I guarantee that Obama's poll numbers are gonna take a nose-dive - and sooner than you think - and Lincoln knew why:
AND SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME,
BUT YOU CANNOT FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME."
Everyday, more and more people will see Obama for what truly he is.
He promised a tax-cut for 95% of Americans.
WHERE IS IT!?
He's promising a stimulus package - but the one winding its way through the Democrat Congress is mostly pork and mostly for 2010 and 2011, not NOW WHEN WE NEED IT!
He said he would bring a new "post-partisan" tone to DC, but them went after Rush.
He said he would have a squeaky clean White House, but then hired Rahm Emanuel, and tax-cheats Geithner and Daschle, (not to mention Richardson!), and signed a conflict of interest waiver for William Lynn at DoD.
He berates Wall Street for bonuses while Congress got a big raise and a huge spending allowance increase.
And so on.
He's breaking promise after promise and putting cronyism for the Chicago Machine and the SEIU and ACORN ahead of the national interest.
And people will see that.
Furthermore, if the economy improves this year - as it probably will - then he won't be able to take credit for it and will be stuck with HUMONGOUS spending increase and HUMONGOUS deficits.
People will be really pissed off about that!
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FROM A CEO:
"Americans know that our economic recovery will take years -- not months,"The CEO is Barack Obama, of course.
US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of domination" has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.
"This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed," Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
MORE ON OBAMA'S PESSIMISM AND NEGATIVITY HERE.
- Pathological attraction to dead bodies.
- Pathological fascination with death.
- One who is subject to necrophilia.
In some societies the practice was enacted owing to a belief that the soul of an unmarried woman would not find peace; among the Kachin of Myanmar, versions of a marriage ceremony were held to lay a dead virgin to rest, which would involve intercourse with the corpse. Similar practices obtained in some pre-modern Central European societies when a woman who was engaged to be married died before the wedding
Mohammed the prophet of the muslimsThis is from a book called "Kanz Al Umal" (The Treasure of the Workers), in the chapter of "The issues of women", authored by Ali Ibn Husam Aldin, commonly known as Al-Mutaki Al-Hindi. He based his book on the hadiths and sayings listed in "Al-Jami Al-Saghir," written by Jalal ul-Din Al-Suyuti.
Narrated by Ibn Abbas:
‘I (Muhammad) put on her my shirt that she may wear the clothes of heaven, and I SLEPT with her in her coffin (grave) that I may lessen the pressure of the grave. She was the best of Allah’s creatures to me after Abu Talib’… The prophet was referring to
Here is something to ponder
Here is something to ponder
It has been theorized that either of the following situation could be antecedents to necrophilia The necrophile develops poor self-esteem, perhaps due to he was very fearful of rejection by women/men and he desired a sexual partner who was incapable of rejecting him
68 percent of necrophiles motivated by a desire for an unresisting and unrejecting partner, and this could be very much the case, because, I doubt many of the women this bastard screwed had much choice. No women would enjoy being fucked by the man who had just murdered her husband, there is no way a 9 years old is going to enjoin a penis thrust into her. So it stands to reason the only willing sex partner he could find was his dead aunt, and I guess the reason we dont her much more about his buggery with the dead, is because the other muslims had more respect for their dead.
So nehm ich was noch übrig ist
die Nacht ist heiß und wir sind nackt
zum Fluch der Hahn den Morgen grüßt
ich hab den Kopf ihm abgehackt
People see him creeping around the church
he has been alone for a year
The sadness took away all his senses
he sleeps every night by her grave
There, by the bells sleeps a stone
and I alone can read it
and on the fence, the red rooster
who was your heart at that time
The fear skewered on this fence
I now go digging every night
to see what's left
of the face that smiled for me
There by the bells I spend the night
there between snails, a lonely animal
during the day I run after the night
you escape me for the second time
With my hands I dig deep
to find what I missed so much
and as the moon was in its most beautiful dress
I kissed your cold mouth
I take you tenderly by the arm
but your skin rips like paper
and parts are falling off of you
you escape me for the second time
So I take what's left
the night is hot and we are naked
cursedly the rooster greets the morning
I hacked off his head
"This stuff is in your own books!"
It's not enough that al-Qaeda has called Fr Zakaria Botros "one of the most wanted infidels in the world," issuing a 60 million dollar bounty on his head, or that popular Arabic magazines call him "Islam's public enemy #1"; now, as expected, CAIR is getting in on the action, calling for a "national alert" -- as in umma alert, eerily reminiscent of a fatwa -- against him.
