Stryker Corporation has announced that it will close its facility in Orchard Park, New York, eliminating 96 jobs next month. It will also counter the medical device tax in Obamacare by eliminating 5% of their global workforce, an estimated 1,170 positions.
Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation, one of the largest medical device and equipment manufacturers in the world. Stryker’s grandfather was the surgeon who invented the mobile hospital bed. The company now sells $8.3 billion worth of hospital beds, artificial joints, medical cameras, and medical software every year.
Stryker, a member of the Forbes 400 list, was one of the top five donors to the Obama campaign. Having donated $2 million to the Priorities USA Action super PAC, Stryker also gave $66,000 in contributions to Obama and the Democrat Party.
Prior to the 2012 election, Stryker contributed millions to help Democrat candidates in his home state of Michigan. He also gave nearly $250 million to groups supporting gay rights, transgenderism, and the conservation of apes. In January, his Arcus Foundation donated $23 million to Kalamazoo College for an endowment to fund a center for social justice leadership.

Our Founders warned us that Liberty is nothing without Goodness.
We have lost our decency. We think only of ourselves. We vote for ourselves. We vote for gifts, for patronage. We do not vote for Liberty.
We have reaped what we sowed.
If we want to change, we need to change. Change is not going to come from within the dead body of "America".
"America" has died. But, it's ideas continue to exist and will always exist, because they are true.

Feelings (Obama) disconnected from business reality (Romney)
FEELINGS WIN EVERY TIME
I will not blame this on Romney. Not that I ever thought Romney was the right candidate, but it is not right to blame it on the man when he ran a good campaign on ideas that we all generally share.
Romney, unlike McCain, genuinely did a good job.
Stryker, huh?
The Stryker frame is used to help paraplegics and quadraplegics -- who would have zero change of any kind of recovery. Many who do not have access to a Stryker frame die.
It's not Romney's fault (unless you want to blame the 47% comment). Voters vote their feelings. Not enough could make the correct decision based on their wallet past next month. They voted for the guy who made the FEEL safe. The guy they thought could feel for them.
Call me crazy if you want, but I was never sure the fall of the Soviet Union was good for the free world. It's true, it liberated millions from under the boot of Communism, but it also took away the only balance which prevented unleashed capitalism. The results are in the open. Without the threat of the ogre, capitalism could run unopposed. Corporate Pac Man games left people in the street after years of helping build the corporation and all they got was a kick in the behind and a handshake. Monopolies somehow managed to jump over rules and regulations that had kept them at bay in the past, and we ended up with the aggressive accounting that brought Enron to the ground, and the operational "creativity" which only aimed at breaking rules and pushing the legal limit. I don't know. I don't have a degree in political science, but I sure know that this new world Sucks, with a capital "S"
I did not study Economics. Nor did I study Political Science.
I would assume the line of thinking you are referencing there is common in those pursuits.
However, I will admit, I have never even considered that question.
I never thought the Soviet Union acted as a balance against the behavior within the United States.
I only ever considered the Soviet Union to be a geopolitical balance.
