Tim Kaine's Comments About Islamic Treatment Of Women

Well, more specifically, about women in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Rwanda as compared to women in the United States:
Vice presidential candidate Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said Tuesday [August 17, 2016] that the United States has made it difficult for women to be elected to higher office, and argued that America ranks behind Iraq, Afghanistan and Rwanda in this area.

"It took 144 years before women even got the right to vote in this country," Kaine said at a campaign rally in Fayetteville, N.C. "What were we thinking when we said equality mattered, but no. One hundred and forty four years. It took us that long to say in 1920, to say women get a right to vote. And now we're 96 years later and we have just nominated a woman. We know we haven't had a woman president....

Islam: The Left's Double Standard

With a hat tip to GeeeZ:

Now for a little personal anecdote...

A few years ago, at the swimming pool, I said to another lounge lizard, a retired public school teacher: "Wearing a hijab is like wearing a swastika."

Other lounge lizard (horrified): "Oh, don't say that! It's so hateful!"

AOW (suppressing a smile): "I'm not the one who said that. A Muslim said that."

Other lounge lizard (relieved): "Oh, well. That's different."

John Kasich's "Culinary Controversy"

This is news? And in the political section, too.

Are you kidding me?

From ABC News (dated March 30, 2016):
Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich bit into culinary controversy this week when he turned down a Wisconsin dessert and used a fork to eat pizza in New York.
The 24/7 news cycle will be the death of us all.

What are these people smokin'?

Day After Pilot’s Murder Video, Jordan Criticized for Executing Convicted Terrorists:
The White House and the State Department both dodged questions today about whether the U.S. government agrees with Jordan’s decision to hang two terrorists this morning.

Both had already gone through the judicial process and were waiting on death row....

[...]

“While all efforts must be made to counter terrorism and hold the perpetrators accountable, our reaction to the threat posed by (Islamic State) needs to be consistent with our common values on justice and the rights of prisoners,” European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in a statement today. “Our action has to be guided by the respect of international human rights law and humanitarian law. The European position against death penalty remains unchanged and we believe capital punishment does not serve any deterrent purpose.”

“The Jordanian authorities are rightly horrified by this utterly reprehensible killing but the response should never be to resort to the death penalty, which itself is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment,” said Philip Luther, Director of Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa Program. “The death penalty should also not be used as a tool for revenge. The IS’s gruesome tactics must not be allowed to fuel a bloody cycle of reprisal executions.”...

Done.

How To Lose A War

Or should I say "non-war"?

Anyway, take note of this October 19, 2014 article in The Daily Beast:
U.S. Humanitarian Aid Going to ISIS: Not only are foodstuffs, medical supplies—even clinics—going to ISIS, the distribution networks are paying ISIS ‘taxes’ and putting ISIS people on their payrolls

GAZIANTEP, Turkey — While U.S. warplanes strike at the militants of the so-called Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, truckloads of U.S. and Western aid has been flowing into territory controlled by the jihadists, assisting them to build their terror-inspiring “Caliphate.”

The aid—mainly food and medical equipment—is meant for Syrians displaced from their hometowns, and for hungry civilians. It is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, European donors, and the United Nations. Whether it continues is now the subject of anguished debate among officials in Washington and European. The fear is that stopping aid would hurt innocent civilians and would be used for propaganda purposes by the militants, who would likely blame the West for added hardship.

The Bible says if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him something to drink—doing so will “heap burning coals” of shame on his head. But there is no evidence that the militants of the Islamic State, widely known as ISIS or ISIL, feel any sense of disgrace or indignity (and certainly not gratitude) receiving charity from their foes....

More Insanity

A follow up to something that Epa posted about not long ago:
Metro rips out Phantom Planter’s flowers at Dupont Circle station

It turns out I underestimated Metro bureaucrats’ capacity for folly.

Two weeks ago, I wrote that the transit system would look silly if it let perish 1,000 flowers planted secretly at the Dupont Circle station by local garden artist Henry Docter, the self-described Phantom Planter.

I feared that Metro would merely neglect the flowers. Instead, last Sunday, it sent workmen to yank them out.

The transit system regularly pleads poverty, yet employees devoted supposedly valuable time to remove more than 1,000 morning glories, cardinal flowers and cypress vines that Docter donated to the city — albeit without permission. The plants would have bloomed from August to October in a patriotic display of red, white and blue.

Instead of greenery today and colors to come, the 176 flower boxes along the top stretch of the escalators at the station’s north entrance now feature dirt, a few straggling stems and the occasional discarded soda can.

“It never occurred to me that Metro would think it was more efficient to rip out the plants than to let someone water them,” Docter said.

Metro tore out the foliage without waiting to solicit the neighborhood’s opinion, as it said it had planned to do....

[...]

Docter, 52, has engaged in stealth gardening in public places for more than three decades. He describes his work as performance art.

