Muslim Dating Game: Turkish man seeks new lover on TV show after killing two others

Yes, that's right. He has murdered TWO previous partners, a wife and a girlfriend.

ISTANBUL: A man who appeared on a Turkish television dating show in search of a new partner shocked the audience by revealing he had murdered his former wife and a former lover. 

Sefer Calinak, 62, told Flash TV's "Luck of the Draw" he had served prison sentences for each of the murders and had been released under an amnesty programme. 

"I'm an honest person looking for a new wife," he told the show, saying he killed his first wife because he was "irritated" by her behaviour and murdered a subsequent partner because he thought she was after his money.

Although the overwhelming majority of honor killings worldwide occur within Muslim communities, one would not know this by reading the mainstream media. Fearful of being labeled "Islamophobic," the American press has given only glancing attention to the widespread, honor-related ritual murder of Muslim women in the Middle East and South Asia while treating periodic honor killings among Muslim immigrants in the West as ordinary domestic abuse cases.

Over the last few years, however, the media has published a flurry of articles about Hindu honor killings in India, the only non-Muslim-majority country where these murders are still rampant.  Apologists for Muslim culture and civilization rushed to herald the upsurge in Hindu (and Sikh) honor killings as evidence that the practice is "a universal problem, not an Islamic issue."

While India is indeed a striking exception to Islam's near monopoly on contemporary honor killings, the following preliminary statistical survey shows Hindu honor killings in India to be different in form and commission from those of Muslims in neighboring Pakistan. Though no less gruesome, the Hindu honor killings seem largely confined to the north of India and are perpetuated by sociocultural factors largely specific to India. The millions of Indian Hindus who have immigrated to the West do not bring the practice along with them.

The recent spike of honor killings in India is likely the product of a clash between traditional and modern values, intensified by high economic growth and increasing social mobility. The spike may also reflect growing media coverage of this crime. The democratically elected government of India has taken important, if long overdue, steps to combat the practice of honor killing, and some progress has been made.

Not so in Pakistan where officials at all levels of government are either unable or unwilling to cope with honor killings. For Pakistan and many other Muslim countries, which have yet to experience the social stresses of rapid modernization or build the kind of political institutions that can eradicate a practice so deeply rooted in traditional beliefs—especially as Islamists now dominate—the worst may be yet to come....

Chechen President Approves Honor Killings

ACHXOY-MARTAN, Chechnya — Chechnya's government is openly approving of families that kill female relatives who violate their sense of honor, as this Russian republic embraces a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam after decades of religious suppression under Soviet rule.

In the past five years, the bodies of dozens of young Chechen women have been found dumped in woods, abandoned in alleys and left along roads in the capital, Grozny, and neighboring villages.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov publicly announced that the dead women had "loose morals" and were rightfully shot by male relatives. He went on to describe women as the property of their husbands, and said their main role is to bear children.

In this small Chechen village, residents talk about the teenage girl who was killed in early February after she spent a night at her boyfriend's house.

The 16-year-old's body was wrapped in a traditional rug and returned to her mother's house. Her relatives are suspected of killing her in the name of family honor.

To escape the strict mores, some of the young opt for early marriage, which they view as the gateway to independence, sexual activity and societal respect. That goes for young Chechen men, also.

Abu-Khadzh Idrisov, 20, married in his teens to simply experiment, he said. His first marriage at age 14 lasted barely a year. He married a second time at 18. He spotted his future wife at a park in Grozny and, with the help of his friends, kidnapped her.

"When I married her, I honestly knew only two things: her name and the school she studied at. We talked together once," he recalled. "But we have traditions and extremely strict rules in Chechnya, and you can't just ignore them. I carry my family's name, and if I tarnish it, I will have problems."

Over and over again, we here at IBA and elsewhere post stories along this same line of the barbarity of fundamentalist Islam.

My concern grows that we are preaching to the choir and that the rest of the world really is buying into the idea that Islam is a religion of beauty and peace.

Is it even possible to counter the whitewash of Islam before the ground is littered with bodies mutilated or dead at the hands of fundamentalist Muslims?