Apparently his last few shows dealing with Muhammad's questionable sexual habits, including necrophilia -- which I translated here, here, and here -- are irking CAIR, specifically as his words are "embraced by a number of bloggers and Web sites that criticize Islam."
Why do radical Muslims, such as CAIR, hate -- and fear -- Zakaria Botros so? (I first described him and his ministry on NRO; be sure to click on links that go to important video clips of him, with English subtitles, where he makes several impressive demands of Islam). The problem Muslims have with Fr Botros is that they simply cannot refute him: everything he says -- no matter how scandalizing to Islam -- is always based on, often revered, Islamic sources. Moreover, Fr Botros rarely makes any claims about Islam: he only exposes; he only raises questions and then invites Islam's ulema to respond and "clarify" the matter. However, as this story indicates, their response is only to have him censored -- or, for the more radical, killed.
As he always says, however, "This stuff is in your own books! If you don't like it, go burn your books -- you know, the way Caliph Uthman burned all the other contending Korans [there were 7] when he prepared the authoritative version, the one you believe is based on a 'heavenly' Koran!"
"Broadcast angers Muslims," by Gregg Krupa for the Detroit News, January 30:Leaders want radio station to stop airing comments by priest they say defame Muhammad. If it wasn't, there would be no Zakaria Botros, as he would've been immediately discredited as a liar and forger. That he's famous, that people listen to him, and want to kill him, all evinces that what he says is, in fact, based on Islamic scriptures and thus not open to debate -- hence the appeal and conversions on the one hand, rabid anger and hate on the other.
SOUTHFIELD -- Muslims and interfaith leaders in Metro Detroit are asking a local radio station owner to discontinue broadcasts in which, they say, a Coptic priest has repeatedly defamed the Prophet Muhammad over the past year.
In an Arabic-language broadcast Wednesday on WNZK 680/690 AM, the Rev. Zakariah Boutros said the Muslim prophet Muhammad had engaged in necrophilia and gay sex, according to the Council on American Islamic Relations.
Boutros has previously come under fire from area Muslims, who say he disparages Islam. The controversial, American-based priest can be heard on purchased time slots on radio stations internationally. His words have stirred controversy in Egypt and Great Britain, and are embraced by a number of bloggers and Web sites that criticize Islam.
Amani Mostafa, who hosts the program "Questions About Faith" on which Boutros spoke Thursday, said Boutros was "reading from an Islamic text" when he said, over the air, that the Prophet Muhammad slept in the grave of a dead woman and allowed a man to kiss and caress his chest.
"I am a former Muslim," said Mostafa, who is now Christian. "I know exactly what I am talking about. These are the things we were taught as children. We are quoting the Quran and the Hadiths, and if the Muslims have a problem with that then they have a problem with their own book."
Hadiths are Muhammad's saying or writings, as reported by his followers.
Muslims say that no such wording appears in the Quran or the Hadiths.
"If that's their excuse, it's lame," said Dawud Walid, of CAIR, which distributed a "national alert" Thursday asking Muslims to contact the radio station to express concerns about the broadcast. CAIR also counseled Muslims to be "firm but polite. Hostile comments can and will be used to further defame Islam and Muslims."
Sima Birach, who owns the station, said he had received some complaints on Thursday, though he said he did not know how many.
In an interview with The Detroit News last summer Birach promised to end the broadcasts, upon the request of interfaith Muslim, Jewish and Christian groups in Metro Detroit.
Birach went so far as to put people associated with Boutros's broadcasts on conference calls with this reporter, while he berated them for allowing what some consider hate speech.
"It's not right," Birach said at the time. "It's not fair to use some fake or stupid books to accuse someone's religion. Do you hear me?" But on Thursday, Birach said he had since heard from "several prominent people in the community," that what Boutros stated in the broadcasts is true."Maybe we need to have more meetings," Birach said, referring to members of the Muslim and interfaith communities.
The problem with CAIR's Ummah Alert is not simply that it seems to be an overt attempt to thwart Free Speech through threat of physical intimidation, but that it is a kind of Fool's Errand for Muslims (but then, isn't all of Islam a fool's errand?).
You see, Father Zakaria Botros no longer looks like he does in these pictures. He has shaved his beard and put on a few years.
