I think this is what they call the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the volcanoes are spewing

First of all, you gotta read the whole thing to understand that after 300+ years, the Europeans STILL have no idea what we are doing over here, and why we are doing it, and why we got HERE, instead of being there.

It seems incredible, but as the Democrats gather in Denver to anoint Barack Obama, America could be on course to re-elect a Republican as their President. Not just any Republican either, but a belligerent 71-year-old who can't remember how many houses he owns, would happily nuke Iran and whose answer to global warming is to drill for oil in environmentally sensitive areas off the coast of America which don't even have much oil. But according to the polls, John McCain is drawing level with Barack Obama, and even pulling ahead.

Really, America is a strange, strange country. After a disastrous and illegal war, in which 4000 American soldiers have died, in the middle of an economic crisis largely caused by the investment houses that finance the Republican party, you would have thought it almost inconceivable that the Republicans could be re-elected. Could any political brand be more toxic? Has any party in history deserved to be thrown out at an election more than the Republicans in 2008?

It is amazing that the abandonment of facts can represent 'news'. This is dialectic necessarily being true at its zenith.

whose answer to global warming is to drill for oil
would happily nuke Iran
economic crisis largely caused by the investment
houses that finance the Republican party

After a disastrous and illegal war
It is easier to argue on arab forums than with this kind of brainless spew.
Perhaps Mr McWhirter would do well to consider our answer is to ensure our own economic security, because unlike them we ACT, and so as part of an answer which does not even CONSIDER WARMING, since we CANNOT AFFORD TO today, this day, at this late hour, we will drill when and where required, as part of something far larger. If he can find a party responsible for this, he far better than any American. They are both clearly at fault. And equally so, until now. When the Atlantic is lapping at the base of Edinburgh's castle, let me know, will you?
Perhaps Mr McWhirter would do well to consider our answer is that removing the genocidal publicly stated ability to carry out the desire of every leader of Iran (without using our nukes) since 1979 is slightly better than a regional nuclear war. A war their current leader has said will bring on a messiah, and cure the world.
Perhaps Mr McWhirter would do well to consider our answer is that what PROOF does he offer that Countrywide Mortgage, for instance, or Fannie Mae, or Freddy Mac finances republican endeavors any more than democratic ones, or AT ALL?
Perhaps Mr McWhirter would do well to consider our answer is that not only is Iraq NOT a disaster, and that democracy of a kind MIGHT prevent the worsening of this war of civilizations, but might point to its end. Would that be worth the American deaths in 2 hours at a place near Sharpsburg, MD in Sept 1862?
Perhaps Mr McWhirter would do well to consider our answer is that a UN beset by racism, greed, corruption, and utter ineffectiveness is not exactly the arbiter of what can or should be legal, just or moral and that it's actions have settled neither the Arab Israeli dispute, the Korean dispute, the Lebanon dispute, and totally failed at enforcing the many agreements made and broken by Saddam Hussein, including settling the war with Kuwait.

So read it all, and read the comments and despair that Europe, the site of the greed, corruption, racism and xenophobia that drove our ancestors to this land, just has no clue. Not about us, or about the objective reality that this world is.

And by the way Ian. Butt out.

And for you Europeans who cringe at Mr. Mcwhirter's prejudice against the American people, and blatant dialectic enforcement of distortion and outright untruth, and of the wild stupidity of the comments, COME ON OVER.

You are welcome. We need you, and vice versa.