Yet, we infidels who woke up largely as a result of 9/11 slog on. Until the day that we are censored from sounding the alarm.

CNN is apparently willing to include the words “honor killing” and “conservative Afghan” in its news reports but is unwilling to say that the honor killing was mandated by Islamic teachings or even mention that the murderers were Muslims. Instead, the word “conservative” has the effect of comparing such nasty people with the Christian right in America.

The most tragically ironic aspect of this story is that the man who murdered his daughters and tried to cover it up, said that he killed them because they “betrayed kindness.”

This CNN news report is a must-see for the network’s bias. It fits right in line with the network’s history of running interference for Islamists.

They were Pakistani immigrants. Telegraph:

The daughter, 20-year-old Nosheen Butt, was admitted to hospital with a cranial traumatism and a broken arm after her 19-year-old brother beat her with a stick in the courtyard of their building in Novi, near the north Italy city of Modena.

According to Modena prosecutors' initial findings, the father Ahmad Khan Butt, a 53-year-old construction worker, threw his wife to the ground and beat her with a brick while the brother Umair attacked his sister.
"The victim did not want her daughter to have an unhappy relationship like the one that had been forced on her," said deputy Modena prosecutor Lucia Musti, who is in charge of the investigation.
"The mother and the daughter were on the same side and this could be called a 'cultural' homicide because in addition to domestic violence there is the issue of the traditions that may have motivated the crime," Ms Musti said.
The family's three other children have been taken in by Italian social services.
The Italian political class reacted with indignation at the incident which was highly similar to the cases of a girl of Pakistani origin in 2006 and a Moroccan girl in 2009 who wanted to lead Western lives with Italian boyfriends.

Egypt: Two brothers "honor killed" their sister

A young man in Egypt goes to a party seeking drugs and prostitutes, discovers his sister there. He later beats her to death with his younger brother, then stabs and burns her. The brothers were sentenced to a year in jail.

Alliance of Civilizations and gender equality, of course. Specially when the brothers have been sentenced to one year in jail. Just to have an idea of proportions: blogger Abdul Karim Soliman was sentenced to 4 years in prison because he allegedly insulted Islam and Mubarak.

Tulay Goren murder: ‘honour’ crimes doubling every year, figures show

“Honour killings” are now running at the rate of one a month, it has emerged, following a shocking rise in violent crimes committed in Britain in the name of religion.

The number of murders, rapes and assaults on people who dare to break strict religious or cultural rules is doubling every year, police figures show, with up to two violent “honour crimes” being committed every day.

But charities which help victims of honour crimes say the true extent of the problem is far worse than the statistics show, as every year hundreds of vicitms – normally women – are too frightened to report attacks or to give evidence in court.

The escalating problem was highlighted yesterday as an Old Bailey jury convicted Mehmet Goren, 49, of the cold-blooded and premeditated murder of his 15-year-old daughter Tulay after she fell in love with someone from the “wrong” branch of Islam.

Miss Goren disappeared 10 years ago after telling a friend she might be pregnant but justice caught up with her father after his wife “courageously” testified against him and lifted what was described as the “cloak of secrecy” which surrounds honour crimes.

A prosecutor said the case was a “wake-up call” to the authorities over the extent of the problem in this country, which campaigners say is growing because of the rise of religious fundamentalism.

Miss Goren and her family had nine contacts with police in the days before her death, during which they complained of violence by Goren, but officers had little understanding at the time of the concept of honour crimes and she was left at the mercy of her father.

The court heard that Miss Goren, whose Turkish Kurd family are Alevi Muslims, was drugged, tortured and then killed by her father after she fell in love with a Sunni Muslim twice her age. Her body has never been found.

Miss Goren’s sister Nuray Guler told the court, the teenager had been “caught in the middle of two clashing worlds” and pleaded with police to stop other women falling victim to “this primitive custom”.

She expressed fears for the safety of her mother Hanim, whose evidence against Goren had put her own life in danger. “No one should fail to realise what this means within our culture,” she said.