But, in an IBA exclusive report, I can tell you exactly what he looks like now, and where to find him. He now resides in the UK. And, here is a recent photograph:
THE convener of a conference on justice for Palestine, to be held at State Parliament tomorrow, has apologised for making anti-Jewish comments despite having earlier defended them as "private conversation".Maqsood Alshams, who formed a lobby group called the Asia Pacific Human Rights Institute, organised the conference with three universities to discuss the possibility of Israel being prosecuted by the International Court of Justice.
The Bangladesh-born asylum seeker, who was once nominated for the National Human Rights Award, wrote in private emails obtained by the Herald that Israel had overshadowed the Holocaust in its treatment of Palestine and that God hated Jews.
"The simple answer is that you the Jews are real motherf----- bastards," he wrote in an email to Richard Benkin, a human rights activist based in Chicago.
"You guys are simply assholes … Stop playing the bloody victim games."
In another email, to a Sydney management consultant, Anna Berger, Mr Maqsood said Israel's actions in Gaza were more serious than the Holocaust, comparing the conflict with Hitler's treatment of Jews.
Asked about the emails, Mr Maqsood initially defended his right to a private argument. "Is it anything wrong to have a private conversation? That is not my public view … I am not an anti-Semite at all. I have many Jewish friends."
But late yesterday Mr Maqsood apologised and withdrew the remarks. "I am ashamed to say they were made at a time when I was intoxicated and angry," he said. "Of course, there is no excuse for such remarks."
The universities participating in Mr Maqsood's conference have refused to withdraw support, despite calls from the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies.
"It now seems the conference will also serve an anti-Semitic agenda," the board's chief executive, Vic Alhadeff, said yesterday. "The participating organisations - wittingly or unwittingly - have allowed themselves to be used as part of that racist agenda."
US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of "domination" has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.
"This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed," Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
"Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change," he added.
After nearly three decades of severed ties, Obama said shortly after taking office this month that he is willing to extend a diplomatic hand to Tehran if the Islamic republic is ready to "unclench its fist".
In response, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched a fresh tirade against the United States, demanding an apology for its "crimes" against Iran and saying he expected "deep and fundamental" change from Obama.
Iranian politicians frequently refer to the US administration as the "global arrogance", "domineering power" and "Great Satan".
Tensions with the United States have soared over Iran's nuclear drive and Ahmadinejad's vitriolic verbal attacks against Washington's close regional ally Israel.

The Cypriot Navy has stopped an Iranian ship, believed to be carrying weapons for Hamas, on its way to Syria, Israeli security officials told The Jerusalem Post last Thursday night.
Admiral Chabanenko, a Russian anti-submarine destroyer photo Russian Navy
According to unofficial intelligence reports, the Iran Shahed set out from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas Dec. 29, the second day of the Gaza conflict, changing its identity several times until hoisting a Cypriot flag.
The vessel was stopped by the US Sixth Fleet in the Gulf of Aden on its way to Egypt, where it was believed to have planned to unload its cargo, which was then to be smuggled into the Gaza Strip.
The US Navy searched the ship prior to its entry into the Suez Canal, with permission of the captain but found only "small munitions," so the vessel was allowed to continue its voyage after the search, and was seemingly bound for Syria. The US said it lacked the authority to seize the cargo.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Israelis tried to seize the boat in the Red Sea (like they did in 2002 with the Karin A, a similar Iranian weapons ship then heading for Gaza). But the Americans decided not to give the Israeli Navy a chance to seize the vessel and tow it to Eilat for fear of a Tehran ultimatum to Jerusalem, followed by Iranian attacks on Israeli and US naval craft patrolling the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea. The ship had initially tried docking in Egypt but was denied access by the Egyptian Navy.
After the US Navy allowed it to continue its voyage through Suez, the Iranian vessel's captain called Tehran for instructions and was told to proceed to a Syrian port and there unload its arms consignment for Hamas, including a fresh supply of rockets.
But entering the Mediterranean on Jan. 26, the Iranian ship found three waiting armadas – Israeli missile boats, vessels of the US Sixth Fleet and the Chabanenko, a Russian anti-submarine destroyer, coming from Tartus Port in Syria. They all stayed close to the Iranian vessel – each with its own agenda: The Israeli missile boats blocked its access to the shores of Gaza, while the Russian destroyer kept watch for developments.
