CNN Attacks Bannon For CORRECTLY Stating: “Islam Is Not A Religion Of Peace… Islam Means Submission”

From CNN:
President Trump’s chief strategist, former Breitbart executive Steve Bannon, once dismissed the notion that Islam is a religion of peace, describing it in a 2010 radio interview as “a religion of submission.”
In the segment, Bannon, who at the time served on the board of Breitbart, criticized former President George W. Bush for what he and fellow guest conservative columnist Diana West described as injecting political correctness into the federal government… …”Islam is not a religion of peace. Islam is a religion of submission. Islam means submission,” Bannon said.
“I mean, the whole thing is just, he is the epitome, he’s a Republican version–not a conservative–he’s a Republican establishment, country club version of the Clintons. That’s all they are. It’s the baby boomer, narcissistic, he wants to feel loved.”

Just some wholesome Muslim entertainment:
According to the information published on social media (and confirmed by a local newspaper) the thugs responsible for this monstrosity are Hasan Kuzu (the one of the left) and Neset Yaman (on the right). The two are, most likely, involved in dog fights and decided to punish one of their dogs for losing a battle in the most inhumane way possible. The two proceeded to cut the dog’s ears off with a sharp knife, with no anaesthetic whatsoever. They had a friend record the scene – during the video, which was uploaded online but has since been deleted, the dog howls in despair, begging for mercy, but the cruel attackers just keep on going.
What's amazing is that these monsters put the photos and video online like they did some cool, badass thing that they want to share with the world.

What they did is illegal. Let's see if Turkey is serious about enforcing the laws.

Trump Files Early With FEC For 2020 Candidacy, Outmaneuvers Nonprofits

Here is the beauty of it:
“More importantly, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations would no longer be able to engage in “political speech” which could theoretically affect the results of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election without running the risk of losing their nonprofit status.
The move effectively bars interest groups from creating nonprofits which they could funnel money into for the purposes of opposing Trump’s initiatives. This will likely create chaos for political opponents of Trump such as George Soros, who has sunk significant amounts of money into various nonprofit groups with the intent of opposing Trump’s government.

Five more were gravely injured in the Sunday night attack at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center

He held a minute's silence in the House of Commons on Monday and told Canadian Muslims: 'We will love you'

Here's more from Will at THE OTHER NEWS:

Perpetrator of Terror attack Bissonnette had withdrawn into himself. (Lapresse)[GoogleTranslate].

Alexandre Bissonnette, a Carougeois student in political science at Université Laval, has reportedly cut off contact with several people around him, including his best friend, in the month preceding the tragic Sunday night shooting at the Holy Mosque -Foy.

Éric Debroise had met Alexandre Bissonnette a few times in the last few months, through the best friend of the presumed shooter of the mosque. Bissonnette occasionally sent him political comments in a private message on Facebook.

"He had retired and was not communicating with people for nearly a month. His best friend could no longer reach him. The last time he wrote to me was after Castro's death. I did not reply. He was upset that the media he judged on the left did not say anything against Castro, but were very vocal against Trump. "

It is that Bissonnette had an admiration assumed for the new American president, explains Éric Debroise, who himself works in the political field and militates for Quebecois secularism. In the aftermath of the attack on Monday, Debroise said he realized he had been dealing without knowing it with a "white supremacist, a pure racist." However, he would never have made that statement before Sunday's tragedy. "He was small and slim, very introverted with a fleeting glance. He did not look very strong. I never thought he was at risk of radicalization. "

Alexandre Bissonnette had been studying political science at Université Laval for several years. The establishment announced on Monday that it was excluded from any activity of the establishment until the end of the judicial process in progress. "He was practically in all my classes. He's a loner. He did not really have friends, "says a former college fellow.

"It seemed to me the most classic of right-wing conservatives. He had never referred to violence as a vehicle for political action, "says another student, who had done a part-time job with him. It nevertheless corroborates the very vocal support of Bissonnette for Donald Trump.

Another man who rubbed shoulders with Bissonnette remembers him as "a not very sociable guy". "Sincerely, I'm not so surprised that his name comes out after the tragedy. It has always been special. "
Some community groups also raised, on Monday, the unflattering reputation that Alexandre Bissonnette had made on the social networks.

"It is with pain and anger that we learn the identity of the terrorist Alexandre Bissonnette, unfortunately known to several activists in Quebec for his positions of identity, pro-Marine Le Pen and anti-feminists on social networks" Denounced the page manager Welcome to refugees.es - Quebec City, François Deschamps.

