Who does this administration think they are fooling? Duncan managed to enter the US with Ebola despite the fever checks...the (insert string of obscene profanity here)CDC gave the second Ebola nurse to travel WITH A FEVER! And yet, today's headlines read:

"Customs and health officials at airports in Chicago, Atlanta, the Washington suburbs and Newark, New Jersey, were scheduled to start taking the temperatures of passengers from the three hardest-hit West African countries Thursday. The screenings, using no-touch thermometers, started Saturday at New York's Kennedy International Airport."

HOW THE HELL IS THAT STEPPING UP?!

Then there is this little tidbit in the same article:

Quote: "Frontier has taken the aircraft out of service. The plane was flown Wednesday without passengers from Cleveland to Denver, where the airline said it will undergo a fourth cleaning, including replacement of seat covers, carpeting and air filters."

Yet this administration insists on allowing passengers from the Ebola hot zones of Western Africa - Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea to - 
not only board planes, 
but change planes during connections,
enter mass transit hubs,
and travel freely within unsuspecting populations regardless of whether they were directly exposed to Ebola, as was Duncan, or not.
If and when these modes of transportation carry an infected passenger, the new standard set by Frontier suggests removal of contaminated vehicle from fleet for complete refab at corp. own expense? How sustainable is that, and for how long?

In prepared statements released Wednesday night, Dr. Varga is prepared to say, “Unfortunately, in our initial treatment of Mr. Duncan, despite our best intentions and a highly skilled medical team, we made mistakes. We did not correctly diagnose his symptoms as those of Ebola. We are deeply sorry. 
Also, in our effort to communicate to the public quickly and transparently, we inadvertently provided some information that was inaccurate and had to be corrected. No doubt that was unsettling to a community that was already concerned and confused, and we have learned from that experience as well.”

Vinson's stepfather, whose name was not released, self-quarantined himself after Vinson tested positive for the Ebola virus Tuesday.[snip]Vinson, 29, flew to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on Oct. 10 and flew home to Dallas on Oct. 13, the day before she was diagnosed. Williams said she spent three days at the home in Tallmadge.
Begs the question: where did she stay the rest of the time?

New Jersey Customs Agent: We're Not Prepared for Ebola


A federal customs official at New Jersey's Newark International Airport says that they are not trained or equipped to face passengers who might be infected with Ebola.

President Barack Obama finally announced that five of the nations largest international airports will begin Ebola screenings in an effort to identify possible Ebola carriers and prevent an outbreak here at home.

Federal officials plan to implement the new screening regime at New York's Kennedy International, Washington D.C.'s Dulles, Chicago's O'Hare, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, and Newark's Liberty International.

But a new report by a Customs agent at Newark's Liberty Airport says they are not ready at all if Ebola happens to show up in New Jersey.

"They are assuring the public everything is being done, but it is not," the agent told New York's NBC 4.

CDC: 150 People Enter U.S. Per Day from Ebola-Stricken Countries--or 4,500 Per Month
(CNSNews.com) - Both Homeland Security Secretary Secretary Jeh Johnson and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden said on Wednesday that 150 people a day arrive in the United States from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea, the three West African countries that have been hit by the Ebola virus.

"When somebody travels from one of those three West African countries, even through a transit point (in Europe), we know where they're coming from. So we're able to track this. And we know that on average it's about 150 passengers a day," Johnson told CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

Ebola victim’s remains to be cremated, sick deputy awaits test results

The remains of Thomas Eric Duncan, the man who died from Ebola Wednesday morning in Dallas, have been sent for cremation.

Duncan died at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital after ten days of treatment in isolation.

State health officials said his body was transported away from the hospital, but didn't give specifics about where it was taken.

The Centers for Disease Control recommended the body be wrapped in a triple layer of plastic and leak-proof bags. Those bags were to be sprayed with disinfectant.

Duncan's ashes will reportedly be returned to his family.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A U.S. Coast Guard sector says it will contact ships that have recently been to Ebola-affected countries to ask whether passengers have symptoms of the virus before they are allowed into port.

The sector, which includes parts of New York and Connecticut, issued to the maritime community in Long Island Sound on Monday a bulletin that describes protocols being put into place due to the Ebola outbreak.

Canadian Ebola vaccine license holder moving ahead with safety trials

TORONTO - With talk turning to the idea that Ebola vaccines and drugs may be needed to quell the West African outbreak, the tiny U.S. company that holds the licence for a Canadian-made vaccine says it is working as fast as it can to get that option tested and ready for use.

NewLink Genetics says at least five clinical trials involving the vaccine, known as VSV-EBOV, will soon be under way in the United States, Germany, Switzerland and in an unnamed African country which is not battling Ebola. As well, the Canadian government has said it wants to conduct a trial in this country.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — Spanish health officials say they are investigating whether a nursing assistant infected with Ebola got the disease after she touched her face with protective gloves after leaving the quarantine room where an Ebola victim was being treated.

Dr. German Ramirez says nursing assistant Teresa Romero says she remembers she once touched her face with the gloves.

