Image of U.S. falls again

WASHINGTON As the war in Iraq continues for a fourth year, the global image of America has slipped further, even among publics in countries closely allied with the United States, a new global opinion poll has found.
Favorable views of the United States dropped sharply over the past year in Spain, where only 23 percent now say they have a positive opinion, down from 41 percent in 2005, according to the survey, which was carried out in 15 nations this spring by the Pew Research Center. In Britain, Washington's closest ally in the Iraq war, positive views of America have remained in the mid-50s in the past two years, still down sharply from 75 percent in 2002.
Other countries where positive views dropped significantly include India (56 percent, down from 71 percent since 2005); Russia (43 percent, down from 52 percent); and Indonesia (30 percent, down from 38 percent).
In Turkey, a NATO ally of the United States, only 12 percent said they held a favorable opinion, down from 23 percent last year.
Oh they like us less...oh no... and where?
Spain, excuse me Al Andalus, Indonesia (where it was pointed out HERE that our aid does nothing to change their opinions..thus it is PREJUDICE), Russia, where they can't any democratic gains, and Turkey, where they prevented us frm landing the 4th ID in 2003.
Apparently what makes one popular in todays culture is being a victim, thus we peked immediately after 9/11. But to actually commit acts in one's interest is a violation of victimhood.

topo - what a factless load..there is NO EQUIVALENCE between 3,000 people being incinerated having coffee at work, and the response TO 3,000 people being incinerated having coffee at work.
If ANY NATION cannot respond to evil, because in war innocent people WILL get killed evil wins 100% of the time.
The inability to be perfect in avoiding useless death is NOT a reason not to act in one's interest. Perfect isn't the enemy of good. That's why when we take out a tank, we use a concrete non explosive kinetic weapon to kill the tank under the bridge and SAVE the civilians ON the bridge. Contrast that with the recently dead heathen barbarian zarqawi who gloried in the name of god with a ginstu and hostage necks.
We kill the military and make every effort to spare civilians, our ENEMIES make a point of killing the helpless, IN THE NAME OF GOD

I used to see people JUST LIKE YOU across voter registration tables in the south in the mid 60's. We called them the KLAN. There is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in that line and what they said. And in that line you have proved the point being made by MANY historians right now...there is scant difference between historical (and modern) anti semitism, and modern fundamental antiamericanism. You are the KKK. There is no difference between what you say and want (transparently, btw) and what they say, have said and want. CONGRATS !
