While I realize that no current administration, nor current congress can restrain any future administration or congress, whatever we do we must not put these people on a path that leads to them having the right to vote. With the demographic changes in states like Kalifornia, it becomes nearly impossible for anyone other than a (D) candidate to be elected president should even a few more states swing over to the Mexican vote.

The promise is to grant visas to people here (renewable every three years) and to allow them to enter the process that will give them an opportunity to enter the quota system that's in place. So it's not exactly giving them citizenship. Frankly it's worth it if anchor babies, chain migration, and the visa lottery end and the wall is built.

At least start building the Wall and have a solid contract with builders before granting visas to DACA's.

Question: How did we go from 800,000 DACA's to 1.8 million DACA's?

The ten to twelve year pathway assures a few things:

* Dreamers will not be voting in the next couple of elections. This will not skew in favor of the Democrats.

* Ten to twelve years pathway and with a focus on learning English, a merit system - the best will rise to the challenge, the remainder deported.

* Nothing noted regarding TPS for the 200,000 holders of that designation. I believe the POTUS wants that status to be rescinded because it has been abused.

In looking at negotiations this one appears stacked in the favor of the current administration's robust political agenda.

I agree with AOW. Funding and contracts and the initial building of the wall must come before the DACA begins.

800,000 to 1.8 million?

Maybe because Trump is acknowledging the truth, rather than lying and downplayiing the way the Dems do.

Breitbart is screeching, "Amnesty Don!"

They aren't thinking in terms of RealPolitik.

There will have to be some kind of deal for the DACA's. Trump is a pragmatist and understands this reality.