Health officials have said Romero twice entered the room of Spanish missionary Manuel Garcia Viejo, who died of Ebola on Sept. 25 in Madrid. She went in once to change his diaper and also entered after he died to retrieve unspecified items.

Ramirez said Wednesday that Romero believes she touched her face with the glove after her first entry into the priest's room.

Third Health Worker Hospitalized Over Ebola in Spain 


A spokesman for Spain's regional health department said the hospital worker, whose name wasn't disclosed, had a slight fever, one possible early symptom of Ebola. The aide was part of the medical team that treated Manuel García Viejo, a 69-year-old Spanish missionary who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone and was evacuated to Madrid. He died in late September

Flight attendants call for tougher Ebola screens at airports

The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) says new, stronger measures must be implemented in Ebola virus hotspots to keep anyone with likely symptoms grounded. 

The union representing nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 19 airlines believes airlines and health officials are relying too heavily on voluntary questionnaires. 

AFA says in a news release that options are limited once someone infected with the Ebola virus is on a plane - flight crews don't have the medical training or personal protective equipment required for handling an Ebola patient.

USAToday: Sierra Leone: Strike leaves Ebola dead in streets

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation reported Wednesday that bodies of Ebola victims have been left in the country's streets because of a strike by burial teams, who complain they have not been paid.

Health Ministry spokesman Sidie Yahya Tunis said the situation is "very embarrassing," insisting money was available to pay the teams. He promised to provide more information later Wednesday.

Two Dallas ISD custodial supervisors said they were placed on administrative leave Monday because it took too long to clean five schools affected by the city’s Ebola case and because they supplied hazmat suits to the custodians who cleaned the schools.

The two supervisors -- Marion Castro and Jose Guererro -- said they couldn’t complete the cleanup in one day because the district didn’t provide help to work through the night.

We've all read the alarm about the initial attempts to have Mr. Duncan's ebola laced vomit power-washed off the property by a typical custodian sans protective gear in Dallas.

Consider all those dead bodies, at the peak of infection when the greatest amount of live ebola virus is present, remain in the streets of Sierra Leone. Compound that with the rainy season. Albeit, the end of the rainy season but consider it has had an impact as reported here:

The rainy season in West Africa generally falls from the end of April - July on the coastal areas with a second shorter rainy season in September/October.
Closer to the coast it is always a little more humid even in the dry months, but there are less mosquitoes around and unpaved roads are passable.

In Spain, they just ordered the euthansia of an Ebola-infected nurse's pet dog ...due to potential exposure to Ebola.
Imagine these dead festering bodies in Sierra Leone in the open, and the natural animals, insects, vermin which can carry/consume the virus spilling into puddles, onto vegetation,etc.

GOVERNOR: 5 students at 4 different schools exposed to U.S. Ebola patient
Five students at four different schools have been in contact with the Ebola patient, Dallas Superintendent Mike Miles said. None of the students has shown any symptoms.

Ebola patient's leaving Liberia was 'unpardonable,' its President says
Duncan's family said he hadn't mentioned any exposure to Ebola in Liberia.
His girlfriend says he told her he hadn't been in contact with anyone with Ebola. Wilfred Smallwood, Duncan's half-brother, said Thursday that he doesn't believe Duncan knew he had Ebola when he left Liberia for the United States. But he said it isn't out of the ordinary to come to the assistance of suffering people.

Louise Troh is the family member whose 13 year old son (Duncan's nephew) as well as two 20 year old nephews of Louise (according to Anderson Cooper)remain confined to that contaminated domicile.

Witnesses say Duncan had been helping Ebola patients in Liberia. Liberian community leader Tugbeh Chieh Tugbeh said Duncan was caring for an Ebola-infected patient at a residence in Paynesville City, just outside Monrovia.
Family members suggest this was Duncan's first trip to the US while a neighbor of the mother of his son, Louise, stated that he met Duncan on at least three separate visits over the last decade.

The last CNN link in the above comment suggests the timeline of Duncan's infection is off, given he was witnessed helping Ebola patient(s). (note: multiple pts) He left his job after an accident knowing he acquired a travel visa to the US. Having walked off the job, did he have saved funds to pay for such travel? Other sources stated a UPS affiliate purchased his ticket. Did he assist someone or someone's family member who is tied to UPS? Is that why/how his ticket was purcha$ed?

Earlier NYT reported he assisted a 7 mos. pregnant 19 year old who died hours later. All of the five individuals, except the cab driver involved in the transport of that pregnant victim either have ebola or died. Duncan assisted this girl 4 days prior to travel initiating on Sept. 19. How many other ebola victims was he exposed to prior the 15th? Did he choose to become a mercenary aid to fund his trip to the US?
About the family confusion. Louise Troh the mother of a 13 year old son residing with her, assumed to be Duncan's son. 
Dallas ISD superintendent Mike Miles also revealed that five
children from four of the district’s campuses were possibly exposed to the virus
Two of the five schools identified by Miles –

Tasby Middle and Lowe Elementary – share a campus.

Miles identified the schools as:

What school did those twenty year olds go to? How many schools did the thirteen year old attend?
