NYTimes/AP: Egypt to Pay for Restoration of All Synagogues Egypt will shoulder the costs of restoring the country's Jewish houses of worship said the culture minister Tuesday, two days after a historic synagogue in Cairo's ancient Jewish quarter was rededicated in a private ceremony.BRAVO!
Farouk Hosny said in a statement that his ministry views Jewish sites as much a part of Egypt's culture as Muslim mosques or Coptic churches and the restorations would not require any foreign funding.
On Sunday, the Ben Maimon synagogue, named after the 12th century rabbi and intellectual Maimonides, was rededicated in a ceremony including half a dozen Egyptian Jewish families that long ago fled the country.
Hosny committed his ministry to restoring all 11 synagogues across Egypt, three of which have already been renovated. The best-known synagogue that of Ben Ezra, is located in Cairo's Christian quarter near a number of old churches and was restored years ago.
NOW THEY SHOULD ALSO PAY RESTITUTION FOR ALL THE PROPERTY THEY CONFISCATED WHEN THEY EXPELLED THE JEWS IN 1956.
NOTE: BEFORE MUHAMMAD CAME THROUGH AND USED TERROR AND GENOCIDE TO CONVERT NORTH AFRICANS TO ISLAM, THE WHOLE PLACE WAS JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN.
IOW: ISLAM IS THE INVADER.

Lets hope that this is a sign of things to come. I won't hold my breath, but maybe this will eventually lead to them being more tolerant of other religions in general, especially if every attempt to destroy the non Islamic societies and all they hold dear ends in failure from this point on. One can hope, but lets not operate on that assumption.
I think this might have to do with the recent Great Arab World Suckup to Israel.
They want Israel to bomb Iran, so they're sucking up.

Maybe. I don't know. Than again, even that could be somewhat of precedent. However, like I said, I'm not going to hold my breath.
I think anti-Semitism is inherent in Islam.
It is also inherent in Islam that Muslims use Dhimmis to do their dirty work.
So, it is not surprising that one would take precedent over the other for a period of time. But, in my opinion, Jew-hatred is the stronger force in Islam.
After all, it does not say in the Krayon that taking advantage of Dhimmis is the last thing that will happen in the world.
The last thing that will happen before the finally victory in Islam is the stone and the tree will say, "Hey, there's are Jews hiding behind us, come and kill them all."

It may have more to do with Egypt-Israel and the Muslim Brotherhood and HAMAS becoming too much to leave around to grow any further.
Bu while the egyptians are at it, HOW MANY JEWS ARE IN EGYPT after the escape 3200 years ago this month?

All that maybe true, but this is a little extreme as far as sucking up. Showing any tolerance for non muslims will encourage them to demand more. So if you think about it, this is a bit odd. Plus people are rarely logically consistent all the time, if ever.

The Turks stormed a synogogue last week and demanded identity cards. The Turks are taking names and drawing up lists. Surviving Armenians have many a story to tell which would explain this theory.
The Egyptians are more likely to be baiting their Jewish population into a false sense security (Treaty of Hudabiyya). Once these structures are refurbished, and the population which has a vested interest in making them as appealing as possible, and the work is complete the Egyptians will cleanse the communities of ethnic Jews and these newly refurbished structures will likely be converted to mosques.
NEVER TRUST A DEVOUT MUSLIM.
This is just the same thing as Nazi Germany. The Nazis wanted all the Jewish paintings and religious objects they could get their hands on. Their objective? To have a museum dedicated to the "race" that they destroyed.
Really, does anyone honestly think Egypt is doing this as a gesture of good will toward the Jews? I think it is just a show and a way to tell the world how they ran the Jews off and stole their properties and their lives.

Your theory that it is a trap sounds accurate to me. If it is a trap, then it is a very unsubtle trap. But, this is Islam we're talking about, after all.