Mr. Deschamps then told La Presse that Bissonnette regularly attacked feminist groups behind his keyboard, using the term "femazazi".

Intimidated all his childhood

In Cap-Rouge, on the other hand, the arrest of Bissonnette created a different wave of shock among those who rubbed shoulders with him at one time or another of his youth, especially in the cadets and schools of Grandes-Marées and Of the Compagnons-de-Cartier.

"All I can remember is that it was incredible how intimidated he was. He was one of the most intimidated guys in the school, he and his twin brother, "remembers a former classmate at Compagnons-de-Cartier.

"He never said anything, he let himself be pounded on his feet. Speaking with people who met him a little after high school, it seems that it made him very easy to manipulate, very influential. Today I tell people around me: look at what it can do to bully kids.

Acquaintances from Mr. Bissonnette’s earlier years say he was introverted, socially awkward and frequently bullied. Toma Popescu remembered bigger kids teasing Mr. Bissonnette for his slight, pallid appearance and his unfashionable clothing. “He dressed like a country boy,” Mr. Popescu said.

The bullies who targeted Mr. Bissonnette would demand his money and his lunch, even roughing him up, Mr. Popescu added. But Mikael Labrecque Berger said that Mr. Bissonnette wasn’t cowed by his social problems at school.

He never seemed to take it like personally,” Mr. Berger. “He had an almost happy attitude about it.”

“Someone [would] tell him, ‘You’re ugly,’ and he would say, ‘You too are ugly.’” …

"Even at the primary level, he and his brother were rejected and they were intimidated. It was really nerds, "continues a neighbor of the Bissonnette family. Information confirmed to the Sun by former comrades at Grandes-Marées.

"They were behaving like twins. They were like merged together. They were also introverted, it is as if they were self sufficient, "explains another neighbor, Alain Dufour. However, one of the twins had moved in July.

"There has never been a party at home, never a youth gang in the yard. It was really not neighbors to problem, "continues his spouse, Huguette Gagnon. "It's an infinite sadness for the family. The parents were so present for their children. Their father was a model father in my head. The mother too. "

The family home of the Bissonnette family was searched by police on Sunday night.

No charges of terrorism.

Although the killing has been described as an act of terror, no charges of terrorism have been retained for the moment by the public prosecutor.

"The accusations made today are consistent with the evidence gathered," said Jacques in a brief press briefing after the appearance. But you understand that the events have happened very recently and that the police investigation is continuing. "

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, a terrorist activity is an act committed in the name of - exclusively or not - a political, religious or ideological purpose, objective or cause. Conclusions of the Congressional Task Force on Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel

“Today, we are witnessing the largest global convergence of jihadists in history.”

“We have largely failed to stop Americans from traveling overseas to join jihadists … Several dozen also managed to make it back into America.”

“The U.S. government lacks a national strategy for combating terrorist travel and has not produced one in nearly a decade.”“The unprecedented speed at which Americans are being radicalized by violent extremists is straining federal law enforcement’s ability to monitor and intercept suspects.”

“There have now been twice as many ISIS-inspired terror plots against the West in 2015 than there were in all of 2014.”
  • “[ISIS] is believed to have inspired or directed nearly 60 terrorist plots or attacks against Western countries, including 15 in the United States.”
“Gaping security weaknesses overseas—especially in Europe—are putting the U.S. homeland in danger…”

“In short, information about foreign fighters is crossing borders less quickly than the extremists themselves.”

“The federal government has failed to develop clear early intervention strategies—or ‘off-ramps’- to radicalization—to prevent suspects already on law enforcement’s radar from leaving to join extremists.”

    1. If there are green card holders overseas, they should be rapidly vetted and re-admitted.
Everyone else, YOU WAIT. Once you are through, WELCOME.
WELCOME, just as the German, Italians, Irish and Jews in the 1840’s.
      WELCOME just like everyone else.
      But until then, WE VET.
      For good reason.

Meanwhile in Syria:13 Percent of Syrian Refugees Support ISIS…WHAT?

