In the last 30 yrs an Egyptian educated Mullah has Islamized and dragged the country backwards with Saudi petrodollars and money from the European tourist.
But the word is getting out and we must hope and persevere to change things
this is a very biased stance. im maldivian and i know the government dont even respect islam. what they do have no relation with the religion. the dictator has been doing everything to be in power..he even criticize islam openly. while he say no other than islam can be in maldives, he also discourage women from wearing the scarf, and he dont even allow freedome of talk or anything for that matter. i as a muslim call him munaafiq, meaning hypocrite.
