OH, AND WHILE WE'RE DISCUSSING HOW FUCKED NEW ZEALAND IS:

There really is not much distance between the above two headlines.

If you can get an advanced civilization to believe their progress, 

their technology, their education, their luxury, their artistic culture, their protection of the rights of women and minorities, 

are worth no more than the culture of the indigenous nomads whose 30-year long lives were spent tilling the dust and praying for rain, 

then,

 

you have created a society of people so poor in spirit that they will take any vaccination shot, straight up their asses, if that's what the government tells them they should do.
