Richard Rojas - POS

Heavy.com 5 fast facts:

"The NYPD said within an hour after the crash that the incident is not terrorism but is possibly related to drunk driving."

Yet...from DNAInfo
"The 26-year-old man, who lives in The Bronx, was driving westbound on
West 42nd Street when he turned north on Broadway around noon and jumped the curb, traveling several blocks before crashing to a halt near the George Abbott Square pedestrian plaza south of the TKTS booth, according to officials and local elected officials.
"Bodies were flying, he was running over people, it was like nothing I’d ever seen," said Julie Fallo of Hoboken, who was visiting in Times Square with her daughter and niece. "Everyone thought it was a terrorist attack and ran into buildings screaming. People were trying to get off the street... he never slowed down. He gunned it right into the people. He looked like he accelerated."
"There was bodies everywhere, flying left and right."
There were at least 19 people hurt, fire officials said.
Police led the suspect in handcuffs through Times Square and put him into a police SUV. Asked whether it was believed to be terrorism, they said they believed it was an "isolated incident."
Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought to the scene just after 12:15 p.m. and the entire stretch of Seventh Ave. between 42nd and 57th streets was closed in both directions.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said that the motorist struck 23 individuals. 22 were injured and one young woman was killed.

He said the perpetrator, identified as 26-year-old Bronx-resident Richard Rojas, is a U.S. citizen and Navy a veteran, with a criminal history.

De Blasio said that there is no indication that the incident is related to terrorism, though he understands how a tragedy in Times Square could make people think of that.
