The Chronological Quran

The Quran that people read is wildly out of order. It is almost as if someone took the Quran, cut it into pieces, threw the pieces  into the air, and then picked them up one by one, and said, "Whatever order I pick them up in, that is now the order of the Quran."

The problem with this is, when it comes to the interpretation of the Quran, the chronology is key.

When there is a contradiction, the later verses ABROGATE, or supersede, the earlier verses.

The earlier Meccan verses are more peaceful than the later, Medinan verses, which call down curses on anyone who does not agree with the Prophet; in particular this would mean Infidels and Jews ...

... or in other words, everyone who is not a Muslim.

It is a good resource. Some of the Arabic transliteration is a bit different than what I am used to, and it must be noted that there are certain ayat that are "fox-holed" from the prior/or latter era within the Qur'an. So the Madani revelation may have a Makki ayat and vice versa. There are also a handful of ayat that are considered "couplets" coming from both the Makki and Madani eras and they compliment each other.

A couple of the choices for Surah titles are not strongly enough portrayed from the Arabic, with regard to the history portrayed, just based on my own mentorship. But then again, I studied under a Mufti.

Just a small note: The Spider is written in Arabic with reference to the female of the species. There is a reason why it is designated a female spider. Again, historical context is important.

But overall, a nice compendium and addition to any library for Qur'anic Sciences. Thanks for posting.

Jay Smith has a number of excellent Youtube videos on the fatal defects in the Quran.

Too many Westerners don't have a clue about Quranic abrogation.
