Dick Morris: Obama Announced the Removal Of US Missiles From Poland September 17th - Same Date Russia Invaded Poland In 1939

How Al Qaeda of him to send a message via historical dates.

Is Obama signaling to Russia, "Go ahead, she's yours for the raping? That's what it looks like.

Hey, none dare call it treason?

Dick Morris says that cancelling the missile shield on Sept 17 is sending a message to Russia that it's OK to invade Poland?!?!

Sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous. Poland and the Czech Republic are NATO members and have the same security guarantees as every other NATO member. Nobody will be invading them without having to face the wrath of all 28 member nations of NATO.

Canada has no missile shield. Is this somehow sending a signal to the Russians or Chinese that it's OK to invade Canada? In fact no nation has any kind of miisile shield. They must all be begging to be invaded! /

There's plenty of legitimate criticisms of Obama to be made, but that he's somehow inviting Russia to invade Poland isn't one of them.

Jeppo,
You said: Nobody will be invading them without having to face the wrath of all 28 member nations of NATO.

I say: You have got to be kidding, right?

I mean, seriously. You are kidding. If you are not, then I am going to demonstrate to you how preposterous your statement is.

Are you ready?

Pasto, this quote from the North Atlantic Treaty of 1949 is the fundamental raison d'etre of NATO:

"The Parties of NATO agreed that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all. Consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence will assist the Party or Parties being attacked, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area."

I don't know how much more clear they could have made their commitment to collective security. Do you have information suggesting otherwise?

Yes, simply the fact of the 1939 invasion itself.

Past that, forget it, you and I don't see the world in the same way.

I'll just shut up for now.

Look, the point I was trying to make is that Dick Morris is full of shit when he says that the cancellation of the missile shield is a green light for Russia to invade Poland.

Morris is a smart guy and I respect him but in this case he's just dead wrong. It doesn't help our cause when conservatives make ridiculous (and easily disprovable) accusations like this.

"Nobody will be invading them without having to face the wrath of all 28 member nations of NATO."

I don't see what your objection to this is, or what it has to do with 1939. It's simply a statement of fact.

I suppose that you could argue that NATO's collective security guarantees are simply a bluff, and the alliance would just stand by if Poland or any other member were attacked. Is that what you think?

None of the countries in Nato --except for the U.S. -- can stand up to a renewed Russian War machine if it decides to roll over Poland. And if it decides that it means it plans on going farther and Europe, one by one, will fall.

Obama does not have the backbone to stand up to Russian aggression. We saw that in his chickenshit response to the Georgia incursion last year. And so Europe would fall, because the European leaders would rather face life under the boot than total annihilation and will not fight without American Might behind them.

And if Obama does stand up, it will mean a nuclear exchange.

Jeppo, it was the significance of the date of O's announcement that confirms this was - in the very least - getting slapped with the ice cold reality of Obama's 'diplomacy'.

NATO expects the powerful superpower, the USA to back them under such a crisis. Witness his proclivity to voting present on every important issue. Just how long do you think it would take O to react with NATO? Take a look at Afghanistan and guess again.

Because I simply don't feel like fighting with Jeppo anymore, I'll just suggest that a map ought to be eloquent enough testimony to why Poland needs a missile shield:
