London Daily Mail Poll: Who Poses The Bigger Threat To The UK?
1) the end of oil as a major form of energy FOR THE WHOLE WORLD
This is would be a good thing and needs to happen ASAP...for both environmental and resource security... power my 6.0L attack truck (SUV) with a green power source.
2) the USA would have to become colonial imperialists after the old British model and take over the entire ME and exploit their resources.
This is already defacto the case...dependent on a few 'conditions'...is it such a bad thing....?...A pragmatist may say 'Alternatives please...?'
Imperialists, or Imperialism No. That wouldn't have my support. Potentially a force for stability and dare I say it being a silly Liberal...Human rights? I favor a Commonwealth model of allied nations, each with a say and a vote. That would be fair. From a Pragmatic stand point...necessary, not however a burden the US should shoulder alone. The reality of such an undertaking though....!Hmmm America and Imperialism, a whole other debate. Oh and re the British empire, the USA already wields ENORMOUS global influence and as such already has informal empire. Anyway don't get bogged down here...again a pragmatist...is this a bad thing? Who would you rather had this influence? Iran? Russia? China?
Watcher, What I am proposing here is not as insane as it might initially sound. After all, if the only way the world is to survive is if we take the power out of the oil-producing Muslim nations of the world, ought we not get paid for it?
If we are the policemen, and let's face it, there is no one else up to the task, then we ought to get paid.
Sadly, this is very likely the way this world war is going to be resolved.
Think about it, my friend. Think about it. Where else is it going to go? What are we supposed to do if they won't stop? Murder them all? Now, that would be wrong.
On the one hand we have to think beyond the profit/money motivation because the nature of the threat is cultural aswell as economic and military, '..getting paid' shouldn't enter into the debate. The cause is more fundamental and noble (or should be) than a purely geo-strategic resource grab/adventure of an ambitious government...No, the true threat is from a Nuclear/Biological armed,technological, hostile Islamic state actor (Long term China). We already have a clear candidate for that bogeyman. Leave this situation to simmer for a few more years and the regional capabilities of that nation become inevitably global capabilities as technology inevitably advances. In a very few years a hostile Islamic State will be able to hit us in our homes...en mass. Now multiply the number of Hostile Islamic state actors by X....I'm worried.
On the other hand, a war cannot be pursued without resources. America shouldn't be made to feel that it is the American tax payer that is saving the world (again!), no doubt this is how America feels right now. A global effort or more accurately a common wealth of those opposed to Islamic aggression should/probably will be formed, not long after the first global act of aggression by an Islamic State actor. It is inevitable, not 'if' but 'when'. So a withdrawal from the world and especially the ME is self defeating.
On getting paid, Economic benefit is a necessary factor for ALL of those who are engaged in this early part of our fight for survival. If the conquered can be evolved 2000 years or so, then even better....
It is against the ethical stance of the Judaeo Christian world to wholesale exterminate an entire people, yet the behavior of the Islamists increasingly pushes the West to 'reach' for that button. I don't favor extermination, I can't....yet even the practical implications for hegemony make it appear an impossible task....frankly with the Islamists, I would consider even them developing a sense of respect for Women (or just not killing them or treating them as chattel) virtually hegemony. Either way we have to pitch up ideas no matter how far out or radical. I would hope that we are intelligent enough to come up with an alternative to an extermination....as this I cannot support....evolve them (though it feels impossible)...exterminate ...no.
I don't think the way to evolve them is to allow them to make their own decisions. I think it is to raise them up over several generations under a Judeo-Christian-based regime.
The organization Muslims Against Sharia has the right idea. Sharia must be abolished. The Islamic world is very, very large. Sharia is not going to be abolished easily, or overnight, or without great expense.
Therefore, the concept of "getting paid" to do the work is hardly an idea which is born of greed.
Instead, it is an idea that will be born of necessity.
You and I may live to see this stuff play out. I am virtually certain that I am right.

I agree. This war is ours to lose. Our enemy is so stupid that things like crayon drawings and Piglet send them into an outrage.
This war is like fighting a bunch of three-year olds with guns.
If we would just decide to put all the three-years-olds in permanent time out, we'd be fine, but we can not bring ourselves to do so.
Hegemony would be preferable to permanent time out...although perhaps an impossible task...Ideas?
