Ms. Hedge's throat still hurt every time she swallows? A slash into any part of the body typically causes nerve damage, damage which can persist lifelong.
Survivors of jihad attacks may persevere in spirit, but their bodies may still suffer for the rest of the survivors' lives.
