COVID-19 Vaccines: Not A Panacea

[Caveat: this post is not an argument for refusing to take COVID-19 vaccines. For such an argument, see Tammy Swofford's Why this Registered Nurse will Opt out for the Covid 19 Vaccine]

China has ruined the world!  

Hyperbole?  Maybe, maybe not.  But China surely has changed the world for the foreseeable future.

Please be informed as to what these COVID-19 vaccines actually provide.  What they provide is not in line with what we have been led to believe — that is, that these vaccines will return us to normal.

Try not to get lost in the weeds here (emphases mine)....

[E]ven after more people get the shots, we’ll still have to wear masks and stay a respectful six feet apart from each other. [...] 

First, there’s the question of efficacy. Yes, Moderna and Pfizer reported that their shots are 94.5% and 95% effective, respectively. But that efficacy refers to the vaccines’ ability to protect against COVID-19 disease—and not necessarily against infection with the virus. Both of the rigorous trials to test the vaccines were designed to measure COVID-19 illness—trial volunteers were randomly given either the vaccine or a placebo, and then asked to report any symptoms of COVID-19 they experienced, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath or muscle aches. The study researchers then determined whether or not to test them. If people tested positive, they were logged as a confirmed COVID-19 case, and the researchers then looked at the group of COVID-19 cases and compared how many people had been vaccinated versus how many had gotten placebo. The effectiveness measured whether these people went on to develop more symptoms of COVID-19. 

That means that people who are vaccinated are not necessarily immune to getting infected; but they are more likely to experience fewer symptoms and not get as sick as those who aren’t vaccinated.

[B]ecause the vaccines do not necessarily protect against infection, that means that public health measures such as wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding indoor gatherings are still critical to containing the virus.

[T]he ultimate goal in controlling the pandemic, herd immunity, likely won’t happen until well into next year, when enough people are vaccinated and can ward off serious illness. “Not until a substantial proportion of the population is vaccinated, and the caseload has dropped to very low levels, will we be able to breathe (without a mask) a sigh of relief,” says Emanuel Goldman, professor of microbiology at Rutgers University. And even then, he points out, researchers will have to remain vigilant about tracking any changes in the virus as it finds fewer and fewer welcoming hosts. “The virus might have other ideas and try to change in a way that makes the vaccine less effective.” 

Only by vaccinating millions of people, and monitoring how their immune systems react, will experts get a better handle on what it takes to extinguish COVID-19 or at least make it much more difficult for it to spread....

Whether or not these first-generation vaccines prevent transmission of the virus remains unknown.  Therefore, masking and social distancing will likely remain the order of the day for a long time.  **sigh**

The best news is that, so far, a very small percentage of our population has caught this damn virus.  We shall see what we shall see when the Thanksgiving and Christmas surges have weighed in.

Recovery From Coronavirus — Or Not

From the early days of getting stats about the Ripley, which I have dubbed COVID-19, I have been more concerned with the rate of recovery more than the mortality rate.  After all, at my age (68), awareness of one's own mortality is, or should be, a given.

I am particularly concerned about the definition of the word recovery.

Those of you who know my personal situation as caregiver of my husband, considered "recovered" by the doctors.  Mr. AOW is far from recovered by any normal definition of the word: we have had, since his major stroke of 2009 at the age of 59, a hospital bed and a bedside potty here in our living room.

Nick Cordero’s Wife Shares Health Update: ‘He Should’ve Woken Up By Now’

Nick Cordero, the Tony-Award winning actor who starred on Broadway’s Waitress and Rock of Ages, as well as the TV series Blue Bloods, has been suffering from complications related to coronavirus for nearly a month. While being in a medically induced coma, Cordero’s wife, Amanda Kloots, a former Radio City Rockette, has kept friends, family, and fans updated on his health throughout his extended battle with COVID-19.

