ANDY NGO: Killing of border patrol agent appears linked to ‘Zizian’ radical leftist trans cult.
Authorities say the gun Youngblut used in the border patrol attack was bought by Michelle Jacqueline Zajko — the trans nonbinary adult child of Rita and Richard Zajko, who were found killed in mysterious and unsolved circumstances in Delaware County, Pa. in early 2023. Zajko, whose blog shows connections to the Ziz cult, has not been charged with a crime.
That group, the “Zizians,” are highly-educated trans vegan “rationalists” who hold fringe, esoteric ideological beliefs about transhumanism and animal rights.
Their leader, Jack “Ziz” LaSota, is a biological male who identifies as a woman. He also used the name Andrea Phelps, and is accused of influencing followers to kill. LaSota’s archived prolific blog writings ramble about the use of violence and radical anarchist tactics to achieve various ends.
LaSota has a warrant for an arrest in Delaware County, Pa. after skipping out on court hearings on an open criminal case. His supporters say he died in 2022, but that appears to be based on a fake online obituary to try to escape the law.

I acknowledge upfront that the “Zizians” and the grimy-but-fascinating story of their alleged violence is not a big deal, in any real sense. They’re a group of former computer scientists and financial market types who appear to have latched onto the effective altruism/rationalist movement and taken the AI risk, veganism, and animal rights parts to a certain extreme; the group has been implicated in at least eight murders. But there appears to be only a handful of them, and they’re a fringe of a fringe.
I don’t have any interest in implicating the rest of the rationalist sphere in this, though I do think David Z. Morris is fundamentally correct that the culture of “existential AI risk” obviously has the potential to inspire violence and extremism.
As he says, “Apocalyptic predictions, asserted with a confidence buttressed by weaponized misuse of ‘Bayesian’ logic, is driving young people insane by convincing them that they must take extreme steps to halt an imagined doom.”
But one shouldn’t nutpick, and anyway I’m not really interested in this group’s ideology. I’m interested in them as a test case of what I’ve been saying for some time: that violence is coming, and that people will find a way to package it with meaning. They want to. They need to. They have to believe that it comes from something other than themselves.

Astonishingly, Trump’s mass firings of top-level commissioners from the NLRB, the Privacy Board, and the EEOC, were thought to be illegal and impossible. But even more historic and astonishing, Trump has fired so many it leaves those agencies without quora. They are dead in the water. These now-paralyzed agencies literally cannot undermine Trump’s agenda, even if they wanted to, for the practical reason that there simply aren’t enough commissioners left to vote on anything. They’re frozen.
Strikingly, none of the “abruptly fired” officials have yet sued the federal government—even though Trump is trampling on all sorts of precedents, customs, and statutes. Ms. Fong merely staged a bizarre mini-protest rather than assert her legal rights. All this legal restraint is especially strange considering that in at least one agency, the NLRB, federal law expressly limits the President’s ability to fire commissioners except in very limited circumstances.
The Times and the fired officials smelled a Trump trap.

Rahamim Shy, 47, of New Jersey was a senior adviser on Pakistan and Afghanistan in the State Department during the administration of former President Barack Obama in the days when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, according to C-Span.
The international investment banker visited England’s Bedfordshire in February 2024 after weeks of communicating with an undercover police officer posing as “Debbie,” who was the grandmother of a girl Shy sought to have sex with, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
Shy was arrested last year and tried to claim police had no jurisdiction over communications sent from America. The court ruled that since the proposed offense was to take place in England, English courts had jurisdiction.

Vice President JD Vance claimed Wednesday that the Biden administration was aware of the names and addresses of violent criminals in the country illegally but took no action.
Vance, 40, described it as "one of the craziest things of the last week" to learn the previous administration knew the whereabouts of some of the criminal migrants recently taken into federal custody as part of President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration.
"What is shocking to me is that many of these violent criminals -- we knew their addresses, we knew their names. We just needed to send somebody to go to their house and get them the hell out of the country," the vice president told Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday night.
Vance fumed that federal officials "haven't done anything until about eight days ago, when Donald Trump became the president of the United States" to apprehend known gang leaders and other violent offenders -- many of whom illegally came into the country under former President Joe Biden's watch.
"It really should shock the conscience of the American people," the vice president argued.
Vance noted that on the campaign trail, critics of Trump's pledge to deport criminal migrants often noted that one major hurdle would be that "we don't know where they are."
"It turns out we actually do know where a lot of them are. We just haven't had immigration enforcement. And that's what's changed," he said.
Vance touted Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration, and his flurry of executive actions, as signs that the new administration has accomplished "more in eight days than the entire Biden administration accomplished in four years."
"And of course, the things that we're accomplishing are actually good things," he argued.

