American Islam, moderation, NYT, Dawa, and the doorbell

One of the more annoying instances of something that interrupts you from everything, and many of you americans reading this will appreciate this, is that saturday ring of the doorbell, bringing you from lunch, mowing the back yard, squaring away the kids, considering your wife's fine Rene Russo like statuesque being, watching the pre-game show, mentally swearing at the federal govt(repub), state govt(dem), local govt (I don't know and I don't care- that govt is so physically oriented ..FIX THE POTHOLES ! - I don't even want to know), NYT, Boston Globe, CNN, reminding yourself to call your mother, yes, all the stupid ruminations of the post bourgoisee life - and arriving at the door to find two nice looking young men in suitswith small backpacks.

Sometimes you see that comic magazine looking WATCHTOWER, or sometimes you see none (Mormons). Once it was a born-again group.

Now my wife, who has a hard time turning away magazine salespeople at the door, never hesitates, and simply points to the little brass Torah-looking like thingy in the doorjamb (as if that is some world class recognizable coke bottle image) thinking this must be as obvious in self description of our household as lambsblood over the doorway on the night before the angel of death obliterated the firstborn of egypt, and says 'we're real serious about that'. They leave politely.

Always.

But why is it annoying? And why is it pointless? Are they a dawa like threat?
