Behind The Scenes Horse Trading on Syria?

An Anonymous commenter left the following:
Please go over to Andrea Shea King's BlogTalkRadio 9/4 program to hear from a perspective of Capitol Hill, the Honorable Elizabeth Letchworth explain what’s likely going on behind closed doors – the horse trading to get votes in support of Obama’s determination to fight a proxy war for the Saudis.
It deals with natural gas pipelines that Russia and Saudi Arabia, Qatar are competing to gain footing thru Syria to provide energy the EU market. *Contemplate also Turkey's role and it's leverage to gain EU membership
@ 5 minute mark Shae-King discusses the Drudge headline about Arab willingness to pay for US blood and treasure to secure Syria for their interests.
@6 minute mark - war over liquid natural gas (LNG) pipeline, Qatar sent $3M to support rebels in Syria to unseat Assad and place their own puppet regime to allow placement of this pipeline
@7 minute mark - Saudi $$huge to rebels - Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan jetting fm covert rebel command to Paris to Kremlin in Moscow to unseat Assad regime to place their own puppet Russia prefers Assad to block the flow across the Persian Gulf to keep GAZPROM in control of flow
@9 minute mark Shea-King discusses a 2009 article describing Qatar's desire to place a liquid natural gas pipeline to Turkey which will then transit through to the EU. Qatar to nabucco pipeline through Turkey Qatar SA Jordan Syria - Turkey
20 minute mark discusses "Obama's" red line origin and potential for US boots on the ground - (lawfare blog)THE proposed AUMF focused on Syria WMD
***very plausible stuff - must hear this program!
It seems to me that to two sides from which to pick on this war is either to support the further funding of Communist influence/control via Gazprom or increase funding Islamic expansion/influence via Nabucco (Liquid natural gas pipeline thru Arab/Turk interests). Choose neither. Their profits/prophet should be at the expense of their own blood and treasure.
Europe had better wake up because the brunt of this influence/leverage is aimed at their well being - given Turkey jockeying for increased leverage to join EU to garner ever more political influence through energy.
I would add that the United States and Canada have become HUGE producers of Liquid Natural Gas in the past few years. LNG is a byproduct of the Fracking process, and we basically have more of it than we can use.

I don't have time to do the research on this, but if there is economic horse trading on issues surrounding the war, then certainly one of the important bits to consider is America's place at the table as a future exporter of LNG.

If long term economic well being for America was part of the deal then I could soften my position against this war a little.

You have Arab interests and you also have American ones that are tied with the Arab guarantee that they will trade their oil in dollars. Whether one likes it or not, that's the way the world works right now and any alternative is just not pleasant at all.

You can either have America controlling trade routes or one of the commie nations. Muslim nations will always ride on the coattails of either America, China or Russia.

But I doubt very much this war is being fought, at least when it comes to Obama's ideals, for any economic benefit of America. I have a feeling he's just hell bent on helping Muslim Brotherhood (Al Qaeda) achieve what they want. And he doesn't give a crap about wasting lives of some of the American soldiers for the greater good of Islam.

I am wondering though how this war may affect Israel and their new gas finds.

Putin Warns Obama, Russia Could Come To Syria's Aid over US Strike

Can't help but think this is all part of O's calculus. He hates our military. Sending our over-stretched and underfunded military into an unwarranted war makes our nation more vulnerable. Add a counter strike against these troops by Russia and all hell breaks loose.
Europe has relied on our nation's might for so long, Putin knows he has the West stuck between a rock and a hard place. Notice how those EU nations that rely on ME &/or Russian supplied energy backed out of taking action in Syria. They are damed either way.

The Arab offer to fund US invasion of Syria will tie our military up while energy costs soar and fill the coffers of jihad wet dreams to annihilate all who oppose Islamization of their cultures.

Every American politician that voted for action in Syria, Libya or Egypt or Tunisia on behalf of Saudi interests is suspect of being on their payroll. Prostitutes - one and all.

We don't need that LNG. We have plenty of LNG here in North America.

Pasto,

Until Canada and the US can become a huge part of the gas and oil export market, the US needs the Middle East oil traded in dollars (otherwise, you'll have to deal with hyperinflation and depression). That is necessary for the US economic engine to function (and hence the world economic engine which is, whether other countries like to admit it or not, totally dependent on US economy).

Once the US and Canada become bigger "export" players, then the terms can be set with regards to oil trade in dollars without kowtowing to Arab countries.

A better plan would be to attack the GCC countries and break the back of the OPEC cartel and then set the rules. But I don't see any US administration wanting or willing to do that.

Oil makes the world run. It is in all our interests that America controls oil interests and its trade and flow. So far you guys have been able to do that by making sure your currency is used for trade. I hope and pray for the day when you guys will be able to control it with supply of oil itself.

Back to the war in Syria. Again I don't see the war against Syria being fought for anything good for the US. This is a Saudi proxy war. Classic Sunni vs Shiite with other benefits, if any, as side-effects.

Yeah, I agre with you on Syria.

the fact is, America is set to become a net exporter of oil later in this decade.

This is no thanks to Obama, who if I am not mistkaken HAS NOT GRANTED A SINGLE NEW LEASE IN THE ENTIRE TIME OF HIS PRESIDENCY.

All of the increase in oil production in the USA is the result of fracking on lands which were once thought to have been depleted. The fracking process allows us to get much deeper oil.

The byproduct of fracking is LNG.

We have far more LNG than we need.

Soon, about 20-40% of all vehicular gas consumption (trucking industry) will be switched over to LNG. This will happen over the next 10-15 years.

This means, we will use less oil.

At the same time, we are increasing oil production.

This means we are going to be the major player in oil production.

put this together with Canada and Mexico and North America will be the powerhouse.

The more Islam causes trouble, the worse it is for them, because eventually americans will tire of the Obama bullshit and we will elect an triumphalist American president who will exercise a real US energy policy with hegemony in mind.

Saudi Arabia is already becoming less and less of a player.

I agree with everything you said.

I see America becoming a big player as well (if not for America, Canada and Mexico won't be able to make much of a supply to shift balance). Its not a matter of if but a matter of WHEN now.

Once you guys elect someone with a hint of brains, you guys will be able to make the next century an American century as well and with not a lot of effort (as you pointed out, fracking is doing wonders where no more oil could be pumped out of).

By the way, I want to clarify one thing. Its not like others are doing America a favor by trading in dollars. If not for America, oil trade routes would be easy pickings for pirates. No other country has the navy or the will power to protect trade routes like the US does. No one wants countries like China and Russia patrolling world waters anyway.

If the US doesn't protect trade routes, the world economy collapses. I'm glad the US doesn't do it for free.

As for Saudi Arabia. It doesn't matter much with Russia and the US already bigger players than it. I think the problem lies in the US considering it an important ally and hence bloating the Saudi ego.

I can't wait for all this to happen. The thing is, America is hated no matter what we do. We might as well deserve it, at least a little bit.
