Every administration has done this. Why do we need a resolution on history? I'm sure there are more pressing needs.

I don't remember other presidents doing this, but I didn't know as much in the past and maybe I wasn't paying attention. However, even if what you say is true, about every other president doing this, its still a bad thing. What if we allowed the head of any other government any where in the world to just make lite of the Holocaust or deny it even happened without protest, including maybe even a future German leader? Now do you see why this is such a big deal? Denial of genocide is not something that we can just let go unanswered.
Besides, why should we give into the demands of foreign governments, when it comes to what we teach in our schools, and not teach unpleasant facts about their history, just because they don't want us to?