“These people do not forget.”

The next episode in the legal battle between Muslim-turned-Christian convert Rifqa Bary and her allegedly abusive parents will occur next Tuesday in an Ohio courtroom. As I reported last Friday, one of the issues that will be heard by the court is a motion by the CAIR-appointed attorney to the Bary parents demanding that all Christmas cards sent to Rifqa be banned, and any cards she has already received be seized. On Monday, we provided clear evidence of CAIR's backstage handling of the media in this case.

Another issue next week will be another motion filed by the Bary parents asking the court to hold Rifqa in contempt for refusing to attend counseling sessions with a Muslim counselor. Amazingly, the counselor that the Bary parents are attempting to force her to see filed a affidavit supporting the parents' motion to hold Rifqa in contempt of court. How could this counselor be remotely neutral?

But wait a second - haven't all the media stooges in this case, from Meredith "Hijab" Heagney of the Columbus Dispatch to Michael Kruse of the St. Petersburg Times, insisted that the Bary family intends to respect Rifqa's Christian faith? Haven't these media stooges repeated assurances from the Bary parents that Rifqa has nothing to fear from returning home?

Don't expect these damaging revelations about the parents' duplicity to be reported in the Columbus Dispatch, friends. Behind the veil of sealed court motions the true face of Mohamed and Aysha Bary is being revealed. Her parents have defamed Christians who have attempted to help their daughter flee their abuse; they have filed criminal charges against Rifqa accusing her of being a delinquent; and now they ask the Ohio courts to ban and seize Rifqa's Christmas cards and to force her to see a Muslim counselor that has demonstrated his own partiality. What this long sequence of events clearly shows is that Rifqa Bary has much to fear from being returned to her parents and that they have no intention to honor her personal religious choices.

Hopefully, the courts will recognize what's going on in this case and dispense justice, not political correctness.

METRO…The sister of an alleged “honour killing” victim screamed with anguish at her father as she faced him across a courtroom today.

Nuray Guler shouted in Turkish and gesticulated wildly at Mehmet Goren during an outburst as she gave evidence at his murder trial.

Mrs Guler, 28, let out a prolonged and piercing wail before walking out of the court in tears.

Mehmet Goren is alleged to have killed Mrs Guler’s sister Tulay, after consulting with brothers Ali and Cuma, because she fell in love with the wrong man.

The 15-year-old schoolgirl went missing in January 1999 and her body has never been found, Old Bailey jurors have been told.

Mrs Guler today told the court that her father had threatened to kill Tulay the day before she disappeared.

Instead of filling out that cute little form to contact Governor Strickland of Ohio -- ask yourself, is this a person I want having my name, address, phone # and email? -- I emailed his media rep, Amanda Wurst, at amanda.wurst@governor.ohio.gov and gave her the irate RRA treatment in living CAPSLOCK. Not sure how much effect this will have, but if it gives her a bad dream or two (say, stark nekkid in front of the FOX News window on 6th Avenue, NYC, at 8 a.m. fielding questions from Pam and Robert) I will have done my duty.

Anyway:

Dear Ms. Wurst

Since nothing else seems to get through to the authories in Ohio with regard to the case of Rifqa Bary, let me suggest that Governor Strickland picture the following: "Something happens" to Ms. Bary as a result of her being returned to the family and Muslim community she has repeatedly stated wish to kill her for her "apostasy". Subsequently, the sidewalks in front of the Governor's office, the Franklin County Children Services, the Noor Mosque, and other places of intereSt, fill up with outraged Americans exercising their First Amendment rights (the ones the likes of CAIR would prefer to erase under Sharia law), carrying signs in which these words figure prominently: FRANKLIN COUNTY CHILD NEGLECT -- NO MORE HONOR KILLING -- NO SHARIA LAW IN US -- YOU SAID SHE WAS SAFE -- CAIR IS THE "MUSLIM MAFIA" -- with similar sentiments being shouted aloud ON CAMERA. FOX News at the very least will carry the story nationwide.

