FOX News Conducing Poll on Rifqa Bary's Case

FOX News has a poll up at their website http://www.foxnews.com/ asking what the Florida court should do in the case of Rifqa Bary. There is also a place to comment. So far the poll is overwhelmingly in favor of keeping Rifqa in Florida. Please go add your voice and help save Rifqa.

FOX aired comments in support of Rifqa by Frank Gaffney and referred to Pam's site Atlas! Get over there and vote and leave a comment! We've got the spotlight on 'em!

Sadly, I don't think the options presented in the Fox Poll are the most reasonable.

I voted for the "rejecting precedent and allowing her to stay in Florida" option. But, that is not really feasible. You don't just reject precedent in the legal system.

And, I don't think this should be handled by the Legislature passing a law allowing her to stay. That would mean that all these cases would need to be taken up on a case by case basis by various Legislatures all over the country, and we know how hard it is to get anyone to pay attention to any of these numerous cases.

Instead, the real answer is that we must once and for all declare Sharia law (death to apostates, homosexuals, and adulterers, half-human status for women) to be contrary to our Constitution, and the preaching, or acting out of Sharia needs to be codified in our law as Sedition, punishable by 20 years in prison, or deportation to the Sharia state of the criminals choice.

Rejecting precedent would not solve the problem. A new law would.

Exactly which precedent applies to protection against threat of honor killing? As far as I am aware (housewife with no legal background) the law has not yet addressed the issue of honor killings or the contradictions of sharia justice.

Isn't that why the Fox option "The Florida legislature should pass an emergency measure to protect Bary and keep her in Florida. " . . .which, btw, is at 51% w/8921 votes?

Revereridesagain,

Thanks for letting us know about this poll. I definitively think that Rifqa should be allowed to stay in Florida away from her parents who want to kill her.

I voted for "The Florida legislature should pass an emergency measure to protect Bary and keep her in Florida." It has 51% of the votes so far, and most people favored keeping her In Florida, where she would be safe.

You'd probably be happy to know that only 7% thought that she should be sent to back to Ohio with her parents.

However we have to keep in mind that since this is Fox News, the poll may not be that accurate. Its not that I don't trust Fox News, but it maybe a biased sample.

Anonymous,
You and I are on the same side of the issue on this one. But, you have to realize our law/Legislative/Judiciary does not recognize this as a religious issue. This is an issue of child abuse and a death threat.

But, there is no proof, that I know of.

In such a case, as far as I know, the precedent is that the child would either be emancipated (maybe) of sent back to her parents.

Now, of course, the news has come out that the Department of Child and Family Services is actually taking this seriously.

That is a shock to me.

And, it is very good news.
