What Is Up With Gavin Newsom's Wife?
If California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom were starring in a reality television show, an apt title for it would be, The Worst White People in America. You could actually rotate quite a cast of pasty, privileged Democrats through various episodes, but California's first fascist family would always be the most awful of the bunch.
Mrs. Newsom has been popping up in the news a lot lately, and, like so many prominent Democratic women, the more I know about her, the more I dislike her. She likes to refer to herself as California's "first partner," which no doubt gives her some woke cred on the loony left but was probably inspired by the fact that her husband looks like a lesbian who just popped out of a Subaru.
At the end of last month, Chris wrote about an interview that First Partner Jenny gave a few years ago, where she described taking the Newsom kids on a tour of red states and treating the non-coastal residents like exhibits in a zoo. It was the kind of paternalistic, actually racist condescension that white Dem elites ooze 24/7. The Newsoms manage to ooze twice as much of it.

Without any instruction, the 30-billion-parameter model began probing internal networks, established a reverse SSH tunnel from an Alibaba Cloud instance to an external IP address, and quietly diverted GPU capacity toward cryptocurrency mining. The task instructions contained no mention of tunneling or mining. Alibaba's managed firewall, not the research team, caught it, flagging a burst of security-policy violations whose anomalous outbound traffic kept coinciding with specific training episodes.
The paper, titled "Let It Flow," landed on arXiv on December 31, 2025, New Year’s Eve , credited to Weixun Wang and 89 co-authors at Alibaba. Nobody noticed. Then on March 6, 2026, ML researcher Alexander Long posted a screenshot of the safety findings on X and called it an "insane sequence of statements buried in an Alibaba tech report." That post pulled 1.7 million views. Ryan Adams, co-founder of crypto media company Bankless, picked it up hours later. The AI safety and crypto communities have been fighting about it ever since.

The Two Wars for Iran: The War in a Historical Context
The administration needs to counter left-wing and far-right hysteria about the supposedly undue influence of Israel.
Israel and the U.S. have many shared agendas—not all, but many—and weakening Iran in this operation is certainly at the top of their shared list. We realize that because we are powerful and at a distance from Iran, while Israel is nearer and more vulnerable, it will, from time to time, have different views of and solutions to Iran’s existential threats and must operate for its own national self-interest, as we do for our own.
But when our national interests dovetail—no terrorist entity has killed more Americans in the last half-century than has Iran—then we are proud and lucky to partner with Israel, a democracy and free society with a formidable record of military competency and a larger air force than any of our NATO partners—including Turkey, France, the UK, and Germany.
Despite the frenzy, the military side of the operation has gone particularly well, often conducted in brilliant fashion. But the hysterical politics of the war have been dangerous to the degree that it now threatens the very mission itself.

President Trump on Tuesday suggested that he will withdraw troops from the Middle East and force Europe, Asia, and the Gulf nations to deal with Iran’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after they refused his calls for help.
President Trump previously asked NATO and Asia for help securing the Strait, but they refused.
“The U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” Trump said in a statement on Monday, offering to supply oil from the United States if the countries cannot “build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.”
He added. “Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”
All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. When Trump tells the UK to "go to the Strait and just TAKE IT," the surface read is that he's venting at allies who didn't show up.
But the deeper move is priming the the public (and world) with a new mental frame: the Strait of Hormuz is not Iranian sovereign territory anymore.
It's available real estate. It's takeable. Anyone with courage can have it.
That's a massive Overton Window shift delivered, in a tweet, as an insult to the UK.
A year ago "America controls the Strait of Hormuz" sounded like some twisted fantasy. Today Trump is telling Britain to go grab it themselves like it's a parking spot.
In a few weeks, Trump has normalized the concept of Western control over the Strait so thoroughly that full US seizure now looks like the modest option compared to what he's suggesting allies do on their own. This is intentional.
The persuasion mechanics here are priming plus pre-selling. Whatever the eventual deal includes (US Navy permanent presence, joint patrols, Iranian withdrawal from mining infrastructure) the public will accept it because Trump already told them the Strait is there for the taking. Your subconscious mind has already been primed to accept it.
This "psychological baseline" is going to influence Trump-Iran negotiations. Best believe it.
"The hard part is done" works the same way. He's managing public fatigue.
It translates to "we won, relax, this is cleanup".
This keeps approval from eroding while the Pakistan talks drag through April.
Trump isn't describing reality. He's installing it.
Say the Strait is takeable enough times and it becomes takeable in the public mind.
It's been 10 years of Trump and he still leaves me in awe with his persuasion.
