OMG! A *gasp* Black Man Openly Carrying Guns Outside of Convention Center Where Obama was Speaking!
Considering that Obama’s purple-shirted SEIU jackboots beat the snot out of a black man in St. Louis for protesting against Obama’s Health Care Deform, is it really that much of a mystery as to why Tea Party protesters are showing up with their guns?
Unlike most Lefturds and Libtards, the majority of Tea Party protesters, like myself, are proud gun owners who believe in the God-given right to self-defense. Not to mention that we are real big on that whole Constitution thingy. So, if Obama’s purple-shirted jackboots are going to play rough in an attempt to violate our Right to Free Speech, as they did in St. Louis and Tampa, then they best be prepared to suffer the consequences. Obviously, it wasn’t a very wise move on the part of Obama’s jackboots to attempt to intimidate us through violence—NEVER piss off a “gun-clinging, Bible thumping ” Conservative; we know how to instantly restore our Right to Free Speech.

Man with assault rifle at Obama rally sparks concerns
Scott Wong – AZCentral
A man carrying an assault rifle outside the Phoenix Convention Center where President Barack Obama was speaking today has renewed concerns about protesters bringing firearms to presidential events.
“It is extremely disturbing that you have that kind of weapon in close proximity to where the president is,” said Ruben Gallego, a military veteran and Arizona Democratic Party official who observed the man.
[Maybe it is disturbing to him, but I find it quite comforting to know that the Secret Service has some citizenry backing them up in case things go south.]
“He was demonstrating his Second Amendment rights,” Gallego added, “but he was clearly there to intimidate people who were there exercising their First Amendment rights.”
[Uhm, who was he trying to intimidate there, Mr. Gallego? The other Tea Party protesters? I think not! "Clearly," he was there to PROTECT those who were exercising their First Amendment rights, you pustulant ignoramus!]
Neatly dressed in a white shirt, black tie and gray slacks, the man, who only gave his first name as Chris, also had a pistol holstered at his side as he engaged in heated debates with those rallying in support of Obama’s heath-care reform plan.
[Yeah, r-i-i-i-i-ght. More of that "angry mob" propaganda from the media. Unless, of course, the writer of this article meant to imply that he was "packing heat" while socializing. ]
A Phoenix police spokesman said plainclothes detectives were monitoring about a dozen protesters carrying guns, though no one broke any laws or was arrested.
[So, what's the problem?]
Arizona is an “open-carry” state, which means anyone legally allowed to have a firearm can carry it in public as long as it’s visible. A permit is required if the weapon is carried concealed.
[Hey, if Obama and his sycophants don't like it, then just steer clear of Arizona from now on! End of imaginary problem! Besides, I'm sure Sheriff Arpaio would greatly appreciate it if Obama kept his Pinocchio nose out of Arizona's business.]
“Because I can do it,” Chris said when asked why he brought guns to the rally at 3rd and Washington streets. “In Arizona, I still have some freedoms left.”
[Remember: If you don't use your Rights, you'll lose your Rights.]
[...]
In response to the armed demonstrators in Phoenix, Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, called on the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups to tell their members to leave their weapons at home when attending presidential events.
[Oh, the Brady Campaign, eh? As if anyone in the NRA is going to care what the heck those Constitution shredders have to say.]
“Individuals carrying loaded weapons at these events require constant attention from police and Secret Service officers, thus stretching their protective efforts even thinner,” Helmke said. “The possibility that these weapons might be grabbed or stolen or accidentally mishandled increases the risks of serious injury or death to all in attendance.”
[Sheesh! What a crock! The reality of it is that the more guns there are in the crowd, the less likely a nutcase is going to be insanely stupid enough to (A) grab someone's gun, and (B) try to take a shot at anyone, let alone the Resident in Chief! Obviously, any gun grabbing nutcase would become an instant water sprinkler before he even had a chance to chamber a round. Nope. The Secret Service is probably more concerned about the guns they don't see, than the ones they do see...]
Calls to several NRA officials in Arizona were not returned.
Probably too busy laughing themselves silly about this whole thing!

Gun-Rights Advocates Join Obama Protests
Monday, August 17, 2009 5:55 PM
PHOENIX -- Gun-rights advocates are displaying their firearms near the president again, this time with a military-style rifle slung over one man's shoulder in downtown Phoenix.
The man with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle was among about a dozen people carrying guns outside the convention center where President Barack Obama spoke Monday.
Other people have been visibly carrying firearms near Obama's events recently. During a health care town hall in Portsmouth, N.H., last week, a man stood outside with a pistol strapped to his leg.
Phoenix police say the people with guns, including the man with the rifle, don't need permits. No crimes were committed, and no one was arrested.
The man with the rifle told The Arizona Republic he was carrying the weapon because he could, adding that he still has some freedoms in Arizona.
and again ALL legal
And, if you look closely at the pictures, he actually has 2 guns (THE HORROR!). The AR-15 and a pistol on his left hip cross draw style.