13 Percent of Syrian Refugees Support ISIS

poll published in November 2014 by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies found that 13% of Syrian refugees have positive feelings towards the Islamic State terrorist group. The data should raise questions about the risks posed by the acceptance of Syrian refugees into the United States.
The poll surveyed 900 Syrian refugees equally split between Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. The think-tank found that 4% expressed a positive opinion of the Islamic State (ISIS) and another 9% expressed a “somewhat positive” opinion of the terrorist group. Another 10% only view the group negatively “to some extent.”
The responses to that question are similar to an inquiry to the Syrian refugees about whether they view ISIS to be a direct threat to their home country. About 80% responded affirmatively and 15% negatively, with 5% said they don’t know or refused to answer.
Another question shows that these sentiments do not come from ignorance. The majority are aware of the Islamic State’s extremist ideology and barbarism. About 40% said they follow news related to the Islamic State very closely and 37% follow it somewhat closely. About 10% said they rarely follow ISIS-related news and 12% follow it not at all.
The survey didn’t even ask about more popular groups like Al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch named Jabhat al-Nusra and Hamas or extremist beliefs like jihad against the U.S. When asked about the greatest threat to the Arab world, 29% of Syrian refugees said Iran, followed by Israel (22%) and the U.S. (19%). The threat of Islamist militancy was rated the top threat by only 10%.

    Sally Yates

Statement on the Appointment of Dana Boente as Acting Attorney General
The acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States. This order was approved as to form and legality by the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel.
Ms. Yates is an Obama Administration appointee who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.
It is time to get serious about protecting our country. Calling for tougher vetting for individuals travelling from seven dangerous places is not extreme. It is reasonable and necessary to protect our country.
Tonight, President Trump relieved Ms. Yates of her duties and subsequently named Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve as Acting Attorney General until Senator Jeff Sessions is finally confirmed by the Senate, where he is being wrongly held up by Democrat senators for strictly political reasons.
“I am honored to serve President Trump in this role until Senator Sessions is confirmed. I will defend and enforce the laws of our country to ensure that our people and our nation are protected,” said Dana Boente, Acting Attorney General.
Acting US Attorney General Sally Yates, a carryover form the Obama administration, was fired Monday after she ordered Justice Department lawyers not to enforce the US President's immigration ban targeting seven Muslim-majority nations. Yates said she was not convinced the ban was lawful and would not defend it in court.

Okay, so if she would not defend it in court, DID SHE SEND DoJ lawyers to court over the weekend to represent the PEOPLE OF THE USA?
    Does anyone know?
I believe anyone HERE should be sent thru under the protection of the Constitution, but if this woman acted to DISRUPT and BREAK the representation of the USA,, leaving us in default in court, that she did not resign, and instead acted in insurrection should make her ineligible to serve in ANY govt office, and I would expect that EVEN under a D president a republican majority in the Senate would reject her outright if appointed to a position which requires consent.

Dubai Security Chief: “We Completely Support” President Trump’s “Muslim Ban”

    From Al Bawaba:
America’s ban on immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries may be stirring anger across the West, but in the Arab world the move has received some more surprising responses.
In a series of tweets, Dubai’s Head of General Security, Dhahi Khalfan this morning expressed his support for President Trump’s “Muslim ban”.
“We completely support Trump in his ban on entry to those who may cause a breach in America’s security.”
"Previous US administrations have embraced all the wanted men of the Arab world and those classified as terrorists… Trump what you’re doing is right."
Khalfan, who has a following 1.5 million on his official Twitter account, also wrote that it was America’s right to “ban whoever they want to ban”.
Emirati passport holders are not included in the executive order that Trump signed on Saturday, suspending visas for travellers from several Arab nations including Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

    Fuckin' WINNING!!!
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump signed an order on Monday that will seek to dramatically pare back federal regulations by requiring agencies to cut two existing regulations for every new rule introduced.
"This will be the biggest such act that our country has ever seen. There will be regulation, there will be control, but it will be normalized control," Trump said as he signed the order in the Oval Office, surrounded by a group of small business owners.
Trump's latest executive action will prepare a process for the White House to set an annual cap on the cost of new regulations, a senior official told reporters ahead of the signing.
For the rest of fiscal 2017, the cap will require that the cost of any additional regulations be completely offset by undoing existing rules, the official said on customary condition of anonymity.

