To play devil's advocate, the warning box depicted on Beck's program appeared to be very prominent - the message was not easily lost in the fine print locked behind a link to a link to a link.

Yet, one has to wonder if this degree of data mining is embedded in other .gov websites where the warning is not brought forward in such an overt way? I personally dismiss the privacy box if the opening paragraphs appear to be the standard limitations of the 1974 privacy act - as Beck did.

Who spends the time to read every line of the privacy & security statement of every site?

This is all very very creepy.