Think we won't show up? Check out the videos of the court hearings and the one from that little "Tea Party" march down in D.C. a few weeks back. I'm a retired lady on fixed income with a 10-year-old car but you can bet that if that child is harmed as a result of the neglect of the authorities and the vicious "cultural custom" known as "honor killing" and the arrogant Islamist belief that they have the right to murder "apostates", I will hit the road from here to Ohio to add my voice to the rest.

Now, don't waste time sending me any silly emails about "community harmony" or "moderate Muslims" or "religious tolerance" (they don't have any, in case you haven't noticed), because you have something better to do with your time: Tell Governor Strickland to consider if prostrating himself before the "Muslim community" by putting Ms. Bary at risk is worth the chance that he'll be wrong AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY WILL BE HEARING ABOUT IT LOUD AND CLEAR.

Father Runs Over Daughter For Being Too "Westernized"

PEORIA, Ariz. (CBS/AP) Police believe a 20-year-old girl was run over in a Phoenix suburb because she had become too "Westernized." And the man they suspect was behind the wheel was her own father, an Iraqi immigrant.

Police say 48-year-old Faleh Hassan Almaleki of Glendale allegedly ran his daughter over Tuesday at an Arizona Department of Economic Security parking lot in Peoria.

The victim, Noor Faleh Almaleki, who lives in Surprise, Az., a Phoenix suburb, remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A second woman, 43-year-old Amal Edan Khalaf suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police say the women are roommates.

Cynthia Diaz, who witnessed the crash, said Noor Almaleki was unconscious and bleeding from the nose; however, Khalaf was able to communicate.

"I asked her specifically, 'Do you know who did this?'" Diaz said to CBS Affiliate KPHO. "She said yes and she gave a name."

Police said Faleh Almaleki was last seen driving a gray or silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with license plate No. ADS-9192.

A Song for Rifqa

FOX is reporting that the Florida investigators claim to have found "no evidence of a threat" to the life of Rifqa Bary if she returns to her family in Ohio. Hey, no evidence of conspiracy was found at the Noor Mosque ("who, us?"), the Barys deny that they have any intention of harming their daughter ("who, us?"), and Muhammad Bary denies he ever slapped his daughter upside the head for being reluctant to wear the hijab in public ("who, me?").

I hope and trust that Rifqa's legal and support team have been prepared for such a development and that there are still some brave souls amongst the Florida authorities who will not conclude that this relieves them of the responsibility to ensure Rifqa's safety.

A terrible honor killing in Egypt

I have not found this in English so I translate what I have found: Un padre encierra a su hija un año y la tortura hasta la muerte en Egipto – Antena 3 Noticias

A father shut his 23-year-old daughter down in an obscure room during one and a half year, offering her little food and drink, and tortured her to death in a clear case of honor crime, according to Egyptian daily ‘Al Ahram’.

The 55-year-old man had heard rumours about his daughter’s behaviour: she had a relationship with a boy who she was supposedly to marry with.

Her father’s relatives, from Egyptian city of Miniya, south Egypt, were offended by the bad fame she had and menaced the father not to let him enter the city if he didn’t kill her daughter. The man, who worked as a porter in a building of Old Cairo, told the police that he chained and tortured his daughter to kill her and send her corpse to his family in Miniya to beg for their forgiveness. The murderer’s neighbours told the police about the crime before he could flee with the corpse.

The family is as responsible for this murder as the murderer himself.

CNN currently is running a series of articles about Islam in America, in conjunction with an investigative feature about “Generation Islam” by Christine Amanpour that will air on CNN tonight.

So far, the articles seem to have had the general intent of challenging the stereotype that American Muslims are mostly a bunch of violent zealots.

And clearly the large majority of American Muslims aren’t. But as demonstrated by this video of a terrified Muslim teen from Ohio tearfully explaining why she believes her father intends to kill her for converting to Christianity, it’s simply not possible to portray Islam as a “religion of peace” that can be situated comfortably in the American mainstream.

Media reports indicate that the Muslim father denies his daughter’s charge that he plans to take her life in an “honor killing” because of her conversion to Christianity. And certainly he could have no intention of committing such a heinous act.

