Two things about the video:

1. It's atrocious.
2. How is she not dead!

Muslim Vs. Hindu Honor Killings

Although the overwhelming majority of honor killings worldwide occur within Muslim communities, one would not know this by reading the mainstream media. Fearful of being labeled "Islamophobic," the American press has given only glancing attention to the widespread, honor-related ritual murder of Muslim women in the Middle East and South Asia while treating periodic honor killings among Muslim immigrants in the West as ordinary domestic abuse cases.

Over the last few years, however, the media has published a flurry of articles about Hindu honor killings in India, the only non-Muslim-majority country where these murders are still rampant.  Apologists for Muslim culture and civilization rushed to herald the upsurge in Hindu (and Sikh) honor killings as evidence that the practice is "a universal problem, not an Islamic issue."

While India is indeed a striking exception to Islam's near monopoly on contemporary honor killings, the following preliminary statistical survey shows Hindu honor killings in India to be different in form and commission from those of Muslims in neighboring Pakistan. Though no less gruesome, the Hindu honor killings seem largely confined to the north of India and are perpetuated by sociocultural factors largely specific to India. The millions of Indian Hindus who have immigrated to the West do not bring the practice along with them.

The recent spike of honor killings in India is likely the product of a clash between traditional and modern values, intensified by high economic growth and increasing social mobility. The spike may also reflect growing media coverage of this crime. The democratically elected government of India has taken important, if long overdue, steps to combat the practice of honor killing, and some progress has been made.

Not so in Pakistan where officials at all levels of government are either unable or unwilling to cope with honor killings. For Pakistan and many other Muslim countries, which have yet to experience the social stresses of rapid modernization or build the kind of political institutions that can eradicate a practice so deeply rooted in traditional beliefs—especially as Islamists now dominate—the worst may be yet to come....

CNN is apparently willing to include the words “honor killing” and “conservative Afghan” in its news reports but is unwilling to say that the honor killing was mandated by Islamic teachings or even mention that the murderers were Muslims. Instead, the word “conservative” has the effect of comparing such nasty people with the Christian right in America.

The most tragically ironic aspect of this story is that the man who murdered his daughters and tried to cover it up, said that he killed them because they “betrayed kindness.”

This CNN news report is a must-see for the network’s bias. It fits right in line with the network’s history of running interference for Islamists.

Muslim convert wife and children 'killed by abusive monster’

The bodies of Joy Small, 24, and the children were found in their flat the day after Aram Aziz, 32, was found dead at a beauty spot.

Friends of Miss Small yesterday described Mr Aziz as an “abusive monster” who had threatened to kill her previously and had once even poured petrol over her.

Police said the family were known to them and it is understood Miss Small, who had converted to Islam and was an active internet campaigner on the rights of Muslims, had installed a panic button at her flat.

Friends said the couple had split up last year, but had got back together again despite a history of violence by Mr Aziz.

Jennie Bland, 27, a close friend, said: “She was a good person, and a fantastic mum. Her husband was extremely possessive. He would beat her all the time, and tried to stop her seeing her friends. He’d poured petrol over her, tried to set her alight, and thrown a mirror at their son. He was an abusive monster.

“He didn’t like me because I knew what he was like. She could be herself around me. I met her in May 2008, when they’d already been together for a few years.

“But she eventually found the strength to finish with him last summer. She was doing really well, with the support of her friends.

"But she’d had to have a panic button installed in her flat. I stayed over one night and Joy had a hammer under her pillow; she was that scared of him...."

Of course, such stories are becoming all too frequent in the West.

And still we have leaders telling the West to respect Islam?

Buffalo beheader is guilty of 2nd degree murder

Muzzammil Hassan, the so-called bridge builder who murdered his wife Aasiya, has been convicted of 2nd degree murder (Hat tip: Jihad Watch, who's got a court video, and Weasel Zippers):

BUFFALO, NY - The jury in the Muzzammil Hassan trial has reached a verdict. Muzzammil Hassan is guilty of 2nd degree murder in the death of his wife, Aasiya Hassan.

The jury deliberated for a little over an hour before reaching their verdict.

The judge has scheduled Hassan's sentencing for March 9, 2011, where he faces a sentence of up to 25-years-to life behind bars. [...]

Jurors were told that Aasiya Hassan may have been conscious when the defendant started to behead her on February 12, 2009.

Curtin Gable started off strong telling the jury that Hassan wants them to believe that what he did was in self defense, "not a chance, not even close."

"There is absolutely no doubt that the defendant killed his wife intentionally," said the prosecutor. "He was carefully and deliberately planning to kill her."

The prosecutor told jurors Hassan was efficient and deliberate in killing his wife in just "thirty-seven seconds." While describing the murder, Curtin Gable described how Aasiya was stabbed in the head and from the mouth to her ear. "How is that self defense, stabbing an unarmed woman from behind," she asked jurors.

"He was in control," she told jurors. "Cool, calm, collected and calculating every step of the way."[...]

Hassan admitted to the courtroom that he did, in fact, have physical altercations with his wife, but that he never beat or abused her. "Men are never put in the victim's box," he said.

The abuser, says Hassan, often comes across to the outside world as charming and friendly, but to the victim it is a very different story. "A victim often feels like a hostage to a terrorist, a slave to an overbearing master."

On multiple occasions, Hassan claims he attempted to move out, but that false promises by his wife brought him back home. He wonders why Aasiya would continuously beg him to return "if I was such a horrible wife beater."