On Thursday afternoon, though, as the ship passed 100 km. off the coast of the Cyprus port of Limassol, it was stopped by the Cypriot Navy, which was legally allowed to intercept it since it was flying a Cypriot flag. Cyprus's decision to intercept the ship, officials said, was made after the United States and several European countries applied pressure on the government in Nicosia.
The officials said that the ship was believed to be carrying a number of shipping containers packed with weaponry.
"This is an example of how the sanctions on Iran are not effective," unidentified Israeli defense officials warned on Thursday. "Iran is making great efforts to get new weaponry to Hamas in Gaza."
"There are two main smuggling routes, some of the weaponry comes by ground from Somalia, Sudan and then into Egypt and through a tunnel into Gaza, while some comes by boat. The boats sometimes unload the shipments in the Sinai's El Arish port, where it is smuggled into Gaza by land. Other times, the shipments are dropped overboard in waterproof containers and are picked up by Gazan fishermen or divers.
'Have more babies and Muslims can take over the UK' hate fanatic says, as warning comes that 'next 9/11 will be in UK'
Muslim hate fanatics plan to take over Britain by having more babies and forcing a population explosion, it has been revealed.
The swollen Muslim population would be enough to conquer Britain from inside, they claim.
Fanatics told a meeting of young Muslims on the anniversary of the 9/11 atrocity, that it would then be easy to impose Sharia law on the population, the Sun newspaper reported.
Speaking at a meeting in London, Anjem Choudary, right-hand man of exiled preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, said: "It may be by pure conversion that Britain will become an Islamic state. We may never need to conquer it from the outside."
He added: "We do not integrate into Christianity. We will ensure that one day you will integrate into the Sharia Islamic law."
His comments were made as voice of hate Bakri warned that the next 9/11 would take place in the UK.
Speaking via video link the exiled cleric said Osama bin Laden had taught the Americans a ‘lesson’ seven years ago, but the ‘crusaders’ had not learned.
He said the next ‘9/11 will take place in Britain, the next 7/7 [London bombings] could take place locally’.
Bakri told a 100-strong audience of supporters in Walthamstow, east London this week that he believed the British government was trying to assassinate him and claimed to have foiled a bomb plot.
Technical difficulties meant much of his speech was inaudible, but his appearance was greeted by cheers of ‘faith’ and ‘god is great’ at the community centre.
Bakri’s right-hand man, Anjem Choudary, led the proceedings in person, under the auspices of a group called Association for Islamic Research.
The most incendiary speech was delivered by Saiful Islam, who lauded Bin Laden and al Qaeda for their ‘courage’ in retaliating against the ‘dictatorship and oppression’ of the West.
He said: ‘The blame of 9/11 belongs to no one but the American government. They are the terrorists.
'Sheikh Osama warned America numerous times, it was because of their own arrogance, because they thought they are a superpower and nobody could match them, that Sheikh Osama taught them a lesson - a lesson they still haven’t learned.’
When The Smoke is Going Down
At least 34 Interior Ministry officials were killed in Daghestan in 2008 in 96 separate attacks. The most prominent victim was Russian General Valery Lipinsky, who was gunned down on the street in Makhachkala on December 29. The Islamic militant group Shariat Jamaat claimed responsibility for that killing, which it described in a January 5 press release as "a gift from our Amir Muaz to the infidel [Russian Prime Minister Vladimir] Putin."The above excerpt is from this story which appeared in this post yesterday.
OK - this is what you need to understand here. In a roundabout way this really IS a gift from Angry Amir to Bad Vlad.
Russia (and others, us included) is not really so much interested in fighting a "war on terror" as in USING the jihad as a very convenient wedge strategically, IOW as a proxy army.
Only when the various ends intended are accomplished will they seriously engage in getting "rid" of them. And when they are no longer useful, believe me, get rid of them they will.
Excellent example of the reality of this is what Putin did in Georgia with the two MUSLIM "breakaway provinces".
This is what happens in Africa, this is what happens in the Gulf of Aden, this is what happens in Gaza, if we (The West and Russia) wanted to "stop" these things we certainly could.
The VB for example operates under a similar construct, albeit covertly and philosophically rather than so much physically, the jihad is handy, they LOVE the jihad, they USE the jihad to beard themselves in respectability, the jihad allows them an entry into Joe Average Conservative's world.
Never forget that fascists are socialists, that most of political Islam is a theologically inclined socialism / marxism, that the only difference between Fascism and Communism is three chin pubes, a pair of Trotsky glasses, the body count, and a 100 year old street grudge.
