Disney Waves The White Flag to CAIR, Will Allow Woman to Wear Hijab

I don't know about you, but if US corporations want my money, they are going to have to stand against Islam.

Simple as that.

Fuck Disney.

From Weasel Snippers:

(LA Times)- Disneyland has agreed to allow a company intern to wear her religious headscarf at work, according to a Muslim rights group that intervened after the woman was told she would have to work in the stockroom.
The Chicago woman was hired as a vacation planner after a phone interview. When she arrived in California for her internship orientation, she was asked by Disney representatives why she had not mentioned her hijab, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The woman was told she would have to take a position with less guest interaction, working in the stockroom until a “customized uniform” could be made, according to the group.
She was told that making the customized uniform would take about five months, approximately the length of her entire internship, according to CAIR.
The group intervened, and after a week Disney agreed to accommodate the woman in her original position as a vacation planner, it said.
Vacation planners are costumed employees, whose outfits include an optional baseball-style cap. Unlike other employees, the worker in question will not have the option to take off her hat while wearing her head scarf, Brown said. Vacation planners sell tickets in a box office.

BOYCOTT NESTLE

Expanding Nestlé's halal presence in EuropeNestlé Halal products are labelled with a certification that provides assurance
that it is manufactured, imported and distributed under the strictest ...

This one gets the reality test and maybe that is proper. If people are not offput and go to her, then this is no worse than some jewish guys with the sideburns and big yarmulke. If people are, then Disney will have to publish a dress code that will apply to all.

And PS please, anon, discriminate for me the difference between Nestle putting a "U", or a "D" or a "Pareve" label on their foods or going thru a parallel process to say it's halal.

They already had a dress code which she has blatantly, and successfully broke. This is like a nun in a habit doing the job. I'll bet they never would have accommodated that!

Epaminondas said...

Maybe we need one to test that

Not everything in life can be tested, therefore we have to make judgments based on all the knowledge and information we have on hand.
On that basis I will say there is no way Disney would accommodate a nun in like manner, and to think so would be naive.

I really like your blog! I especially appreciate the music.

I think you should put a NSFW warning on explicit porn.

Having said my piece, I will now
go hit the donate button in hopes that you will continue the good work.

Anon,

The music is great and particular to this site. Since music is unpisslamic, they celebrate it here. There is no donate button here. And the graphic is pretty graphic, but they already have a warning label to the site. Anything goes here. You can like it or not. If you don't, you are always welcome to express your opinion.

One thing for sure, I haven't been to WZ today, but I'm pretty sure the are not using the same graphic:)

Thanks, Anonymous.

We have no donate button. I appreciate the offer though.

We usually do not post porn images. This story got me mad and I went over the line (but that does happen once in awhile).

Epa,
Do you really think a hijab is no worse than a yarmulke?

How about a burqa?

Where would you draw the line?

midnight rider said...

I largely agree with Epa on this, which should surprise no one because I've said it before.

The hijab -- hewadscarf -- is no different in my eyes than the headscarf my Catholic grandmother has worn to Mass every week of her 95 years. And so no different than a yarmulke or the turban thing
Sikhs wear, nor the scarf their women wear. WITH THIS CAVEAT: THAT THEY ARE WEARING IT WILLINGLY AND NOT UNDER THREAT OF PAIN NOR PUNISHMENT IF THEY DON'T.

That said, I don't think any religion has any place forcing a business to accept their religious dress or mores into the privately owned business. If you don't like the fucking rules, go work elsewhere.

But ehre, again, Epa's is right and Disney, or anyone else for that matter, must make it one rule for all, unbending.

The burqa is a different matter entirely and should be outlawed entirely.

Absolutely not the same thing. About as equal as a swastika tattoo is to a 'mom' tattoo.
Saying they're the same is moral equivalence of the worst kind.
This shit ain't happening in a vacuum.
As far as Disney is concerned, they absolutely have to treat all the same. I confidently contend that they wouldn't.

Wrong.

So why is political correctness picking up on the Christian Cross?

Is it my imagination or do we have the smartest set of Anonymous commenters of any blog?

That is a HUGE BRUSH, anon and one without anything to back the assertion.

Then you recommend US markets make it impossible for american muslims SOME OF WHOM SERVE IN THE MILITARY and their families some of whom have been widowed to buy food there?

Please backup how a halal hot dog in Hannaford brothers, the largest supermarket chain in New England, supports terrorism? Or how NEstle going thru the process to declare their food halal contributes to terrorism?

I didn't take this kind of shit in reverse from a bunch of messed up Arabs from the gulf and I'll be damned if I start now.

Pasto ... if a woman is voluntary in wearing the headgear, OR WHATEVER, it's a yarmulke to me.

The line falls on a drivers license where THE PURPOSE is a privilege for which positive identification for all is compulsory