"Think of a dog with an invisible fence," Hassan tells the jury. "He tries to escape, he gets a shock, he keeps getting shocked and eventually stops trying." Hassan likens himself to the dog, saying he received so many shocks through abuse and threats that he simply stopped trying to escape.

He goes on to identify flaws in "the system," attempting to indict it by saying that his enemy is false beliefs in religion. He compares this with the experiences of Nelson Mandela and Gandhi.

"My enemy are not these people, it is in the false belief in the religion of patriarchy that has unleashed a blood bath on American women."

Some points here: Mandela and Ghandi were both false "saviors" considering that the former adhered to communism and the latter was a defeatist.

It's weird that a man with such vehement belief in Islamofascism could try to use "false beliefs" as a defense.

And I hope he gets the death sentence, the only truly good sentence in horror cases like this. Send him to the chair.

Another Win for Rifqa!

Rifqa Bary moved another step closer to freedom yesterday. FOX has the good news here. The parents' attorney claims they are concerned for her health. These are the same parents who would likely have a headsman there to greet her if she were sent back to Sri Lanka.

Judge: Runaway Christian Girl Not Required to Reunite With Muslim Parents

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A juvenile court judge in Columbus, Ohio, has granted a runaway Christian convert's request to declare reunion with her Muslim parents impossible, paving the way for the girl to fight deportation.

Magistrate Mary Goodrich said Thursday that reconciliation between Rifqa Bary and her parents isn't possible before she turns 18 on Tuesday. Goodrich also said it's not in the girl's best interest to return her to her native Sri Lanka.

Bary is an illegal immigrant. The ruling allows her attorneys to file for a special immigration status to allow her to stay in the U.S. while she continues medical treatment following recent surgery for uterine cancer.

Bary fled to Florida last year saying she feared harm for her conversion. Her parents deny she would have been harmed.The immigration status of the parents, who live in the Columbus area, is unclear.

Bary underwent successful cancer surgery in May and then was scheduled for 45 weeks of chemotherapy , which would give her an "80 to 90 percent chance" she'd be fine, Omar Tarazi, an attorney for Bary's parents, told the judge.

Instead, Bary stopped the chemotherapy after two or three rounds, deciding she'd been healed, Tarazi said. In a court filing last week, the girl's parents claimed she stopped after visiting a faith healer.

"The parents are feeling helpless," Tarazi said. "They feel like this is such a critical issue that it be in writing."

Goodrich said she understood why Bary's parents, Mohamed and Aysha Bary of suburban Columbus, filed the request. "I've never gotten the impression they didn't care very much for their daughter," she said.

A letter from Bary's doctor recommending the 45 weeks of chemotherapy indicates she is cancer free for now according to available imaging technology, Bary's attorney, Kort Gatterdam, told the judge.

The letter also says she suffers from a rare form of cancer for which there is no standard treatment.

Rifqa Bary stopped the treatment after becoming sick and in consultation with her doctor, Gatterdam said. He disputed the faith healer allegation, saying Bary had attended a prayer conference after which she continued with surgeries and other treatment.

"Rifqa's not saying she'll never do the treatment again, that she'll never do chemo," Gatterdam said. "She'll continue working with her doctor."

Harry Potter Fans Irate at "Honor Killing" Threat to Actress

Dawn breaks over the Leaky Cauldron -- the premiere Harry Potter fan site has posted the
news that the father and brother of HP movie actress Afshan Azad have been charged with threatening her life. Her brother has been charged with actually assaulting the 22-year-old actress, who plays Padma Patil in the films.

Go to the link and check out the Comments section. After a slow start the discussion has begun to pick up steam, focus, and direction. One fan reports that Afshan's strict Muslim family discovered that she has a Hindu boyfriend. Others have referred to the "honor" killings of Aqsa Parvez in Canada and Noor Almaleki in Arizona. The latest to comment has delivered the first direct boot to the head of Islam:

Will Harry Potter fans begin to recognize in radical Islam the face of Voldemort and the Death Eaters? Or will the PC/MC indoctrination they have received all their lives corral their natural, spontaneous outrage into the safe confines of "cultural relativism"? Meanwhile, wherever she is, Afshan Azad may not know it, but her very own "Dumbledore's Army" is forming on her behalf.

Egypt: Two brothers "honor killed" their sister

A young man in Egypt goes to a party seeking drugs and prostitutes, discovers his sister there. He later beats her to death with his younger brother, then stabs and burns her. The brothers were sentenced to a year in jail.

Alliance of Civilizations and gender equality, of course. Specially when the brothers have been sentenced to one year in jail. Just to have an idea of proportions: blogger Abdul Karim Soliman was sentenced to 4 years in prison because he allegedly insulted Islam and Mubarak.

Turkey: official figures on "honor killings"

A total of 43 women lost their lives (17 murdered and 26 committed suicide) in eastern and south-eastern Anatolia alone in the opening two months of this year. These figures appear in the pro-government newspaper, Sabah, which cites as its source Birgul Kitay, the head of the Ka-Mer (Women's Centre)Women's Association in Bingol, in this Kurdish majority eastern part of Turkey. The area rose to prominence in news reports a few days ago when a man, who had been given a three-month sentence for beating his wife, six-months into pregnancy with her fifth child, cut off his wifés nose and ears as a punishment for having reported him