Trump is following through with unprecedented and swift action to begin his presidency – which has reset the national mood
Internet pioneer Marc Andreessen said it best: “Last week has totally reset my conception of what’s possible, in two wholly different dimensions.”
As Andreessen often is, he’s right.
Soon after November’s election, I suggested that if Donald Trump were smart, he’d come in like a wrecking ball: Move fast, break things and precipitate change across many fronts all at once, subjecting the Democrats, the media and the left (but I repeat myself) to shock and awe.
Boy, has he ever done that, unleashing unprecedented change in just his first 100 hours.
He banned DEI throughout the federal government, closed the borders to illegal immigrants (according to Customs and Border Protection, illegal crossings dropped 97% by Trump’s second day in office), halted government censorship efforts, refocused the Defense Department from social issues to warfighting, and started a massive cleanup at the corrupt Department of Justice.
The new administration immediately found 80,000 of the Biden Administration’s 300,000 unaccounted-for migrant children, Fox News reported, and Trump overturned Biden’s order blocking the shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.
And Trump himself has been all over the place: Lecturing the fat-cats at Davos about freedom (joined by Argentina’s Javier Milei), showing up for the Biden-ignored victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, and barnstorming to California to demand that state and local officials do their jobs and not tie up recovery efforts with red tape.
Meanwhile, his Department of Government Efficiency is already canceling wasteful government contracts, and federal employees are threatening to quit as Trump orders everyone, finally, to end their COVID-era remote work.
A week or two ago, all these things seemed too hard to accomplish.
Now they’re simply being done.
Oh, there’s resistance: The Air Force announced that as part of Trump’s DEI ban it would stop teaching cadets about the Tuskeegee Airmen scandal, an act of obvious bad faith designed to grab headlines.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who knows whereof he speaks, rightly called this “political theatrics” and “passive-aggressive performative nonsense . . . It’s all an act.”
It is an act, and the actors should be sacked.
But that they’re trying this sort of idiocy is proof that they’re flailing and desperate. Trump has the momentum.
One reason for this, of course, is that things like the DEI ban and immigration enforcement are wildly popular.
The American public has never supported affirmative action or open borders.
Those are policy preferences of the elites, who bullied opponents by calling them racist.
That doesn’t work anymore.
So along the practical side of Andreessen’s dual dimensions, it’s amazing: We were headed down a destructive path that, it turns out, most Americans didn’t want, and now we’re quickly turning around.
But the other dimension of Andreessen’s observation is spiritual, and here the shift is even more striking.
In Inman Majors’ excellent novel “The Millionaires,” a political consultant observes that there are only two campaign themes: “Bright New Day,” and “Back to Basics.”
It says something about the poor quality of Democratic governance that Trump can declare a Bright New Day simply by returning to basics — racial equality, an orderly border, a competent military.

As reported earlier, a J6 political prisoner pardoned by Trump was killed by an Indiana police officer over the weekend.
FOX 32 Chicago reported at 4:15 p.m. local time Sunday that 42-year-old Matthew W. Huttle of Hobart, Indiana, was stopped by a Jasper County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop near the Pulaski County line. Police say the deputy attempted to arrest Huttle after stopping him, but the civilian resisted.
The officer responded by firing his weapon and killing Huttle following a supposed fight.
Investigative journalist Yehuda Miller and The Gateway Pundit reached out to Jasper County Sheriff Williamson following the news of the deadly shooting. We FOIAed video of the incident from the police cameras.
Sheriff Williamson told us that because this was an open investigation, he would not release the footage!

According to media reports, President Trump has removed the entire leadership structure of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), previously run by Samantha Power.
This is not necessarily a domestic issue. Those who walk the deepest political weeds well understand that USAID is the cover agency for the interventionist efforts of the CIA. USAID is the agency silo that coordinates the meddling in foreign elections, organizes the revolutions and political opposition of those deemed out of alignment with global democratic norms, funds the NGOs who do the ground operations, and generally seeks to replace foreign leaders.
President Trump has just removed the entire leadership structure of the USAID enterprise, approximately 60 government officials. You can bet that nationalist leaders of foreign countries are smiling now while Brussels (EU Commission) is left wondering who will pay for the foot soldiers.
In other words, this means that the US might find it more difficult for a while to stage colour revolutions against popular and constitutionally conservative leaders like Viktor Orban. This is, a great thing. In fact, those I know of the left that spat nails about the US because of their foreign interference should be joyful about this. But I think we all know how it will actually play out in the leftist press.

