It's All Just A Bunch Of Fairy Tales

From Astute Bloggers:
CRUCIFIXION ERA NAIL FOUND AT TEMPLAR DIG
DAILY MIRROR:
The four-inch Roman relic, stored in an ornate box, was uncovered by archaeologists working at a fort thought to have been a former Knights Templar stronghold.

It was buried with three skeletons and three swords, including one with the religious order's cross on its blade, on the tiny island of Ilheu de Pontinha, off Madeira.

The iron nail is of the type used in thousands of crucifixions - but it is special. Archaeologist Bryn Walters said: "It dates from the 1st to 2nd centuries. You'd expect the surface to be pitted and rough after so long. But this was smooth.

"It looks like it had been handled by a lot of people over a long period of time and the acid from their hands have given it a peculiar finish."
HMMM: THE TEMPLARS SEEM TO HAVE THOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR NAIL WAS SIGNIFICANT...

"Peculiar finish" = patina. As anyone at Antiques Roadshow will tell you, don't mess with that patina.

I guarantee that those knights didn't fight the Mohammedans because of a spirit gleaned from an understanding of history and rationalism. No they fought because they believed in their culture and God even though they had an imperfect understanding of just exactly what He taught.
How else could they have maintained a base in the middle of enemy territory for years?....HOW ELSE

Pastorius,

To tell the truth, even if Jesus was real person, which most likely he was, based on what evidence we do have. Although we actually have good reason to think that we wouldn't find much about him outside the Bible. If you think about it, what would Jesus have been in the eyes of the common Roman, at the time he was crucified? Ironically, given what eventually happened, they'd regard him little more than a common criminal. So the few sources outside the Bible, such as Josephus, that do mention him, make scant mention of him, as one might expect based on that fact.

Pastorius,

By the way, even those who deny that Jesus even existed, don't deny to my knowledge that the Romans crucified people. So this in and of itself won't convince anyone that the biblical story is true.

Yes, you are right, Damien. Jesus would have been counted as little more than a common criminal/rabble rouser.

Heck, according to the Bible, Pilate wasn't even too sure what to do with him, before finally deciding to put him to death.