Also, never, ever forget that the the entire PLO was a KGB creation, a communist op.
And now we deal with them like they are a legit government, we call them "Fatah"
Like Vlaams Blok calls itself Vlaams Belang now & announces it is the new best friend of the Jews.
We live in the age of marketing and of BRANDING.
All the usual suspects worldwide have been busy re-branding for the last decade or so. Which does not change the essence of what they are, or what is to come.
All of it is smoke and mirrors to a degree at the highest levels, of course at street level everyone plays the game and everyone thinks it is "real"
It is none of it "real", and it is all of it too real.
In any event do not think for one second that any government on this planet is seriously fighting"jihad". They are using the jihad as a wedge to establish the Koom Bah Humbug One World MFer crap.
If they were seriously fighting jihad, it would be finished already.

WASHINGTON -- Diplomatic sources said Barack Obama has engaged several Arab intermediaries to relay messages to and from Al Qaida in the months before his elections as the 44th U.S. president. The sources said Al Qaida has offered what they termed a truce in exchange for a U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan.
"For the last few months, Obama has been receiving and sending feelers to those close to Al Qaida on whether the group would end its terrorist campaign against the United States," a diplomatic source said. "Obama sees this as helpful to his plans to essentially withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq during his first term in office."
I think John McCain might have been able to use this kind of information.
If all this is right Jimmy Carter is going to look like Bill Halsey compared to Obama.
The sources said Obama has deemed a U.S. reconciliation with the Muslim world, including Iran, his main foreign policy goal. They said the president has been aided by a coterie of Gulf Arab Muslims with ties to the Al Qaida leadership in Pakistan.
[The Washington Times reported on Jan. 30 that "Former Defense Secretary William J. Perry held a series of previously undisclosed meetings last year with a senior adviser to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to discuss Iran's nuclear program, a person familiar with the back-channel talks said [Jan. 29]. The person, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the topic, said the talks took place with Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, Mr. Ahmadinejad's closest aide, and were "discussions, not negotiations," aimed at clarifying understanding of the two sides' positions.
Again, the only way this can work out positively for the USA is if Obama's real plan is to demonstrate to the American people and the world that there CAN be nothing to discuss with such people. I seriously doubt this. I think these guys really believe their own anti Bush hype, and think kumbaya work works. I really thought Rahm Emanuel was made of harder material than this, and would NEVER allow any such truly destructive behavior or ideas to take root.
An article in Geostrategy-Direct on Nov. 19, 2008 noted that "perception, whether solidly based on reality or not, is the basis for geopolitics. And the fact is that many Muslims throughout the world perceive Barack Obama to be one of their own even though he is a professed Christian."
On his first day in office, Obama ordered the shutdown of the U.S. Navy prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which contains 245 suspected Al Qaida members. The president said he would also dismantle unspecified CIA holding centers for Al Qaida detainees.
"Now, my job is to communicate the fact that the United States has a stake in the well-being of the Muslim world, that the language we use has to be a language of respect," Obama said in an interview to the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya satellite channel on Jan. 26. "I have Muslim members of my family. I have lived in Muslim countries."
"My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy -- we sometimes make mistakes -- we have not been perfect," Obama said.
The two presidential decisions prompted calls for reconciliation by a range of leading Muslims. Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi called on the United States to launch a dialogue with Al Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden while the Al Qaida-aligned Gamiat Islamiya urged an immediate four-month ceasefire.
At this point, the sources said, Al Qaida appears divided over Obama. They said Al Qaida's No. 2 Ayman Zawahiri has regarded Obama, identified as a Muslim in much of the Arab world, as dangerous to the jihad movement, while others believe the new president was intent on ending the so-called global war on terrorism, begun in 2001. The U.S. war was sparked by Al Qaida air strikes in New York and Washington, which killed more than 3,000 Americans.
"Addressing the Islamic world, Obama said we are in need of a new direction," a statement by Gamiat leaders said. "So he is calling for adopting a new approach that differs to the blocked and irrational path that [former U.S. President George] Bush followed."
As a result, Gamiat has opposed a call by Al Qaida leader Abu Yehya Al Libi for renewed attacks on the West, particularly Britain and the United States. The Egyptian-based Islamic network warned that such attacks would force Obama to rescind his decision to close Guantanamo and resume the U.S. offensive against Al Qaida.
