Why Blame The Messengers?

I have a theory as to why so many who should have better sense than to take the position they take are attacking Geller and Spencer for sponsoring the event in Garland, Texas.

That the two Garland jihadists don’t “fit the profile” makes these reality deniers uncomfortable — to the point that they are blaming the messengers (Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Bosch Fawstin, and any who support these messengers). To do otherwise would mean having take an honest and objective look at the teachings of the Quran and the Haditha.

The uncomfortable reality that Islamophiles struggle with: the Garland jihadists didn’t have long criminal histories, histories of mental illness, or histories of having grown up downtrodden in poverty.

So, what did set off the would-be mass murderers?

Islam, of course.

The Garland jihadists were serious about strict shari’a and desired to be enforcers thereof. That is the reality.

The values of shari’a and Western values are incompatible.  Islam is the problem!

How do we deal with having in our midst those whose desire of the heart is to enforce strict shari'a and those who support, financially and otherwise, those who wish to enforce shari'a?

What are these people smokin'?

How is this even possible to have happened?

White House mistakenly reveals CIA official's name

In an embarrassing flub, the Obama administration accidentally revealed the name of the CIA's top official in Afghanistan in an email to thousands of journalists during the president's surprise Memorial Day weekend trip to Bagram Air Field.

The officer's name - identified as "chief of station" in Kabul - was included by U.S. embassy staff on a list of 15 senior American officials who met with President Obama during the Saturday visit. The list was sent to a Washington Post reporter who was representing the news media, who then sent it out to the White House "press pool" list, which contains as many as 6,000 recipients.

The Associated Press is withholding the officer's name at the request of the Obama administration, who said its publication could put his life and those of his family members in danger. A Google search appears to reveal the name of the officer's wife and other personal details.

White House officials realized the error after the Post reporter notified them, and sent out a new list without the station chief's name. Other major news organizations, including the Post, also agreed not to publish the officer's name.

The reporter who distributes the pool report sends it to the White House to be checked for factual accuracy and then forwarded to the thousands of journalists on the email distribution list, so in this case the White House failed on at least two occasions to recognize that the CIA official's name was being revealed and circulated so broadly....

New Medicare Benefit?

Apparently, Medicare is now considering paying for sex-change operations:

For the first time since 1981, when it dubbed sex-change operations "experimental," Medicare has opened the door to covering transexual operations, adding to the growing list of operations that would be allowed under Obamacare.

Acting on a new request, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said it is starting a new analysis that could lift the spending ban for sex-change operations with a goal of making a decision two days after Christmas and on the eve of Obamacare kicking in Jan. 1.....

Buying a ski mask isn't illegal, but could restricting their sale help prevent crime?

The notion is stirring debate among some Northwest Washington residents after reports of robberies committed by men wearing ski masks. The frequency of the robberies also has caught attention of police, who say one neighborhood crew is frequently purchasing masks at a local sports store for the express purpose of committing robberies.

"They clearly are a problem. Otherwise, we wouldn't see it being mentioned in all the reports," said Faith Wheeler, an Advisory Neighborhood Commission member from the Takoma neighborhood in Northwest.

On a Metropolitan Police Department-run listserv, Ms. Wheeler was one of several people who broached the subject of trying to discourage the sale of ski masks in the neighborhood, or asked legislators whether there are other ways to ban their sale....

Kim Kardashian has apologized for her Tweet:

Clearly shaken by the hate messages, Kim then deleted both tweets and released a statement via her own website.

She wrote: “I want to own up to and explain that earlier today I sent out two tweets about saying prayers for the people in Palestine and Israel and after hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realised that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize.”

She added: “I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them.

“The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didn’t choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution.

“I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfires.”

So, the Islamic freaks win again.

You can't even send out an innocuous Tweet without Islamic freaks getting all riled up!

You had better believe it....Islamic freaks want to censor prayer, particularly any kind of public prayer that doesn't honor their filthy god.  

Islamic freaks have moved from condemning any perceived insult their filthy god to condemning anything and threatening everyone that doesn't honor their filthy god.

Creeping Nanny State

I'm on a great diet right now. Nearly 20 pounds down since May 5! Clothes that I thought I'd never wear again are too big.

At age 60!  Yeehaw!

Mr. AOW's A1c has dropped from 6.9 to 6.0 since he went partially onto this diet..

Anyway, this morning, this June 26, 2012 article caught my eye as my weight gain was primarily due to having to take Lyrica for an extended period of time:

While most of Washington is waiting around, nervously chewing on its fingernails in anticipation of the Supreme Court's Obamacare decision (may I have the envelope, please), there are some who are still in the fight. As Melissa Healy writes in the Los Angeles Times:

a federal health advisory panel on Monday recommended that all obese adults receive intensive counseling in an effort to rein in a growing health crisis in America.

Widespread adoption of [its] recommendation would increase ... spending, at least initially.

And much of the increase will be borne by the non-obese, since that's the way subsidies work. But if it slims the population down enough to cut back on the cardio-vascular afflictions, the diabetes, and the other ills associated with obesity, then maybe we should soldier up and go with more government, less personal responsibility, and a spike in the population of counselors instructing grown-ups on the importance of eating more leafy green vegetables.

Except that

The panel acknowledged that one problem with its recommendation was that no studies have shown such intensive programs provide long-term health benefits.

ObamaCare requires insurance companies to cover panel-recommended weight loss plans.

Now, I'm sticking to my diet like you wouldn't believe although I wasn't technicall overweight when I began this diet. Why?

1) My doctor had advised me to "lose a few pounds" so as to lower my triglycerides.

2) Friends of mine who had used the diet looked wonderful.

3) I'm a determined German.

4) The products are delicious and do not taste like diet food. And I can have steak and seafood on this diet.

5) The diet is expensive.

6) Most important, I CHOSE to use this diet.

7)  Results are amazing, and I feel better than I've felt in years.

Forcing people into any treatment program, whatever that program is, typically is not successful, particularly if the treatment program is free or nearly free for them.

ObamaCare, if upheld by the SCOTUS tomorrow, will be forcing people into all sorts of treatment programs AT YOUR EXPENSE TOO.   The greater good and all that.
