Russia Plays With Fire

Russia has decided to show us who's in control by juggling fireballs.

As I predicted yesterday, they are continuing to talk about pulling out of Georgia, but instead, just digging themselves into the trenches even deeper.

Even metaphorical trench warfare is not a good idea in the nuclear age.

Condoleeza Rice signed a new missile shield deal with Poland today, ensuring that countries like Iran or, say, Russia can not attack Poland with ballistic missiles, nuclear or otherwise.

And, Russia's response?

They announce "the U.S. missile shield plans are clearly aimed at weakening Russia.
The U.S. says the missile defense system is aimed at protecting the U.S. and Europe from future attacks from states like Iran.

Russia says its response to the further development of a U.S. missile shield in Poland will go beyond diplomacy.