Kloots, 38, has truly been a vision of strength and hope amid her husband’s dire medical situation. After he was admitted to the hospital on March 31, his condition quickly went from stable to worse. On April 11, Cordero needed to be resuscitated in the middle of the night, and doctors needed to put Cordero on an ECMO machine, which helps “support his heart and his lungs,” she explained.

After it seemed like Cordero, 41, was making progress, Cordero needed his right leg amputated. The surgery went well which revived Kloots spirit. On April 21, she said, “I’m actually, for the first time in a couple of days, feeling like things are slowly progressing. So I have a lot of hope and a lot of — I’m feeling like things are going in a good way.”

On April 23, Kloots shared another update on Cordero’s health. “We’re in a bit of a waiting game,” she said. “There’s nothing on the MRI that says he won’t wake up, which is great news. We are so happy about that. However, he hasn’t woken up and it’s been 12 days of sedation and the doctors do say he should’ve woken up by now.”...

Danish Serum Institute Tests 5000 People And Determines HUGE Numbers of People Have ALREADY Had Coronavirus

On Tuesday rounded Denmark 5000 infected with the coronavirus. But you can follow the Statens Serum institut’s assessment, then the number in fact, between 30-80 times higher. according to a new report published by the national board of Health. 

Statens Serum Institut assume that the real number of infected people in Denmark is 30-80 times higher than the number being demonstrated. 

The assumption is done on the basis of studies from, among others, Germany and Iceland. 

Furthermore, It appears that studies of 1000 blood donors collected in the period 1.-3 April in the Capital Region of Denmark shows that 3.5 percent of them have been infected with the coronavirus.

They estimate the number of people who have already had Coronavirus to be 30-80 times higher than the number of known cases.

Denmark's population is 5,600,000.

The number of known cases is 5386 as of today.

5386 X 30 = 161580, which is 2.9% of the total population.

5386 X 80 = 430,880, which is 7.7% of the population.

Let's split the difference (very approximately) and say a flat 300,000 people have had Coronavirus in Denmark.

Denmark has had 218 deaths so far.

218 cases divided by 300,000 cases means that .0007 of people who get Coronavirus die of Coronavirus.

In the 2017-2018 flu season, 45,000,000 Americans got the Flu, and 61,000 died.

61,000 divided by 45,000,000 equals .001.

Is it possible the Coronavirus is actually LESS LETHAL than the Flu was in 2017-2018?

It seems impossible to believe, but that is what the numbers are telling us so far.

I suspect that these numbers will likely be found to be off, but still much closer to the truth than the wild predictions that 2 million would die in the United States.

And remember, it was those kinds of crazy predictions which were initially used to justify the shutdown of the economy.

Now for my family's own stories.......


My father's younger sister, about age 7, died of "the aftereffects of the flu." Something like the 1990 film Awakenings? Full movie HERE at YouTube, albeit poor quality.  I highly recommend the film! It is available via Amazon Prime Video.

Dad occasionally spoke of what happened when his sister died: "The undertaker embalmed Chrissie at the house — and dumped the blood behind the barn."  The funeral service and burial were private.  The influenza didn't stop until everything was shut down: schools, funerals, churches, etc.  And the government refused to believe that something terrible was happening with Americans' health.  Until, that is, bodies began piling up on the sidewalks and in the streets of Washington, D.C.

My maternal grandmother (1898-1981) had a robust immune system. It fell to her to take care of her brother Walter, who brought influenza to their remote location in the mountains of East Tennessee when he was discharged from the US Army, fell ill himself, and gave the flu to his brother-in-law Fred, my grandmother's husband.  My grandmother sent her two children, one born in 1916 and the other in 1918 to her parents' farm and took care of Walter and Fred.

My grandmother related the story of those days in this way: "I got almost no sleep.  I went back and forth between the river for cold water and the menfolks' foreheads.  They were out of their heads with fever.  My sister brought food, called to me, and set the food down about 25 feet from the house; I fetched the food from there.  I don't remember how long all this went on.  Seemed like forever.  But Walter and Fred got well, and life went back to normal."  I asked Wawa how she stood those weeks of hard work as a nurse.  Her response: "Life isn't about what you want to do.  Life is about what you have to do."

