MR Update 7:51 pm -- MSNBC now reporting 13 killed, 30 wounded. On Fox Congressman John Carter 2 suspects released but ANOTHER has now been picked up. Also, per someone else on Fox (didn't catch the name) the 2 released may have actually been trying to STOP the rampage
Update -- Fox news interviewing 6:15 EasternTexas Congressman John Carter -- he states his information from the scene is the two in custody have been released and they are now looking for another shooter. (MR)
UPDATE:
One of the shooters is identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.
Hes' dead, two more in custody.
According to Midnight Rider, whom I just spoke to on the phone, Sheperd Smith is reporting on Fox News that Malik Nadal Hasan (quick note/clarification: Smith & Kay Bailey Hutchinson "refused to give the name they had" until they had it "from the Army officially". "But it [the name] says alot about this shooting, doesn't it?" one of them said -- MR) was motivated by his anger at being deployed to Iraq.
DON'T BUY IT. Shep is wearing his Boa again.
Malik had this planned with his two buddies. This is not a lone nut gunmen situation. This is a well-planned out terror attack.

There was just a briefing from a 3 star general, says there are 12 dead. Shooter had 2 weapons. Confusion about the other two "suspects". He says all 3 are "soldiers".
From NBC:
The official would not give his name nor additional details. It was unknown whether victims are soldiers or civilians. One gunman was reportedly in custody and another was on the loose, NBC News said. A third shooter may be involved, according to NBC News affiliate KCEN, which said the person had opened fire on the SWAT team at the base.
KCEN reported that a policeman was among those shot.
KCEN in Waco reported that the second suspect may be holed up in a building on the post.
Greg Schannep, an aide to U.S. Rep. John Carter, told the Austin American-Statesman that he was on the Army post to attend a graduation service. He said that as he neared the entrance of a building where the service was being held, a soldier with blood on his uniform ran past him and said a man was shooting.
Schannep told the newspaper that the shootings appeared to have occurred in a complex near a theater where the service was scheduled. He was with the injured soldier, who he said appeared to have been struck in the shoulder but did not have life-threatening injuries.
According to unconfirmed reports, one of the shooters was being surrounded by police in the 42006 building on Fort Hood. That source told KCEN the shooter has a high-powered rifle.
The base was reportedly on lockdown. The Killeen Independent School
Temple ISD is on a "soft" lockdown. Parents will be able to pick their children up at the normal times, though they may experience delays.
Fort Hood is adjacent to Killeen, and 60 miles northeast of Austin. The sprawling complex is home to at least 4,929 active duty officers and 45,414 enlisted. Civilian employees total nearly 9,000.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Lee M. Packnett said he was unaware if security measures were put in place at other military bases.
“At this point I do not know,” Packnett said.
President Barack Obama was briefed on the shootings, according to spokesman Robert
Fort Hood has seen other violence in recent years. In September 2008, a 21-year-old 1st Cavalry Division soldier shot his lieutenant to death and then killed himself. Spc. Jody Michael Wirawan of Eagle River, Alaska. shot himself to death after shooting 1st Lt. Robert Bartlett Fletcher, 24, of Jensen Beach, Fla. to death.
This breaking news story will be updated with more details.