    Quebec City Mosque Shooting

News reports are coming out with the names of the suspects:
According to Radio-Canada and LCN, the two suspects in Sunday’s terror attacks on a mosque in Quebec City are Alexandre Bissonnette and Mohamed Khadir.
Mohamed!? How will the Trump-hating media spin this one?
One of the suspects was arrested at the scene, while a second called 911 himself and was arrested around 9 p.m., just over an hour after the first 911 calls came in at 7:55 p.m., police said Monday morning during a news conference involving the Sûreté du Québec, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Quebec City police and Montreal police.
The suspects, men in their late 20s and early 30s, were not known to police and the investigation into a possible motive continues, said superintendent Martin Plante of the RCMP’s C Division.
One of the suspects called 911 and got himself arrested. This is a weird case.

Robert Spencer provides possible educated motives:
In light of the witness statement that they screamed “Allahu akbar,” it is likely that Bissonnette is a convert to Islam, and that this was, as I suggested last night, a case of Muslims firing upon other Muslims whom they deemed heretical: a Sunni-Shia dispute, or adherents of the Islamic State versus opponents of it, or Sunnis firing upon Ahmadiyya — depending on what kind of mosque it is. But there is no basis at this point for the widespread assumption that this was an “Islamophobic” attack carried out by deranged Trump supporters who wandered north of the border.
    Muslims murder Muslims. In Canada.

It's only a matter of time before one of them unleashes his rage upon the infidels. Will Canadians learn from this lethal preview of what's to come or will they blindly import more followers of evil?

    The answer:
    Canada is so fucked
I don't know why the world is so upset over this attack. According to Zoolander logic, those six Muslims who got killed, "won"!

There's going to be a lot more "winning" in Canada.

Starbucks CEO Schultz Will Hire 10,000 Refugees In Response To Trump's Executive Order

    From McClatchey:
Howard Schultz, the coffee retailer's chairman and CEO, said in a letter to employees Sunday that the hiring would apply to stores worldwide and the effort would start in the United States where the focus would be on hiring immigrants "who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel."
Schultz, a supporter of Hillary Clinton during the presidential run, took aim at other parts of a Trump agenda focused on immigration, repealing former President Barack Obama's health care law and restructuring trade with Mexico. The letter said that Starbucks would help support coffee growers in Mexico, provide health insurance to eligible workers if the health care law is repealed and back an Obama-era immigration program that allows young immigrants who were brought to the country as children to apply for a two-year reprieve from deportation and a work permit.

6 Dead, 8 Wounded in Mass Shooting At Quebec Mosque, Gunmen Yelling "Allahu Abar" - IS THIS THE REASON FOR THE ATTACK?

It seems "a group of brothers" broke off to start a new Mosque, and then, "the fights and the hatred" start.

And the Imam at the first Mosque dared to speak of it in a public forum.

I am no Islamic Scholar, but I am pretty sure that one Muslim disagreeing with another in public is called Fasad, or "Stirring up (or spreading) mischief in the land", and is the grounds for serious punishment,

    ... wait for it ...

The term fasad appears in Quran in many verses.
The term Fasad appears, for example, in chapter 2 (Al-Baqara), verse 11-12,
When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only Want to make peace!" Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not. – Quran 2:11
In chapter 5 (Al-Ma'ida) of Qur'an, in verse 33, in the phrase "mischief in the land" (fasaadin fi al-ard):
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter. – Quran 5:33

Now that the Anne Frank meme has dwindled in objective falsehood, it is a ‘muslim ban’ becomes the meme, and ‘it will be ineffective because KSA, Egypt, Pakistan are omitted’ is the ironic coda

I’m sorry but as a long time presence on forums with Gulf Arabs, and Persians and Syrians (which the host nation closed because I believe we were awfully frank), this logic reminds me an awful lot of another dual claim of tortuous logic.
‘The Holocaust never killed 6 million Jews, and the job should should have been finished’

Of course the logic of ‘it’s a Muslim ban’ dies when you consider that first, the LARGEST Muslim nation by population, Indonesia is not on it. In fact if we look at the top five nations by population:
    1. Indonesia
    2. Pakistan
    3. India
    4. Bangla Desh
    5. Nigeria
None. In fact I can make a strong argument 2 and 5 merit being on the list if not strong public debate over that.
The fact is that every nation on the list of banned travel, BUT ONE, has territory held by violent, terrorist Islamist cults (actually the same one, beneath minor variations). The ONE nation not in this violent internal anarchy and loss of control is the nation with the 6th highest Muslim population. The nation which congress and the state dept of both D and R admins across more than 20 years has recognized and condemned as a TERRORIST STATE.

