Penn and Teller

Something about the Second Amendment Today. . .

Saw this a month or so ago and a post at Mad Ogre reminded me of it. One of the best explanations I've heard yet. As likely, or more so, than all the others.

Essentially, militia and people are not the same here. The people have the right to keep and bear arms to regulate the militia. The Founders recognized that a militia was necessary, but also knew it could be used abusively, having just fought off such a thing. So they said the people shall also have the right to bear arms to protect themselves against such a thing.
