These people served us. They risked their lives for us.JUST IN: Bipartisan bill would bring 2,500 additional Afghan interpreters to US https://t.co/5BMK3vMNSy pic.twitter.com/Rm4jp7IhRs— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) March 15, 2017
And we promised them we would protect them in return for their service.
It would be a shame on us to have abandoned them, as Obama did.
Great news.
UPDATE
I am WRONG!
The United States did not make any promises to the Afghani interpreters.

I can't really agree ... why bring them here? They risked their lives for Americans who were over there risking their own lives for Afghanis. Do we know if their children and grandchildren are going to revert to fundamentalist Islam like the Afghani Taliban did, as opposed to being America-lovers like the interpreters? No way to know, so let's not bring them here. It's nice for the interpreters, it's not nice for Americans though.
Me neither.
Didn't they help us interpret because it was in the best interest of Afghanistan?
Who's the dumbass that promised them a good life in the US anyway?
I guess we did the same stupid shit in Vietnam as well.
If thats the case we need to stop "helping" anyone.
And, you know what? I was wrong. We did not promise them Visas or anything.
Absolutely DISAGREE! Our nation's blood and treasure was liberally spent on Afghan soil to help Afghan's to help improve their lot.
These 'interpreters' were well paid/bribed for their services. Their lifestyle and beliefs are not welcome in this nation. Enough with the bleeding heart welcome wagon.
Either we divest from Afghanistan completely or they pay their fair share for our assistance.
Thanks for the correction. We probably used a translator whose English was iffy, and when we said "pizza" he thought we said "Visa."
Probably.
They provided translation services because we gave them a paycheck beyond their wildest dreams. It was a business transaction. Period.
The same translator who mistook "free pizza" for "free Visa" was responsible for explaining to CENTCOM that "kill the unbelievers" in the Koran actually means "don't litter and try to eat a healthy diet"
Or "Allah is the greatest of deceivers," as Allah is a damned good Wide Receiver."
