Unless you've been living under a rock, you have heard at least a portion of Obama's most recent statement on immigration.

It’s actually not Congress’ “job” to pass immigration legislation. It is their job to pass bills they think will help the country, and that doesn’t necessarily include legislation Obama wants or that he can alter to his liking after passage, as he has, for example, the Affordable Care Act.

If we read the Constitution, we see that it is one of the tasks of Congress to rein in the executive branch of government — not to fulfill the agenda of the President in the Oval Office. Obama's talk of obstruction is whining, a demagogue's words not in keeping with the spirit and intent of our governing document.

Obama’s “Administrative Fix” is All About Control

1. Obama is getting out in front of panicking Democrats to make it seem like he’s leading. He’s not. He’s trying to head off a panicked stampede.

2. The fix is not about protecting consumers. It’s about protecting Democratic senators who voted for ObamaCare. And it took a lot of arm twisting to get that far. Which means you’ve got till 2014 and then Obama no longer has to worry about the impact of any further elections and he’ll get even worse than he is already.

3. Like everything Obama does, this is about retaining his one-man imperial control over everything. Even if he has to scratch the paint on his shiny new law, he would rather do it himself, since it makes it easier for him to control it, and it keeps Congress in an even weaker state.

4. The combination of insurer unreadiness and Blue State sabotage from elected liberals, of the kind we’re already seeing in Washington (the state, not the city) will create new targets for blame. The media will point out that Obama “did everything he could”. Now it’s the fault of the states and the insurers.

5. The insurers have been made into the bad guys. I have no sympathy for them. Collaborators get what they deserve. And it may be a lesson for them about how quickly they go under the bus when they collaborate in Socialist schemes.

6. This won’t protect Obama the way he thinks it will. If he had gotten out in front of it much earlier, before the sense that he had lied took root, things might have been different. But people are still going to be dealing with most of the same problems and while the media will urge them to blame insurers, the use of ObamaCare is going to pass the buck back up to the top.

It’s hard to blame insurers when everyone knows the only reason their policies vanished is because of ObamaCare. And after the Dems, including Obama, spent weeks defending the cancellations as a good thing, while lying that the plans were bad, the fix isn’t going to make that much of a difference. It will help some people, but those people already had to deal with stress, worry and confusion.

None of that will make them more likely to vote Dem in 2014.

I'm not so sure about that last sentence.

A few short hours after his mea culpa speech today, Obama was speechifying at a steel plant in Cleveland, Ohio, and vowing to "see this through" until his last days in office.

The Cult of Obama is still very strong. Disbelieve that at your own peril.

Today is the gubernatorial election in Virginia (Cuccinelli, Republican, vs. McAuliffe, Democrat).

In 2009, Obama endorsed the Democratic Party candidate for governor here in Virginia. The result: a GOP sweep.

Today we'll find out if history repeats itself in the Commonwealth.

Obama's Monday News Blitz

As the lead-up to his prime time presidential speech on Syria Tuesday, President Obama Monday will conduct interviews with the NBC, ABC and CBS network anchors, as well as with PBS, CNN, and Fox, according to a White House official.

The interviews will air Monday night.

The foundation is being laid right now by the networks: Syria, Syria, Syria. At the moment, I am watching CBS, but all the other networks are doing the same thing.

"Can Obama write his own laws?"

As a reaction to the crack epidemic of the 1980s, many federal drug laws carry strict mandatory sentences. This has stirred unease in Congress and sparked a bipartisan effort to revise and relax some of the more draconian laws.

Traditionally — meaning before Barack Obama — that’s how laws were changed: We have a problem, we hold hearings, we find some new arrangement ratified by Congress and signed by the president.

That was then. On Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder, a liberal in a hurry, ordered all U.S. attorneys to simply stop charging nonviolent, non-gang-related drug defendants with crimes that, while fitting the offense, carry mandatory sentences. Find some lesser, non-triggering charge. How might you do that? Withhold evidence — for example, the amount of dope involved.

