PUT IT IN FUCKIN' NEUTRAL AND APPLY THE GOD DAMNED BRAKES!
HerRoyalWhyness wrote to me and asked if this was me in the video.
It is NOT me. However, I showed it to my wife, and her response was, "It sure sounds like you."
One time, when I was a brand new driver (within the first six months of my having a license) my accelerator pedal stuck on a left turn at a major intersection.
I slammed on the brakes, but
MY CAR WAS HEADED DIRECTLY FOR A GAS PUMP IN A CORNER GAS STATION
I had three other guys in the car with me. They were scared out of their minds.
Luckily, I am blessed with calm in extreme situations, and my mind works very fast. I thought through my options, and figured out that if I would put the car in neutral, the brakes would stop the car no problem.
And, of course, it worked.
So, my question is, how is it the media does not think to report this simple solution?
Are the media too stupid to know the solution to the problem?
Or, does the media simply not care about the human element of this story?

One time, the accelerator on my '64 Dodge Dart "stuck."
Guess what?
I got the vehicle stopped. It didn't "run away" but a few blocks.
Question: Is driver's ed a failure? Just askin'.
