It's OVER, only 53% in USA think capitalism is better than socialism

RASMUSSEN:

Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are not sure which is better.

Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided. Thirty-somethings are a bit more supportive of the free-enterprise approach with 49% for capitalism and 26% for socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.

Investors by a 5-to-1 margin choose capitalism. As for those who do not invest, 40% say capitalism is better while 25% prefer socialism.

There is a partisan gap as well. Republicans - by an 11-to-1 margin - favor capitalism. Democrats are much more closely divided: Just 39% say capitalism is better while 30% prefer socialism. As for those not affiliated with either major political party, 48% say capitalism is best, and 21% opt for socialism.

Anyone else ready to go get a govt paid job as janitor paying 65k with 8 weeks vacation within few years (we want to be europe, don't we?), paid health care and the rest?

Put it on cruise and forget it ladies and gents, the schools since 1967 have taken the young and killed the founding brothers' idea

This is the age of entitlement, and a desire for life to be worry free as the main entitlement.

READ IT ALL

Scotty, there must be somewhere left. Find it, quick.

Epa -- are you & Pasto channeling each other today? http://ibloga.blogspot.com/2009/04/death-of-america-only-53-of-us-say.html

:)

Don't call Scotty. He's at the pub toasting the loss of a Great Country. His transporter doesn't work anymore since Uncle Barry started mandatory reductions in electrical use to save the planet. . .

Got to run, but it just showed up on FOX that Brown University has changed "Columbus Day" to "Fall Weekend" after "Native American" students at the school complained.

What's the status of so-called "Native American" tribes? Do they benefit from the Constitution? If they are separate "nations" and not really Americans, what the hell business is it of theirs what we name our holidays?

And if they are longing for the "good old days" I'm sure there are plenty of tribal-based societies in Africa, Arabia, Siberia, etc., who would be happy to take them in. Or would they rather just get drunk on the "reservation" and sulk about the buffalo being gone?

My ex went to Brown, so let me quote one of the chants sent their way by fans of opposing football team: "What's the color of bullshit? Brown, Brown, Brown!"

from Last of the Dogmen:

"What happened was inevitable. How it happened is unconscionable".

My country may not have always been perfect in how they treated the American Indian but the idea of the Noble Savage is a myth as well.

Sooner or later someone was going to come to the New World and displace whomever was here. Has happened over and over again down through history and will continue to happen. They have been allowed to assimilate into American Culture or live on their Sovereign lands (the Reservations).

Which is far more than Islam will allow us if they take over North America.

midnight rider,

Yeah that's way more then the new barbarians will allow, if they are able to overrun us.

revereridesagain,

About the native Americans. There still around, including the Apache. In fact, I heard about one of them, on show on Spike, called "Ultimate Warrior" who actually helps train our military's special forces, using their ancient stealth/ambush combat tactics. Show their warrior culture's skills are of use to us in modern warfare.

I would wager up to half the people who think they want "socialism" have absolutely NO IDEA what that means.

In the car today I heard part of Hannity's show - he was interviewing people in their 20's. He asked whether they believed that Americans should get what they need from the government, and that Americans who could afford to should give the government what they had. A bunch of these people said "well, yeah, that sounds about right." When told that Karl Marx had said that, several people said, (and I paraphrase) "well, I really don't know what Marxism is about."

Yeah - that told me all I needed to know about many of those who say they "want socialism."

Complete ignoramuses. By design, of course.

Ro,

Probably not entirely by design.

Ro & Damien -- they are ignorant of history and by design or their own self interest and apathy remian that way. The "me" culture. It's old shit what's it to do with me?

Those who do not learn from history. . .

midnight rider,

.... Are bound to repeat it. I know the end of that statement.

But I think that at least some of the blame for their ignorance lays with themselves. Many of them, probably never even considered studying up on even basic economics or history, and could have taken at least sometime out of their day to do so.

I would imagine the argument extends to communism as well. It would be great to round up all those who think communism is cool and those wearing Che t-shirts and send them to Russia, or North Korea for a taster and then see how they feel about it. No free speech, the rewards of hard work being only what you need whilst your leader lives in luxury, faschist police enforcing the totalitarian ideology, no vote, draconian punishments for even small violations of the ideology.

These idiots who want socialism must have no clue about it. Britain is virtually socialist and it sucks. We have massive government who interfere in every part of your life. We have to deal with bin inspectors who enforce the rubbish and recycling policy with £50-£100 fines ($75-$140), Diversity Officers whose job it is to ensure that all minority groups are represented in the workforce, Counicl investigators using anti terror laws to spy on people suspected of breaching the no smoking ban or playing their music too loud (in their own homes) or dropping litter. Massive Government = Massive control of your life and the power to take everything away.

Losing America to socialism would be a tragedy of the ages.

Just Cause,

Actually, by the standards of the old soviet union, and modern day Cuba, Britain is practically a pure capitalist society. Now imagine how bad things would be for you, if they ever fully embraced socialism.

Yes. Exactly what I mean when I refer to the "me culture. Too busy about their next cellphone call or reading facebook to sutdy a little history.
