Infidel Babe Of The Week - Lauryn Hill

Now the Joy of my world is in Zion.

Lauryn Hill is one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she has one of the most soulful voices ever to have graced the tracks of a pop song.

Read the lyrics along with the song. All I can say is, "Beautiful."

Thanks, Lauryn.

Unsure of what the balance held
I touched my belly overwhelmed
By what I had been chosen to perform
But then an angel came one day
Told me to kneel down and pray
For unto me a man child would be born
Woe this crazy circumstance
I knew his life deserved a chance
But everybody told me to be smart
Look at your career they said,
"Lauryn, baby use your head"
But instead I chose to use my heart

Now the joy of my world is in Zion
Now the joy of my world is in Zion

How beautiful if nothing more
Than to wait at Zion's door
I've never been in love like this before
Now let me pray to keep you from
The perils that will surely come
See life for you my prince has just begun
And I thank you for choosing me
To come through unto life to be
A beautiful reflection of his grace
For I know that a gift so great
Is only one God could create
And I'm reminded every time I see your face

That the joy of my world is in Zion
Now the joy of my world is in Zion
Now the joy of my world is in Zion
Now the joy of my world is in Zion

Marching, marching, marching to Zion
Marching, marching
Marching, marching, marching to Zion
Beautiful, beautiful Zion

Ahhh...beautiful, she needs to come back around, we haven't heard much from her in the UK for a while. Has she been up to much lately?

Wasn't she in one of Whoopi Goldberg's Sister Act movies?

Her son is indeed named Zion.

Pastorius said...

Yes, indeed.

You ought to hear my daughter's name.

Pastorius,

Not only does the song make it sound like she supports zionism, but she's a women and she shows her face. You know what the Islamic nut will do to her if they ever get the chance.

I believe she was raised in the Church singing gospel music. I don't know that much about her, but I remember reading something like that.

Yep, she's from a Haitian American background, the reference to Zion is about her son but the name Zion is a reference to the special relationship between Rastafarianism and Judaism. In the Carib we have strong cultural icons in the 'conquering lion of Judah' etc, we consider the process of trans Atlantic slavery to be in a sense fulfilling prophecy that makes, Carib people one of the lost tribes of Israel, also the experience of slavery and deliverance chimes very much with the experience of the Israelites. There are constant references in Rastafarianism to common beliefs in Judaism. I don't think that she is a Zionist, however. Although Ms Hill def deserves the title of Infidel babe of the week because she is so, so far from a submissive, subjugated woman and is infact a beautiful Haitian American queen.....who also makes excellent and spiritual music ....by the way....!

Oh Ps Auntie is married to cop ...Lol...!

....;)...!

Well, I guess if your aunt is married to a cop, that ain't gonna work out for me.

;)

Anyway, I remember some controversy that indicated that the Fugees are a bit on the black nationalist side, so I never really thought she was a Zionist in the pro-Israel sense.

I still like the message of her song. And, of course, she is one beautiful Infidel.

It would be very rare that we would find an Infidel Babe with whom we would agree on every issue. Hell, we don't agree with each other here half the time.

....and yet rather than go about beheading each other we can disagree and yet remain friends over a pint or 6 at the end of the day....Now thats what I call a civilization worth fighting for!

Oogling babes. Now, that's what I call civilization.
