What The Hell Is Going On?

There's an awful lot going no right now, and I have to wonder if it is all related in some specific way.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Al Qaeda is telling their fighters to get out of the Afghan/Waziristanarea and go home quickly.

Al Qaeda is sending British volunteers in Iraq back home.Hizbollah/Syria/Iran is killing Lebanese Ministers.

A Iraqi Sunni cabinent member was almost offed yesterday.

A guy was arrested with plans to attack nuke plants here in the US.

A nuke power plant in Tennesee developed a leak and a city full ofschools was evacuated. It was later called a false alarm.

6 Imams set up a diversionary publicity stunt for CAIR after a get togtether which James Lileks said included anti-American propaganda spouted by a very angry voiced man.

NYC is warning of suicide bombers.

Al Qaeda warned Muslims to get out of the US.

Germany discovered a plot to destroy an El Al plane.

England says they are watching 30 developing plots involving 1600potential terrorist jihadis.

Oh yes, and today George Bush's daughter was robbed in Argentina, and one of her Secret Service people was savagely beaten. This attack is being called a mugging. Hmm.

And, what's up with the White House Staffer getting beaten up outside a Waikiki nightclub last night? His cell phone was also stolen.

Are these things related in some way? What the hell is going on?

Pastorius,

I agree. This is very concerning. Right around the Dems win in the elections. Israel is floundering. US is floundering. Europe has been floundering. SE Asia is turning. Maybe Iran is already nuclear. The US military is hurting.

By 2008, the gradual awakening of the west will be significant thereby closing the window of opportunity for another sucker punch(s). A sucker punch(s) of worldly proportions - not like with the US and 911. Child's play.

Multi-country attacks. US, Britain, Australia, France,...?

Still, it seems so risky when they have been so patient up till now. Why force the issue? Look at the damage the reaction to the cartoons did. It did wake up a lot of us. Granted only a minority but it was a start. People are watching and on guard.

Why not let the demographics/populations continue to grow. It would seem such a for sure win, at least in Europe. Iraq is coming back to them.

The US and Australia would still be formidable opponents. Australia has been pretty tough.

Maybe they see the dems victory being only a temporary lull and realize they need to hurt us now while so many are still in denial.

Odd.

JMJ,
It does seem like they would have the wisdom to not attack, but on the other hands, isn't it obvious that the opposite is true. Instead of holding back, they see this as their opportunity to strike because we are weak.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong.

I think the biggest indicator here is that they are leaving Waziristan. That's an odd move.

Well, the US is being seen weak right now and in retreat, so lots of people who are hostile to the USA are coming out of the woodwork and chipping in.

This will go on until the US and the rest of the West finds a way of dealing with their enemies.

The current mode of industrial war are obviously not working, but the warmaking institutes of the West the armies seem to be paralysed and are not coming up with something that does work.

After England and France took over the Middle East in 1920 it took the Arabs about 70 years before they found a way of dealing with the Western way of war. It can take a long while before we find a way of dealing with them, but I forecast that we will change and adapt quicker than they will.

Regards,

Snouck

Why are you worried, these are lone crazy people and a tiny minority of extremists?

Let's have a party.

BTW, where Jack Bauer?

It seems to boil down to the question of whether the iron will be hotter in 2008 than it is now, and that hinges on how much "awakening" is actually going on and whether it is too little, too late. There does seem to be growing awareness in Europe that they are up to their a$$e$ in alligators, but what I sense most around my neck of the NE is PC, confusion and apathy except for the all-permeating hate-Bush anger about the Iraq "war". Another 9/11, especially if it is something truly disruptive to the economy, could have the effect of exacerbating the self-blame and demands for "change" that lost Congress.

Those 3 words of Dan Simmons' are starting to haunt me, too...

Revere Rides Again,
I have a hard time believing another 9/11 would have the effect of us attempting to figure out how we are to blame. It seems to me everything the Islamists do these days only makes more and more people wake up.

Dan Simmons story was great. I agree with him that those three words are the biggest problem in our world.

I have noticed an abundunce of news stories lately with a combination of the words "Muslim" and "Phoenix" in them.

As in Muslims traveling to Phoenix.

In could be coincedence, or something might be happenning in Phoenix.....or something might be happenning in American cities but NOT Phoneix.

The Holidays are coming up, and the Pope is about to travel to Turkey. Certain groups of terrorists cannot stand to leave those sort of symbolic dates alone.

Reminds me also of the assissination of Ahmed Shah Masoud. Just a thought.

Pim's Ghost,

I agree. This reminds me of the assassination of Massoud also. I believe the stage is being set for something, and I do think it is possible that it is planned for the Holiday season.

12/11?

Redneck Texan,
I don't understand the Phoenix connection, but I have noticed that there always seems to be a disproportionate amount of activity there.

One thing that has occurred to me is that, if they want to smuggle certain types of weapons into the US, Phoenix might be a good place to go, because it is a major city, but it is not far from the border. Therefore, there is less chance of getting caught on a long cross country drive.

Good morning friends,

Something indeed seems to be going on here (re: Ballad of the Thin Man). We have been probed by the Jihadis almost continuously during the last five years, I.C.E. Phoenix/Arizona is in shambles (always have been actually....by design claims ICE SA's---ICE Intel-Tucson are extremely frustrated), friends Rachel Ehrenfeld, Paul Williams, Joe Kaufman, and others are suffering under a barrage of Muslim lawsuits (designed to shut us all up....it ain't working!)....and in a recent interview I conducted with Hamid Mir Osama's biographer made it clear that Arizona (and it border)is well known in the tribal-lands of Pakistan.

"MSM" ® cannot be trusted....so job of bringing the "News" to the people has been left to the bloggers. The real "War against terror" is being fought by citizen patriots.....as the Founders intended.

Michael,
Yes, we are a well-ordered militia.

How do you like my new headline for IBA:

"The Paralell Government of the Entire World."

:)

"NYC is warning of suicide bombers."

Do you have a source for this? I live near NYC and have heard nothing about it in the local news, NYC government website, from friends in emergency services, etc.

I'll have to reread that Phares article.
