Thinking about the unthinkable. No wonder I have nothing to say.
From the Washington Times:
A nuclear device detonated near the White House would kill roughly 100,000 people and flatten downtown federal buildings, while the radioactive plume from the explosion would likely spread toward the Capitol and into Southeast D.C., contaminating thousands more.
The blast from the 10-kiloton bomb — similar to the bomb dropped over Hiroshima during World War II — would kill up to one in 10 tourists visiting the Washington Monument and send shards of glass flying the length of the National Mall, in a scenario that has become increasingly likely to occur in a major U.S. city in recent years, panel members told a Senate committee yesterday.
"It's inevitable," said Cham E. Dallas, director of the Institute for Health Management and Mass Destruction Defense at the University of Georgia, who has charted the potential explosion's effect in the District and testified before a hearing of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. "I think it's wistful to think that it won't happen by 20 years."

Al Jazeera's DC office is looking for a producer.
Perhaps an infidel should apply and be a sleeper inside this organization.
Looks like Al Jazeera is also looking for an editor.
1) It is irresponsible for the government, and its officials to adopt the attitude of 'oh well, it can't be stopped'
2) If an attempt is inevitable, "THEN WHAT ARE YOU PREPARED TO DO", first?
Right, epaminondas. I remember when our government officials were resigned to the fact that we were going to get hit again not long after 9/11, seemingly with no idea or desire to do something to the enemy that would stop them. To hit them where it hurts, and shock Them for once.
I'm sick of hearing that such-and-such kind of attack is "inevitable." It sounds like surrender!
Why the hell do "experts" say things like this?
Why not, if such a statement is made, not follow it up with "Nuke Mecca and Medina, at both of which our nuke missiles are already pointed?
Bosch,

Yes, that's exactly what was going on right after 9/11.
Maybe it's just me, but this "inevitability" theme reminds me the fatalism in Islam: "There is nothing we can do. Allah's will be done."
We ought to put multiple countries on notice that, if we are hit with a WMD attack, we will level their major cities.
The only way we're going to get hit with a WMD attack is if a certain small group of countries assists in that attack, either directly or indirectly.
They ought to know that it is in their best interest to not even make a mistake.

Nelson DeMille discusses this is his latest book.
His solution ...a very quiet unquestioning message to this small group of countries... 'We have a list of cities we call group A, among which is Mecca, if a WMD attack of any kind occurs in the USA, we will remove this entire group...if this results in world wide attacks against the USA, then we have a list of cities we call group B'....
go to ronaldweinland.com and listen to the radio interview from april 10 2008. It explains when and how the united states will be destroyed. Starting in june 8, 2008 -july 16 2008, we will be attacked by nuclear bombs! Dont laugh and ignore this!
