Barbara Walters on Obama: "We Thought He Was Going To Be the Next Messiah"

BARBARA WALTERS: Well, you’ve touched on it to a degree. He made so many promises. We thought that he was going to be – I shouldn’t say this at Christmastime, but – the next messiah. And the whole ObamaCare, or whatever you want to call it, the Affordable Health Act, it just hasn’t worked for him, and he’s stumbled around on it, and people feel very disappointed because they expected more.

I disagree that the expectations were high for Obama. Those of us paying attention know that he had never accomplished much of anything of substance on his own; and accomplished nothing noteworthy outside of winning political campaigns. The man was simply not fit to govern my local PTA meeting, much less the most powerful nation the world has ever seen.

To the extent there were any expectations of Obama, they were there only because he and the media created them and the media believed its own lie.

Oh, but expectations WERE high, particularly in 2008 when voters were casting ballots.

Perhaps we should ask this question: WHY were expectations so high? I saw high expectations from a lot more people than diehard Dems.

To clarify...

Yes, the media had a lot to do with it. But why were so many people so willing to take the word of the media?

Besides, I know a lot of people who don't watch the mainstream media. They still voted for Obama. Why, why, why?
