Allegory for Barack Obama

Exclusive: Beyoncé lip-synched Star Spangled Banner at inauguration

Beyoncé did not sing the national anthem live at President Obama’s inauguration.
Millions of viewers around the world were  stunned by the singer’s spectacular rendition of the anthem but The Times has learnt that she was lip-syncing to a pre-recorded backing track.
A spokeswoman for the Marine Corp Band said it was standard procedure to record a backing track and Beyoncé decided shortly before her performance to rely on the studio version rather than risk singing it live on the Capitol.
I don’t know how this practice got started, and I SURE WOULD like to know which performers bailed on this opportunity.
A once every 4 years opportunity, a live crowd of half a million to a million or more?
Presidents should insist on a live performance.
Performers with this opportunity should PERFORM.
And party has nothing to do with it.
At every opportunity to increase trust, cynicism increases instead.
Does anyone in Washington understand the end point of that process?

How many times in recent years have we witnessed performers forget the lyrics to the national anthem? It's only going to get worse as time goes on, given the tolerance of 'educators' permitting students to sit out the pledge to this country's flag and remain seated during the anthem. Lip sync is the performers teleprompter alternative. Whats good for the potus . . .

Wow. You're right, that is a perfect allegory for Barack. Great post, Epa.