But it’s not fanciful on the part of Fathima Rifqa Bary — who fled the family home in Ohio last month to seek refuge with a Christian couple in Florida — to believe that her father might intend to do so; the death penalty remains the punishment for apostasy in some Muslim jurisdictions. And honor killings of Muslim women by other family members are by no means unknown in North America.

Bary bravely declares in the video that she’s willing to be martyred for her Christian faith, should it come to that. But she’s overwhelmed by fear over this possibility. And she insists that non-Muslims who would dismiss her fears as unfounded “don’t understand” the ugly reality that these sort of killings are regarded as acceptable and indeed as virtuous by many devout Muslims.

Like it or not, that’s another aspect of the contemporary face of Islam.

Spain: Muslim stabs his daughter 20 times in attempted honor killing

Our Spanish contributor, Spanish Pundit, sent this along to me (from Jihad Watch) with a note saying that the story is getting NO press in Spain. The story is being disappeared. You know, like in a totalitarian state:

A manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. In accord with this, in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

Why does it matter that the practice of honor killing has Islamic sanction? Because if the roots of honor killing are never discussed and always ignored, the practice will never stop. Until the Islamic roots of the practice are discussed openly and human rights groups begin calling for reform, honor killings will continue in the Islamic world -- and in Muslim communities in the West.

The Basque Autonomous Police (Ertzaintza) detained on Sunday night in Portugalete (Vizcaya) a 43-year-old man of Maghrebi origin, accused of stabbing his 20-year-old daughter 20 times and of hurting another two sons, according to the Basque Interior Department.

The attack began inside the family’s home, in Ruperto Medina’s st, when the man stabbed his older daughter. Her teenage brothers, another girl and a boy, tried to end the quarrel and got hurt. She has a cut in one hand. He fell off the stairs.

Both of them suceeded [sic] in fleeing the house asking for help, while the stabbed girl got in one neighbour’s house. But the father followed the first ones and had a hard discussion with his son in the street. According to another neighbour, who was woken up by the “shouts”, everything happened very quickly. Several minutes afterwards, the Police arrived at the scene and arrested the man. “He was shouting like a mad man and was very difficult to handle”, the witness say. (…).

(…) According to the police, the dispute was caused by the cultural clash between the two generations of this family of Maghrebi origin. While the two sisters were very well known and appreciated in their Portugalete district, no one know the father.

Munich -- - Munich police are questioning a 27-year-old Afghan man suspected of stabbing his former wife to death "in the name of the Koran," police sources said Tuesday. A Munich police spokesman said the 24-old Afghan woman Nesima R., whose full name was withheld for legal reasons, had been stabbed some 20 times, and that the suspect had given the Koran as a justification for the attack.

The woman received stab wounds to the heart and died Monday in hospital.

The pair are believed to have been married while in Afghanistan, although when Zafar, a 27-year-old unemployed painter, came to Germany in 2008, he found the woman in a new relationship with a cousin.

Police think that the former couple, who have a daughter, may themselves have been cousins.
The 3-year-old daughter was an eyewitness to the stabbing, which took place early on Monday morning. A niece of the victim also saw the attack, which occurred outside her apartment.

The spokesman said police were investigating the "very complex kinship relations" surrounding the case, and suspected it to be a so- called "honour killing."

Honour killing is the term used to describe a murder carried out with the defence of the perceived honour of a family or ethnic group as a motive.

In February, an Afghan man was sentenced to life in prison in the northern city of Hamburg for killing his sister in what prosecutors said was an honour killing.

The judge in that case rejected the honour killing explanation, saying that the family had simply been dysfunctional.

It is not clear in the Munich crime what role other motives, such as jealousy, may have played.

Honour killing has become a sensitive political topic in Germany, with immigrant communities, especially Muslims, accused of importing a barbaric judicial custom.

Terre Des Femmes, a women's rights group, estimates that some 50 women have been killed in
Germany in the past 10 years for reasons of supposed honour.