NOTE, TOO, HE IS CARRYING A SPARE LOADED MAGAZINE LEFT REAR POCKET.
He takes this seriously :)
And he's so well dressed. Must be the type Babs the Boxer complained about.

Actually I think everyone is behaving just right.
It's legal.
The Secret Service is nervous.
They and the cops observe.
Maureen Dowd can just tough it out.
I disagree with the idea that this man went to the rally carrying his gun as a means of intimidation. He is doing it as a means of expression of the Second Amendment.
I seriously doubt the man believed he would use his gun on SEIU thugs, even if they beat him.
The Tea Party protestors are only trying to remind America about the Constitution. That's the point, from what I can tell.
As I said, I think we may be seeing the beginning of the end of the Republican Party. I believe it will be replaced by some form of the Tea Party, and it will be more focused on the strict Constitutionalism.
The American People know that there has been a long drift away from our Founders. And, they want to turn that around.
Interesting idea.
No repubs....they are splintered, but so are the dems now as the blue dogs are waking up to recgonize how different the left end of the party is from being elected in upstate NY or Nebraska
Epa,
Yes, that's true. And, call me crazy, but I don't think of strict Constitutionalism as being left or right wing. I think it is moderate or centrist. Not in the sense of being compromising, splitting the middle and lacking moral compass. It's just that our Constitution provides for people to live their lives the way they want to live them. This means you can carry loaded weapons, and it means you can be gay and have gay street parades, and it means you can argue for more taxes for schools, and others can argue against more taxes for schools, and then we settle the problem through Legislation.
Some Tea Party people are nutty extremist Libertarians who, many times, basically believe that all taxation is theft.
But, strict Constitutionalist aren't that way in general, nor do they have to be.
So yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the new party that emerges is an amalgamation of Dems and Repubs who are just sick of their own parties.
By the way, I am still basically a Democrat, and I'm guessing you would say that you are too.
I believe in Unions. I don't believe in what they've become.
I believe in gay rights, perhaps even including marriage, cuz I just don't much care about the issue.
I am not a strict anti-abortionist. However, I am morally very much against women having multiple abortions. I think abortion should not be used as a means of birth control. Women who have more than two abortions are simply not being responsible. Birth control does not go wrong that often.
I am a fundamentalist Christian, in that I believe the Bible is the Word of God, but I don't believe that anyone else has to believe what I believe. I believe in Freedom of Conscience.
More than anything else, it is the issue of Freedom of Conscience which makes me so opposed to Islam. Women, gays, and apostates are simply denied the freedom to follow their own Consciences under Sharia law.
Think about it, the Democratic Party used to be the Party that always stood for Freedom of Conscience.
That is no longer true.
As we've both said before, our Party left us, we did not leave our Party.
It never occured to me he might be carrying it because of SEIU thugs. I just thought he was exercising his rights. AS WE ALL SHOULD.
And, as it was intended, it reminds the people who need to be reminded that we will not be easy push overs.
When people fear the gov't vs when gov't fears the people.
my first opinion of why they might be "carrying" was express and show they have second amendment rights as free men. and not to intimidate but to show they have the will and means to protect themselves from intimidation.
as a gun fanatic who owns mostly military style rifles and pistols, and a few sporting long guns and used to be a member of the NRA and jpfo (jews for the preservation of fire arms org.) I really should re-up my membership... any way im a vet who loves guns and beleives in the second amendment.
anyway im still leary of taking a rifle to a political rally. im not sure it advances the agenda of traditional america or hinders it. and some of the toters are turning out to be pretty dubious characters.
anyone care to throw thier two cents out on why it is positive or negative
NEVER piss off a “gun-clinging, Bible thumping ” Conservative
YUP!
“Because I can do it,” Chris said when asked why he brought guns to the rally at 3rd and Washington streets. “In Arizona, I still have some freedoms left.”
Oh, gotta love this one. This guy's got balls. Its hard to find people like him in this politically correct BS spewing world.
Rumcrook,
I find it funny that I, a guy who is not really into guns, am apparently more "extreme" on this issue than you are.
Here's the thing, I do not see a difference between the first and second Amendments. I see them as being two parts of a whole.
In other words, I believe the 2nd Amendment is given to us by God to back up the 1st Amendment, which is;
1) Our Right to Free Speech
2) Our Right to Freedom of Expression
3) Our Right to Freedom of Conscience
As I understand it, this man did not carry his gun into the hall in which Obama spoke. I do not think anyone should be allowed into range of the President with a loaded gun (other than the people who are assigned to protect the President).
What this guy did, as I understand it, is show up OUTSIDE a place where Obama spoke.
He has his right to do that. He expressed his right according to his own
1) Freedom of Speech
2) Freedom of Expression
3) Freedom of Conscience
He was entirely within his rights, as granted by God, not by man, not by the Legislature, not by the President, and not by the Judiciary.
Please, tell me if you disagree. Because I would love to hear a reasonable argument against my opinion.
Virginia is an open carry state too. **smile**
Town hall coming next week in Northern Virginia. **smile again**
So will a certain blogger we all know and love be exercising her Second Amendment right openly as well? ;>)