"These positions -- Obama announcing a diplomatic approach towards Iran and its nuclear file, his willingness to close Guantanamo Bay, and his request that judges suspend trials for four months in Guantanamo Bay -- show that there is a new opportunity that must be explored and not thrown away before making sure that it is just a mirage," Sheik Essam Derbala, a Gamiat leader, said.
The diplomatic sources said Obama's effort has been endorsed by most of the U.S. intelligence community. They said the community has assessed that Al Qaida, isolated in northwestern Pakistan, would not reemerge in Afghanistan, even under a Taliban regime.
"The United States has imposed attrition on Al Qaida, disrupting its command, control and communications and isolating it," George Friedman, a U.S. strategist and director of Stratfor, said in a report. "To avoid penetration by hostile intelligence services, Al Qaida has not recruited new cadres for its primary unit. This makes it very difficult to develop intelligence on Al Qaida, but it also makes it impossible for Al Qaida to replace its losses."
Still, Saudi Arabia has been concerned over any reconciliation between Al Qaida and the United States. The sources said Saudi King Abdullah fears that Obama's effort would legitimize Al Qaida and bolster its status in the Gulf Arab kingdom.
"Calling for a dialogue with Al Qaida alone is evidence of the extent of our shortsightedness and our failure to understand what is more of a threat to us than to the West," Tariq Al Homayed, editor of the Saudi-owned A-Sharq Al Awsat daily, said. "What we need is to tackle the threat posed by Al Qaida's ideology rather than Al Qaida members."
Al Homayed, said to be close to the Saudi leadership, envisioned a contest among Arab states to sponsor an Al Qaida-U.S. reconciliation conference. He urged the Saudi leadership to clearly oppose such an effort.
"Interaction with Washington and Obama is important, especially with regards to what concerns us," Al Homayed wrote in an editorial. "But if our reactions are going to resemble those that are mentioned above, then this will be frustrating, not for Washington, but for us, the people of the region who are hoping for a better future."
This is unbelievable.
Why didn't we just work out a truce after Bataan?
Some believe that Israel's fight is not ours and vice versa. I used to think that way myself, even after 9/11. But the charges of colonialism and imperialism, of doing evil because we are evil all lie at the heart of this war.
The leaders in the ME, many of whom by our standards are illegitimate, both serve the popular hates and ride that wave. They cannot oppose that wave because after all the years of whipping up hatred, it cannot be a legitimate stand, and would be seen as irreligious as well.
Thus to Turkey .. the first secular nation out of the Ottoman Empire and Caliphate. This nation has slowly descended back into the realms of now, not being even secular and tolerant enough to be a member of the EU. They have been, if not military allies of Israel, then seen their military realistic enough to seize the advantages of a cordial relationship with Israel. That is probably over.
Turkey hails PM as 'Conquerer of Davos' after walkout
Turkey's Prime Minister returned home to a hero's welcome this morning after storming off stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos during a heated spat over Israel's assault on Gaza.
In the most dramatic moment of this year's muted Davos conference, Recep Tayyip Erdogan walked off a panel discussion including Shimon Peres and Ban Ki-Moon after a moderator cut off his reply to a long and impassioned monologue by the Israeli President.
Mr Erdogan gathered up his belongings and marched off stage, red-faced, shouting that he would not return to Davos again as he had not been allowed to speak.
Around 3,000 supporters gathered at Istanbul's airport in the early morning, waving red and white Turkish flags and banners reading "Conqueror of Davos" as Mr Erdogan's flight back from Davos landed.
Some carried banners denouncing Israel, a worrying development for a state that counts Turkey as its closest ally in the Muslim world and relies on its role as an intermediary between it and traditional enemies such as Syria.
"I did what I had to do," Mr Erdogan told reporters. "I cannot remain apathetic when it comes to these things, it's just not in my nature. I am duty-bound to defend the honour of my country."
Mr Erdogan blamed the debate's moderator, David Ignatius of the Washington Post, for the incident, although he condemned Mr Peres's hectoring behaviour on stage.
Ignatius is not what I would call PRO ISRAEL, and he has been criticized heavily here.
Hamas, the Islamist leaders in Gaza, hailed Mr Erdogan for his "courageous stance" against Israel's war in Gaza, which killed more than 1,300 people, a third of them children.
I challenge as factual that report by the Telegraph (which was also guilty in the '1200 dead in Jenin' falsegasm.