Like wise we have the argument ‘they should have finished the job’ .. which is that Egypt, KSA and Pakistan are not on this list and therefore that racist Trump his alt-right henchman Bannon, and Archie comics KKK members, and his Muslim ban can’t even be effective racists since the killers, of 9/11 and San Bernadino, Boston bombing, etc wouldn’t have been caught by this EO.
Well, these nations, all three of which DESERVE negative recognition, fail the criterion of active Islamist revolt with land being ruled by terrorists.
However, it is my hope all these nations’ entrants NOT under their own national govt’s passports as diplomatic or military personnel attached to embassies will be thoroughly examined.
This ‘argument’ that it is a Muslim ban deserves not just negation in the extreme, but the claimant should be asked why they are making such a false claim which DOES HARM THE NATIONAL IMAGE?
Dissent is fine, but dissent using false propaganda falls under a different category.
And if the assertion then is put forth as true in spite of inarguable facts, well, then you know the KIND of claimant you have before you.
We have two major issues facing us in killing the ascendant form of Islam’s radical killers. We have to stop them from coming here, and we have to isolate those who become this,….THING, once here, or as a second generation. This TEMPORARY travel restriction, shorter than Mr. Obama’s of 2011, is a minimal attempt at dealing with the former problem.

    Diversity + Proximity = War

    So it begins:
Quebec City Police say several people are dead after shots were fired inside a Quebec City mosque on Sunday night during evening prayers.
In just one day, the Prime Minister of Canada is proven to be an utter fool.
A witness, who asked to remain anonymous, told CBC's French-language service Radio-Canada that two masked individuals entered the mosque.
"It seemed to me that they had a Quebecois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot they yelled, 'Allahu akbar!' The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head," said the witness.
Shouting "Allah Akbar" while firing an AK-47? It looks like Quebec got culturally enriched with Muslim-on-Muslim mayhem! We'll know for sure when the full details are released.

Regardless, the narrative can't be derailed: Trump is to blame!

BRING IT ON, BITCHEZ! Loud Arab Call To Prayer Inside Dallas Fort Worth Airport While Muslims Pray, Chant ‘Allah’

    From Gateway Pundit:
Protests erupted at airports across the country following Donald Trump’s executive order temporarily barring Muslims from seven countries from entering the United States.
Muslims gathered inside of Dallas Fort Worth Airport with a loud Arab call to prayer in protest of this ban.
This is not a protest. This is how Muslims show their dominance in a country that they are seeking to takeover.
Would any Islamic country allow Christians or Jews to gather in an airport and demonstrate like this?

Behind Every Great Woman Is a Horny Guy Checking Out Her Ass

DHS Will Continue To Enforce Trump’s Travel Ban, Despite Judge’s Order

    As we said earlier.

    From Fox:
The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement early Sunday saying that they plan on continuing to “enforce all of the president’s executive orders in a manner that ensures the safety and security of the American people.”
The DHS said the court order would not affect the overall implementation of the White House order and the court order affected a small number of travelers who were inconvenienced by security procedures upon their return.
“The president’s executive orders remain in place—prohibited travel will remain prohibited, and the U.S. government retains its right to revoke visas at any time if required for national security or public safety,” the statement said.
A federal judge issued an emergency order Saturday night temporarily barring the U.S. from deporting people from nations subject to President Donald Trump’s travel ban, saying travelers who had been detained had a strong argument that their legal rights had been violated.
Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to the White House, said, “Nothing in the Brooklyn judge’s order in anyway impedes or prevents the implementation of the president’s executive order which remains in full, complete and total effect.”

Judge's Ruling Against Trump Executive Order ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE ALREADY ON U.S. SOIL, as is true of Person Who Has ALREADY PASSED THROUGH CUSTOMS

Trump's immigration crackdown is a clear message to the Muslim world - get your own houses in order before you come to ours

    Seriously, FUCK THIS SHIT!