Why Are So Many People Dying In Italy

The Word Of The Days Is "COMORBIDITY" 

Of all the locations with clusters of kung flu infections, Italy is the most active. Astonishingly so, with (as of 3/22/2020 @ 12:13 PM Eastern Daylight Time Z-4) 53,578 confirmed cases, and 4825 deaths. (As always, go to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for up to date numbers.)  

There was a story yesterday asking this very question in The Telegraph. They identified several things that might be contributing to this: 

• Demographics: Italy is, on average, a country full of old people. According to the CIA World Factbook, Italy is the 5th oldest country in the world. We know that COVID-19 is more likely to cause death in older people. 
• Comorbidity, that is, association with other diseases: Italy's aging population, as well as being old, also has lots of old people with heart disease, COPD, long histories of smoking, high blood pressure, and diabetes. 
• There's a geographic factor here as well: most of the deaths are coming from heavily industrial Lombardy, which also has a long history of bad airpollution. 
• The most interesting one is that the Italian National Institute of Health thinks cause of death is being over-identified as COVID-19. This one is sure to start an argument in the comments, but heres the direct quote: 

“On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity - many had two or three,” he says.

COMPARING ESTIMATES TO HARD NUMBERS: The Coronavirus Fatality Rate Reported by the Media Is Likely Highly Inaccurate

Joe Hoft at Gateway Pundit has a good point here:

3. The current estimate for the coronavirus fatality rate is about 3.4%. 

The estimates for the fatality rate for the coronavirus are shocking. The CDC released one report in February stating the rate varies between 12% and 1%: 

Our estimates of the risk for death in Wuhan reached values as high as 12% in the epicenter of the epidemic and ≈1% in other, more mildly affected areas. 

A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and China estimates the mortality rate to be around 3.8% based on actual results: 

As of 20 February, 2114 of the 55,924 laboratory confirmed cases have died (crude fatality ratio [CFR2] 3.8%) (note: at least some of whom were identified using a case definition that included pulmonary disease). 

The overall CFR varies by location and intensity of transmission (i.e. 5.8% in Wuhan vs. 0.7% in other areas in China). Other reports are that the WHO estimates the mortality rate to be around 3.4%: 

The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated the mortality rate from Covid-19 is about 3.4%. That is higher than seasonal flu and is cause for concern – but even if it is correct, more than 96% of people who become infected with the coronavirus will recover. 

As of today, the actual fatality rate for those who were confirmed to have had the coronavirus is 3.84%. This is the number of fatalities from the virus divided by the number of individuals who were confirmed with the virus.  

4. The same rate for the flu is 10% (but the media tells you it’s .1%). 

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, according to CDC numbers, in the US in the 2019-2020 flu season, there were 222,000 confirmed cases of the flu from testing and an estimated 36 million flu cases in the United States. There were 22,000 confirmed deaths from the flu. 

Note that the number of deaths and confirmed cases (through testing) of the flu in the US are based on actual data. 

The number of individuals who contracted the flu is an estimate by experts. There is no way to know who had the flu in the US because many cases are not severe and people do not have a test done to confirm they had the flu. They believe their symptoms are minor and go on with their normal lives thinking they have a cold or something similar. 

Because of this, the CDC must estimate and they estimated 36 million people had the flu in this past flu season.

We have a confusion of language here. 

A "pandemic" has to (1) spread globally *and* (2) infect "an exceptionally high percentage of the population." 

So far, 156k people have gotten ill.

There are 7.71 billion people on Earth.

That's .00002.

That's 1 in 50,000.

6456 out of 7.71 billion people have died globally.

That is one in 14 to the 11th Godzillion by my calculations. 

I can't even find a fucking calculator on the internet that will compute that number and show it as anything legible.

You fucking try. 

Maybe it will take your pansy-assed mind off sitting on the pooper, wiping your ass, and worrying.

The Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, where there just happens to be a Bioweapons lab.

The first two countries to be heavily infected are China, and it's partner Iran, who China helped set up with nuclear weapons.

According to a strategic dossier from International Institute for Strategic Studies, Iran turned away from Western suppliers and obtained nuclear assistance from Russia and China in a number of key areas, including uranium mining, milling and conversion, as well as technology for heavy-water research reactors.

After that, the next nation to be heavily infected was Italy, who has been fielding migrants en masse floating across the Mediterranean from predominantly Muslim countries.

And now, suddenly, Europe is about to be hit by yet another wave of Middle-Eastern "refugees", the last one of which totaled over 1 million people.

Frank Plummer – Canadian Scientist Key To Coronavirus Investigation Assassinated In Africa?

WARNING: At this point, we have NO IDEA whether the claims made in the story below are true or not.

In a very strage turn of events, renowned scientist Frank Plummer who received Saudi SARS Coronavirus sample and was working on Coronavirus (HIV) vaccine in the Winnipeg based Canadian lab from where the virus was smuggled by Chinese Biowarfare agents and weaponized as revealed in GreatGameIndia investigation, has died in mysterious conditions. Frank Plummer was the key to the Chinese Biological Espionage case at Winnipeg’s National Microbiology Laboratory.

According to CBC, Plummer, 67, was in Kenya, where he was a keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the University of Nairobi’s collaborative centre for research and training in HIV/AIDS/STIs. Dr. Larry Gelmon, who helped set up that meeting, said Plummer collapsed and was taken to hospital in Nairobi, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. No confirmed cause of death has yet been released. Plummer was born and raised in Winnipeg, where he headed up Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory for several years.
What is not mentioned in the CBC report however is that Plummer worked in the same National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) in Winnipeg, Canada from where Chinese Biowarfare agent Xiangguo Qiu and her colleagues smuggled SARS Coronavirus to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology where it is believed to have been weaponized and leaked.

Infact, as GreatGameIndia reported in our exclusive report on Coronavirus Bioweapon, as Scientific Director Frank Plummer was the one who acquired the SARS Coronavirus sample of the Saudi patient at the NML Winnipeg Lab from Ron Fouchier, a leading virologist at the Erasmus Medical Center (EMC) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands who was sent the virus by Egyptian virologist Dr. Ali Mohamed Zaki who isolated and identified a previously unknown type of Coronavirus from the Saudi patient’s lungs.

Fouchier sequenced the virus from a sample sent by Zaki using a broad-spectrum “pan-coronavirus” real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method to test for distinguishing features of a number of known coronaviruses known to infect humans.

This Coronavirus sample arrived at Canada’s NML Winnipeg facility on May 4, 2013 from the Dutch lab received by Frank Plummer. The Canadian lab grew up stocks of the virus and used it to assess diagnostic tests being used in Canada. Winnipeg scientists worked to see which animal species can be infected with the new virus.

Research was done in conjunction with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s national lab, the National Centre for Foreign Animal Diseases which is housed in the same complex as the National Microbiology Laboratory.

This Winnipeg based Canadian lab was targeted by Chinese agents in what could be termed as Biological Espionage. The viruses was reportedly stolen from the Canadian lab by Chinese Biowarfare agent Xiangguo Qiu and her colleagues and smuggled to none other than the Wuhan Institute of Virology where the virus is believed to be weaponized and leaked.

Further, Frank Plummer was also working on HIV vaccine and interesting recently published study be Indian scientists found HIV-like injections in Wuhan Coronavirus – the key that made the jump to people possible. The Indian Scientists came under massive online criticism by Social Media experts and were  forced to withdraw their study, in retaliation of which now the Indian authorities have opened an investigation against China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology. Although it should be noted that now China has started using HIV vaccine to cure Coronavirus.

Frank Plummer was the key to the entire investigation on the origins of Coronavirus Bioweapon. But will the Canadian government open an investigation into this matter?