and it's guy fawkes day
Atlas has a link to the FOX chat room, they're getting live reports from people actually on base. (Along with a lot of idiot commentators.)
Fox is also reporting thrity dead, maybe 3 shooters AND 2 different shooting locations, one of which is a theater on the base as well as shots heard at a soldier's residence.
Try the local Austin and Waco Texas news stations. They apparently are more accurate. They are reporting definitely 3 shooters, one still on loose. The theater may have been where the grad ceremony was being held, one shooter was at the PX/Commisary and now the live chat is reporting shooting at that soldier's residence.
The FBI is reporting "no terrorism". Well, what the hell do you call it then?
There was just a briefing from a 3 star general, says there are 12 dead. Shooter had 2 weapons. Confusion about the other two "suspects". He says all 3 are "soldiers", no ID beyond that.
Pastorius,
If this is not terrorism than what is it?
political correctness - even at the Pentagon- will not allow the wording-'islamic terrorism'- even if it is >>>>wait and see...it will be 'cleaned up'!
Malik Nadal Hasan
Waiting for the names of the other two who were captured. Right now this sounds to me like jihad. If there were 3 conspirators and they are all muslim they will have one hell of a time trying to explain this away as anything else.
One blogger said that one of the suspect is a major by the name of Maleek Hassam. Yoube the judge, it was planned. God bless our soldiers and those 11 soldiers and police officer that died. Now msnbc confirmed it.
Revere Rides Again
Even if this turns out to have nothing to do with Islam at all, this still has the ring of terrorism to it. If people behind this turn out to not be Jihadists after all, this does sound like an act of terrorism. Does it not? Could people behind this be white supremacists? They tend to hate the US as well.
Oh, I think there is no doubt this is the work of Islamic Jihadis.
It is now being reported that the shooter was a "recent convert" to Islam. I'm waiting to see what their definition of "recent" is. The other two have not been named yet and there is probably an incredible level of damage control and spin going on right now.
Pastorius,
Now that we know, one of the names, it does sound that way. We should find out soon enough.
I wonder if the Major had a run in with any pro-"peace" groups which discouraged him to do his duties within the military.
RRA,
When I was at the gym, on the treadmill, I was watching the news, which they play on a screen with the scrolling words for deaf people.
Wolf Blitzer was interviewing some lady who, I would swear, said something about this being the work of "white supremacists."
I scoffed out loud.
Of course, the other people around me were watching some stupid Hilary Duff video on a another screen, so they had no idea why the lunatic on the treadmill was laughing at CNN.
I thought, as soon as I heard this, that it was a Jihadi attack?
Why?
Because of the number of people dead from a "shooter" (in other words, from guns) on an army base (which you can't get on to if you don't belong there), where everyone would be armed.
It had to have been the work of multiple people. That much was obvious.
But, I showed restraint and did not jump to any conclusions.
But, now we know.
Michelle McPhee on our local radio station just pointed out that the jihadist from Sudbury, MA, who was arrested was planning this sort of attack with co-conspirators. The Joint Terrorism Task force got this bastard, who was working at a pharmacy and lived right across from a school and senior center.
This should be no surprise.
It's true that an inside conspiracy would be more likely. Those guys would never have gotten onto our local AFB without military ID and/or inspection of the vehicle.
So 1 shooter 43 killed or wounded in short minutes. The shooter is a psychiatrist (not a regular foot soldier -- for lack of a better term -- who would handle guns daily) and many or most of his victims are Army who, presumambly, would not have stood around to be lined up against a wall and shot.
Anyone -- especially fellow handgunners -- understand HOW he could do that, with just 2 handguns?
Something not quite right yet. Maybe clarification in the next briefing.
As long as the giant health care bill get passed in Congress this weekend...
Glad to see you posted Pastorius, when it just broke at around 3:45pm, more or less, I had an odd feeling in my gut.
And the FBI had to backtrack after categorically telling Fox sources this was "not" terrorism???? Do they even have primary jurisdiction there....dhimmitude beyond belief.
Napolitano is in England at a conference about home grown terrorism, go figure!
BTW, wasn't the mere election of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., going to usher in an age of peace, love, harmony and general kumbaya, especially from our Muslim both here and abroad?????????????
@ MR, makes no sense only two handguns being used, at best what 15 rounds to clip???
Oh, no need to look for a statement from CAIR, just note that the mere mention of his name and allusion to his religion will be, in it of itself, denounced as racist and nativist, right wing rhetoric
MR - we don't know what this guy's background training may have been even though he was a psychiatrist. On the other hand, he may not have gotten his training in the military but elsewhere in the northern Virginia area if you get my meaning.
There's a live feed from Hood on FOX right now so apparently another briefing is coming up.
I will be you that there were people in the military all the way from Walter Reed to Hood who saw this guy was up to something and couldn't get anything done about it because of his "religion". I watched a satanist do it 25 years ago and the muslims are putting that in the shade.
if boy scouts raped little old ladies
instead of helping them across the street
how many raped little old ladies
do you suppose it might take
before an angry nation
would sit up wide awake
CAIR's Goebblesque rhetoric, don't be fooled:
Noting the Arabic nature of the gunman’s name, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington interest group, condemned “this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law.”
”No political or religious ideology could ever justify or excuse such wanton and indiscriminate violence,” the council said in a statement. “The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering both prayers for the victims and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured.”
R muslim soldiers going to be required to attend 'sensitivity training' yet?
One shooter kills or wounds 43 people with two hanguns in just a few minutes?!?!?
Yeah, that sounds plausible ...
NOT!
They don't have to bother selling us the Brooklyn Bridge, or swampland in Florida, they already sold us Barack Obama.
Of course that is a lie Pastorius...no way with two handguns, however many clips he had, within the time frame specified.
This is being spun for PC purposes, not to offend the devotees of the "religion of peace."
BTW, on a related matter that new film 2012, the aetheist, anti Christian, anti organized religion, director destroys Cristo Redentor statue en Rio, the Vatican but not that shitty monument in Mecca because he did not want a fatwa on his ass....
You'll be happy to know we posted on the 2012 atrocity here a couple days ago.
Congrats to you on the Yankees win. I watched the game. I was rooting for them.
The Phillies would have won if they would have piled on that Hamel guy, kicked his ass, and kicked him the hell out of the locker.
But, since they didn't do that, they showed they were just as big pussies as he was.
The Yanks don't lose to pussies.
remind me to inform about the exponential recruitment of the followers of islam since 2001 to at least one academy---now there is a mini-mosque there-- (where officers are trained)...
One commentator said a 9mm. So maybe 15-17 rounds per magazine. Then having to swap mags is a two handed operation. SOMEONE would have been charging this guy. Handguns have to be a close range (25 yrds & under to be effective and it was likely multiple shots to each victim so far more than 43 shots PLUS reports of both pistol and automatice gunfire yeah, either a 2nd shooter or this guy had more than 2 handguns.
MR,
Am I wrong to presume that, at a military base, guys would be armed, or have access to arms?
This is totally ridiculous.
This is worse than the Virginia Tech shooting. If there was only one guy, why is it that it took so long to kill him?
Actually may be a bit incorrect. On a base (my understanding) it is usually only MP's carrying guns with regularity. The regular arms are closely monitored, checked in and out etc.
As for the rest of your question I'm not buying the single shooter story, at least not just with 2 handguns. I don't think we know yet how long it took to bring him down although he killed a cop in that firefight. Still don't know what those 2 that were arrested were up to. Were MP's in the building or nearby? Hopefully that press conference will clear alot up, once they have their story and decide they're sticking to it.
Thanks Pastorius, I appreciate, been a long time, 9 frickin year.

Sorry I missed the 2012 commentary, been backed up.
This Jihadist trash is now apparently alive and not in critical condition????