From Katie Hopkins in the Daily Mail:
Have you noticed? There has been more outrage from the left over Trump’s so-called Muslim ban, than over terror itself.
More gnashing of gums and loud wailing, more placards decrying the plight of a few tourists and travellers, than over the bodies blown apart by Islamic extremists at Brussels airport in March last year.
So much collective outrage, in fact, I wonder how on earth a ban imposed by 16 countries on Israeli citizens has remained in place for quite so long with such quiet acceptance.
Curious, isn't it? What liberals will and won't accept. What is also strange that when I speak to Muslims and ask why they feel the need to flee persecution or seek refuge, I am told it is because Islam is suffering and is incredibly divided. Because the tensions between Sunni and Shia are simply overwhelming.
What stumps me is why non-Muslim countries are expected to welcome such a divided religion with open arms.
And if we think about the problems facing Syrian, Iran, Somalia and Yemen and the rest in the context of the US president’s inaugural address, why would America want to keep allowing such division to its shores?
Whether Muslims want to acknowledge it or not, extremists commit atrocities in the name of Allah. They do it according to and in observance of their interpretation of their faith.
What has led us to this latest executive order is not only Islamic extremists knifing, shooting, stabbing and exploding peaceful citizens in the West, but also the abject failure of the wider Muslim community to denounce these vile acts.
It is troubling to many that after each terrorist act there is largely silence from the families and communities that raised the terrorists and from the mosques that they frequented. Imams seldom condemn terror.
And in their silence, in the void, acceptance, encouragement even, is assumed.

    The delusional Lee Skinner:
The Stratford Observer reports that Lee Skinner was running along the canal side near Yardley Road, Acocks Green in the middle of the afternoon when one of the five-strong group suddenly struck him full force in the face, knocking him into the icy waters.
The Daily Mirror records how Skinner was “able to identify them as Pakistani as I’ve worked in Muslim communities and have a detailed knowledge of Islam and speak Arabic to a certain level”.
    Skinner thought quickly.
Only after the quick-thinking linguist cried out “There is no God but Allah” in Arabic did his attackers panic and flee the scene, possibly suspecting they may have assaulted a fellow Muslim.
Skinner ran and in his infinite wisdom caught up with the Muslims and:
The 38 year-old then warned group “that in the current political climate, such actions could have a negative effect on the Muslim Pakistani community” and lectured them on “the positive aspects of Mohammed and Islam”.
    I can't even.

    From Seth Frantzman:

I was outraged by the ban on refugees from war-torn countries in the Middle East. I’ve covered refugees fleeing war in Iraq and Syria over the last two years, meeting families on the road in Greece, Serbia and Macedonia, speaking to poor people in Turkey and Jordan and discussing the hopes and fears of people displaced in Iraq. If you want to ban “terrorists,” these are the last people to hit with a refugee ban. Instead the government should be using the best intelligence possible to find people being radicalized, some of whom have lived in the US their whole lives or who come from countries not affected by the ban, such as Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.
So I was outraged, and then I read the executive order. There are many full texts of the order online, such as at CNN, the NYT, the WSJ or Independent.  According to most reports Trump was banning “nationals of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for at least the next 90 days.” This bars people from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. US Senator Elizabeth Warren said “Let’s be clear: A Muslim ban by any other name is still a Muslim ban,” and Senator Chris Murphy claimed “Trump has now handed ISIS a path to rebirth.”  Media, such as Vox and the Independent, compared the ban to banning Jews from entry during the Holocaust and bashed Trump for singing the order on Holocaust memorial day. World leaders are “condemning Trump’s Muslim ban,” according to headlines.
I had to see for myself, so I read the executive order.  The order does seek “to protect the American people from terrorist attacks by foreign nationals admitted to the United States.” It says that it seeks “Suspension of Issuance of Visas and Other Immigration Benefits to Nationals of Countries of Particular Concern.” It also says “I hereby proclaim that the immigrant and nonimmigrant entry into the United States of aliens from countries referred to in section 217(a)(12) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1187(a)(12), would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, and I hereby suspend entry into the United States, as immigrants and nonimmigrants, of such persons for 90 days from the date of this order.”  And it targets Syrians specifically. “I hereby proclaim that the entry of nationals of Syria as refugees is detrimental to the interests of the United States and thus suspend any such entry until such time as I have determined that sufficient changes have been made to the USRAP to ensure that admission of Syrian refugees is consistent with the national interest.”
But, wait a sec. According to the reports “The order bars all people hailing from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.” Critics had attacked Trump for selecting these seven countries and not selecting other states “linked to his sprawling business empire.” Bloomberg and Forbes bought into this.
But, wait a sec. I read the order and Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen are not mentioned in it.
Go back and read it again. Do a “ctrl-f” to find “Iraq”. Where is “Iraq” in the order. It’s not there. Only Syria is there. So where are the seven nations? Where is the “Muslim ban”? It turns out this was a form of fake news, or alternative facts. Trump didn’t select seven “Muslim-majority” countries. US President Barack Obama’s administration selected these seven Muslim-majority countries.
