I don’t know why, but Ted Cruz bothers me

He is right about ACA, but he pursued a course which accomplished nothing.
Better to have done something to HELP the people as part of a debt ceiling bill. If Obama doesn’t want to negotiate over that, well then that’s up to him. Maybe McConnell and Boehner can get Rouhani to represent them because Obama sure wanted to negotiate with HIM.
But the filibuster, instead of being Jimmy Stewart, came off to me as some kind of grandstand. Foghorn Leghorn.
I can’t tell you why I feel that why.
He doesn’t make my hair stand on end, but there’s just something.
On the other hand, Hillary who did a banana peel act on Benghazi responsibility, or Biden who advised the Navy Yard shooter on weapons, on the other side make that choice, if that WILL be the choice, a no brainer, don’t they?

Perhaps it's just the fact that he is a US senator. They pretty much all creep us out. I think of McCain, Graham, Harkin (apparently undead), not to mention Kennedy, Mikulski, etc, etc.

You could make a whole batch of new slasher movies with that cast.

Read about Ted Cruz' history. Particularly, read what Dershowitz has to say about Cruz.

He's always made me a little nervous too, but having read Dershowitz' comments, I feel better.

I read Dersh. What I remember is his surprise about Cruz moving to social 'conservative' issues.
And THAT is the kind of thing that worries me.

I see him praying to day on his knees for GOOD reason. Abedini. GOOD REASON. Why does it bother me?

Because we know the history.

But I think we are living in an age of a different kind of Socially Conservative Christian, especially since his Father is a former/repentant Communist from Cuba.

The Cruz family has been down the fascist road before,

and

if anything, Christians are too fucking Liberal now.

Trust me. I'm around them all the time.

But if you don't trust me, then ask yourself, why don't you ever hear Christians standing up for their brothers and sisters in Egypt, Syria, Kenya, or anywhere else Muslims are murdering Christians?

The answer is, because Christians are Liberal pussies now.

That Cruz IS NOT is truly a good thing, imo.

'why don't you ever hear Christians standing up' actually I wonder about this a lot.
I think about the Christians of Iraq, the Copts, the west bank and I don't get it.

Judging based upon the Christians I know, it's because they're too Liberal.

Perhaps Cruz is a modern day Don Quixote. See this post and my comments thereto.

Peter King is now an example (Syria) of how you can take a decent idea and walk off the cliff with it cheapening everything else you have said an done.

I am watching for someone who can solve the issues based on PRACTICALITY

Right now IMHO, ACA may well fall apart on its own. If Cruz intended to call attention to the ACA's faults, IMHO, I missed that. A govt shut down over this is a tactical and strategic error.

Do it over the debt. There is strong public support for controlling the debt. Specify how ACA cannot INCREASE the debt. Obviously this will increase rationing. Restrict the number of employees ACA can be responsible for. Eliminate increased IRS hiring for the ACA.

There are a lot of detail oriented actions which can be taken by people like Cruz which can be effective, but not in the limelight. These things serve the nation ideologically and practically, but may not be as gratifying to one's personal career.

Sometimes I look at Cruz and I wonder if I am looking at the Chuck Schumer in a mirror. It's all about the camera. But maybe that's just me.