In other words, evade the law, by deceiving the court if necessary. “If the companies that I represent in federal criminal cases” did that, said former deputy attorney general George Terwilliger, “they could be charged with a felony.”

But such niceties must not stand in the way of an administration’s agenda. Indeed, the very next day, it was revealed that the administration had unilaterally waived Obamacare’s cap on a patient’s annual out-of-pocket expenses — a one-year exemption for selected health insurers that is nowhere permitted in the law. It was simply decreed by an obscure Labor Department regulation.

Yet this president is not only untroubled by what he’s doing, but open and rather proud. As he tells cheering crowds on his never-ending campaign-style tours: I am going to do X — and I’m not going to wait for Congress.

That’s caudillo talk. That’s banana republic stuff. In this country, the president is required to win the consent of Congress first.

At stake is not some constitutional curlicue. At stake is whether the laws are the law. And whether presidents get to write their own.

In other words, we have a lawless administration.

President Obama's approach is worse than Charles describes. Legislation is a product of compromise. If President Obama is allowed to continue disregarding laws he doesn't personally agree with, the legislative process is a sham. Legislators can have no confidence that provisions they negotiate for as part of the compromise will be enforced.

Plus, let's not forget that Obamacare was his own legislation, passed only by Democrats, and even then, he's refusing to enforce it!

The only recourse at this point, since Obama's lawlessness is expanding and quickening, is a new judicial interpretation of standing that would give citizens a right to sue for enforcement of the law as written.

“Obama’s been virtually absent from the legislative process” of replacing his sequester, reports Politico. After getting the $600 billion in tax hikes he wanted last month (with no spending cuts), “there has been no discernible effort by the White House to work on a bill that might pass.”

“The Obama administration seems to be spending far more time warning of the consequences of the sequester — and blaming Republicans for it — than engaging in actual negotiations that would prevent it,” says ABC News.

“The president hasn’t actually come up with a proposal to avert sequestration,” says David Brooks in the New York Times, “let alone one that is politically plausible.”

“Tuesday's event had the feeling of a campaign commercial that went too far to be believed,” says the Los Angeles Times.

Politico says calls to GOP leaders were “perfunctory,” meant to “inoculate” the president from criticism that he’s campaigning instead of urging Senate Democrats to follow the House and pass legislation replacing his sequester. Their headline asks, “Is President Obama overplaying sequester hand?”

Meanwhile, this morning the mainstream media are so thrilled that Michelle Obama appeared at yesterday's Oscar Awards and, a day or so earlier, danced with Jimmy Fallon.

This Election Campaign

It's been death by political ads and political robo calls here in the battleground state of Virginia.

I'm sick of Obama's petulance, sneering, and screaming.  I find him absolutely disgusting.

And his facial expressions and that pointing finger!  Sheesh.

To say, "Obama isn't acting Presidential," doesn't begin to insult him enough.  He is exhibiting demagoguery in the extreme.  Indeed, he is a textbook case of demagoguery. 

As I have previously opined, I think that some of Obama's attitude and behaviors can be attributed to substance abuse.  I can't prove that allegation, but all my intuition tells me that such is the case.  

How I'd love to see Barack Hussein Obama take a piss test with no advance notice!

Dick Morris, of whom I am not particularly enamored, summed it up this way:


I'm not big on predicting election outcomes. But I'll do so.

I predict a Romney-Ryan landslide. I hope that my prediction isn't wishful thinking.

Some reading from the UK's Mail Online: "Barack Obama, the 2008 'hopemonger', has become the fearmonger-in-chief of the 2012 election campaign."  It's worth your time to read the Mail Online's October 25, 2012 article indicating that Obama really is America's Demagogue-in-Chief. Can today's American electorate recognize such tactics and repudiate them? We'll find out on November 6.

It's Collectivism

Obama is off his rocker, and that is the nicest thing I can say.

Obama's statement:

"If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

He's ratcheted up. Downright wild and screaming.
