I'm asking here because I'm not really sure where else to ask and hopefully some of our readers might have a clue.
What I want to know is what is the oldest a person (non-Israeli) can volunteer for the IDF. I'm almost 24 and was hoping to volunteer in just under a year but from what I'm reading the oldest you can be is 22. This doesn't seem to make much sense though as you can be a reservist till 40-ish. Does anyone know if 22 is the max age? Is there anything else similar I can do if that is the case?

I don't know the age limit, which some here might, but regardless of whether you are acceptable to the IDF you can still volunteer for service in ways other than military, which is likely not what one would expect in the first place. As a foreigner, you will not see combat as an IDF member unless it's from the enemy. Your job, should you choose to accept it, would be as rear support at best. The Israelis do not want you getting hurt. You might not be upset about the risks, but the nation is hurt if you are.
I'm roughly twice your age, and I too might volunteer for service if the conflict continues apace, and I will go to Haifa if possible to work in whatever capacity I can find employement, not something one would expect to find a famous blogger such a myself doing, no doubt. The work will likely be supplying factories and warehouse with materiel, i.e. loading and unloading trucks. Life goes on even in war zones, and people need food and supplies that they must often get from over-seas and must pay for by sending out exports.
If you're looking for some adventure, then the best you might do is gaze at the rockets' red glare from a distance-- if you're lucky.
Let Pastorius know how you feel about it and perhaps we can co-ordinate.

this is what I keep hearing Dag, i guess this is the difference between Islamonazis and the IDF. Whereas the Islamonazis would gladly strap you (as a foreigner) with bombs and send you on your merry way, the IDF wouldn't. It would be a dissapointment if I couldn't do some real front line duty, but I guess every job is important.

Its very simple:
I am doing this same thing right now.
You do see full active duty as a foreign volunteer.
You do have to be Jewish (meaning you must have a Jewish Mother).
The age limit is 23.
I served in Shlav Bet at age 27-29