Heavily armed officers from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the NYPD Special Operations unit raided a Bronx apartment early Tuesday morning, capturing one of the most dangerous gang leaders in recent memory.
Pacheco was allegedly among the heavily-armed suspects who were caught on surveillance video forcing their way into the apartment in Aurora, just outside Denver, last August.
It wasn’t immediately clear when he came to the Big Apple.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has initiated a bold inquiry into the protective policies of notorious sanctuary cities against federal law enforcement.
This inquiry targets mayors of Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City on their controversial stances on non-cooperation with federal immigration authorities, which Comer criticizes as “misguided and obstructionist policies that jeopardize American safety.”
Each of these cities has enacted measures that limit cooperation with federal efforts to apprehend and deport illegal immigrants, particularly those with criminal records.
Recall that Boston’s Democrat Mayor Michelle Wu made headlines last November with her interview with WCVB, where she vowed that Boston would not cooperate with the incoming administration’s deportation efforts.
"But what we can do is make sure that we are doing our part to protect our residents in every possible way, that we are not cooperating with those efforts that actually threaten the safety of everyone by causing widespread fear and having large-scale economic impact,” she said.
Also, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has declared his willingness to defy federal law and face jail time to protect illegal immigrants—including those with criminal records—from President-elect Donald Trump’s promised deportation efforts.
“If I believe that our residents are having their rights violated, if I think things are happening that are illegal or immoral or un-American in our city, I would certainly protest it, and I would expect other residents would do the same,” Johnston said.
When pressed by 9NEWS about the possibility of jail time for his actions, Johnston said, “I’m not afraid of that.”
According to the news release, “Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City are sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to fully cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Sanctuary jurisdictions are “states, counties or cities that put some limits on how much they are willing to cooperate with federal agencies’ efforts to deport” illegal aliens. These jurisdictions take it upon themselves to decide what laws they will and will not abide by all for the purpose of shielding removable aliens, especially criminals, from federal law enforcement. There are about 12 states and hundreds of cities and counties with sanctuary laws or policies across the country.”
On February 11, 2025, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will conduct a pivotal hearing, demanding detailed accounts and communications regarding sanctuary practices from these city leaders.

Border Czar Tom Homan has announced a major escalation in the United States’ stance against Mexican drug cartels, vowing to “wipe them off the face of the earth.”
This stern warning follows a dangerous confrontation on Monday, where U.S. Border Patrol agents engaged in a firefight with suspected cartel gunmen along the volatile U.S.-Mexico border.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) agents and U.S. Border Patrol members faced a barrage of gunfire from suspected drug cartel operatives near Fronton, Texas on Monday.
According to Lt. Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the confrontation erupted as agents conducted routine surveillance along the treacherous Rio Grande, Breitbart reported.
The agents, finding themselves under heavy fire, were forced to return gunfire and take shelter in dense brush lining the river’s edge.
The standoff happened as a group of illegal aliens tried to cross the river during a shootout. Luckily, no Border Patrol agents or suspected cartel members were injured.

Trump’s order required “all executive departments and agencies (agencies) to terminate all discriminatory and illegal preferences, mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, and requirements.”
“I further order all agencies to enforce our longstanding civil-rights laws and to combat illegal private-sector DEI preferences, mandates, policies, programs, and activities,” the order said. That was followed by an order from the Office of Personnel Management to put all federal staff holding jobs in which they implemented DEI rules to be put on leave, according to NBC.
Fox News said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is in the hot seat because it tried to shift an employee who was its chief diversity officer to the title of “senior executive.”

It took five years, but the Central Intelligence Agency has finally come around to thinking the likeliest source of the Covid-19 virus was a lab in Wuhan, China. That was the news this weekend after new CIA director John Ratcliffe released an agency assessment that the Biden Administration had declined to make public.
"I had the opportunity on my first day to make public an assessment that actually took place in the Biden Administration. So it can't be accused of being political," Mr. Ratcliffe told Fox News. He said the CIA "has assessed that the most likely cause of this pandemic that has wrought so much devastation around the world was because of a lab-related incident in Wuhan. And so we will continue to investigate that moving forward.''
The agency has "low confidence" in its judgment, but that's still a switch from its previous belief that Covid likely had natural causes. The Wuhan Institute of Virology origin was always the Occam's razor explanation given that the virus first appeared in, well, Wuhan.

Low confidence simply means they don't want to fully admit it yet.

White House in talks to have Oracle and U.S. investors take over TikTok
Under the deal now being negotiated by the White House, TikTok’s China-based owner ByteDance would retain a minority stake in the company, but the app’s algorithm, data collection and software updates will be overseen by Oracle, which already provides the foundation of TikTok’s web infrastructure.
That would effectively mean American investors would own a majority stake in TikTok, but the terms of the deal could change and are still being hammered out.
“The goal is for Oracle to effectively monitor and provide oversight with what is going on with TikTok,” said the person directly involved in the talks, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the deliberations. “ByteDance wouldn’t completely go away, but it would minimize Chinese ownership.”