Anger Management Courses For Ammo Buyers?

Florida (hat tip to Bloviating Zeppelin):
A Florida legislator wants anyone trying to buy ammunition to complete an anger management program first, in what critics say is the latest example of local lawmakers reaching for constitutionally-dubious solutions to the problem of gun violence.

The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, would require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10 years....
Bloviating Zeppelin opines:
...As I’ve said many times, you simply cannot make crap like this up. Just when you think you’ve seen or heard the sickest of ideas from the Left, they manage to outdo themselves. It’s as though they not only possess what I call Historical Alzheimers — I’d submit purposely so — but they go out of their way to top each other, weekly, in terms of the most daft, inane, brain-dead, illogical, illegal and outright stupid ideas to craft into some form of law whose sole purpose is to remove more of your freedoms.

I’m guessing that Senator Gibson isn’t a “bad person” per se; she likely doesn’t set stray kittens on fire. But the Demorat culture and Leftism has clearly lobotomized her to the point where she cannot even recognize the documents that created this country....
I'm willing to be that the feds would love for all of us here at IBA to complete anger management courses. Pfffft.

Desperation

Or is it idiocy?
Obama Campaign Selling Dog Leashes That Say 'Barack's Best Friend'

That's right people, for the small price of only fifteen dollars you can now purchase a dog leash that says, "2012 Barack's Best Friend."

Not a dog person? Not to worry. The Obama 2012 campaign is also selling cat collars that say, "Cats for Obama."
Proof of the idiocy and desperation can be found HERE.

"Tweet a tax code"

So says the White House as reported by the evening news.

Mr. AOW, lying in his hospital bed here in the living room and watching the news, said just after the story on the screen was finished: "Tweet a tax code? WTF? Are you kidding me?"

The really sad and horrible thing is that such is the idea that the Obama administration has of governance. Sheesh.

Idiotic Euphemisms

Hat tip to Conservative Perspective:

"Spring spheres"? How ludicrous!

That idiotic terminology "spring spheres" is along the same lines as "winter trees" (instead of Christmas trees). I actually know a school principal who insisted that the trees on the hall bulletin board during the month of December be called "winter trees."

The EPA Classifies Milk As Oil?

Absolute madness!

You can't make up such surreal and ludicrous bureaucratic policies.

From this essay by Thomas Sowell:
...We all understand why the EPA was given the power to issue regulations to guard against oil spills, such as that of the Exxon Valdez in Alaska or the more recent BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. But not everyone understands that any power given to any bureaucracy for any purpose can be stretched far beyond that purpose.

In a classic example of this process, the EPA has decided that, since milk contains oil, it has the authority to force farmers to comply with new regulations to file "emergency management" plans to show how they will cope with spilled milk, how farmers will train "first responders" and build "containment facilities" if there is a flood of spilled milk.

Proofread, Please!

As a teacher of composition, I am always urging my students to proofread their work.

The White House could learn a lesson in that regard (hat tip to Cube):

Big Journalism comments:
Considering this Administration strutted into the White House behaving as though they were the most competent team of Internet geeks who would use digital media and social networking like never before, a simple thing like this really calls into question the oversight and attention to detail one should expect from our first Internet-President.
I concur because I'm particularly unforgiving when it comes to proofing copy.

And don't even get me started on Obama's many lapses in enunciation when he delivers speeches! **sigh**

Revealing Capitalization

From this source quoting James J. Lee, who invaded the Discovery Channel's building today in Silver Spring Maryland, fired shots, and held hostages until the police shot him:
"Nothing is more important than saving ... the Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels. The humans? The planet does not need humans.”

Pelosi calls for investigation of WTC mosque opposition "YOUR ATTITUDE HAS BEEN NOTICED"

BUMPED TO THE TOP - SCROLL DOWN FOR NEWER POSTS
President Barack Obama shakes hands with Senat...

Pelosi calls for investigation of WTC mosque opposition

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco's KCBS radio:
attitude has been noticed.jpg
"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City."
Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million "Cordoba House" have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as "un-American."

Ms. Pelosi called the Ground Zero mosque an "urban development decision" for New Yorkers to work through. Her remarks happened on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, parting ways with President Barack Obama on the issue. Mr. Reid suggested the mosque should be built somewhere else.

Racetards. I friggin' hate racetards

What do you do? What DO you do, when things are now going your way, politically, culturally, ecomonically?
What DOES a civil rights cabal do when there's nothing on the horizon to bitch about? Well, if you are the racetards in the NAACP, you put your stupidity on television for everyone to see, and then you make the Big Guys bow down and acknowledge that your stupidity is really, really GENIUS! And then they appease the bullies  victims with lots of filthy lucre. And concessions. Of course. Wouldn't have it any other way.

These guys couldn't parody themselves any better than I could. Laugh at them. Just laugh at them.
What a bunch of losers.
So what IS the definition of racism these days?
