MSNBC is expected to announce big lineup changes coming to the network, as first reported last week. In an attempt to climb out of its disastrous ratings slump, the network is canceling three liberal programs and replacing them with straight news and breaking news coverage.
The coming line up change was first reported last week by Mediaite. Shows being canceled outright include The Cycle, a multiple-host show similar to Fox’s The Five, Now with Alex Wagner, and The Ed Show. Politico reports that MSNBC President Phil Griffin is expected to make the formal announcement as soon as Thursday.
Not all of the hosts of the three canceled shows are leaving. Alex Wagner is expected to remain with the network as is Ari Melber, one of the co-hosts of The Cycle. However, TV Newser reports that Ed Schultz, Abby Huntsman, Toure, and Krystal Ball are “out.” Keep reading…
Scattered around the U.S. Capitol complex are a series of Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facilities, or SCIFs, which are typically used to hold Top Secret information.
But today in these deeply secure settings are a series of unclassified documents—items dealing with the Iran nuclear deal that are not secret, but that the Obama administration is nevertheless blocking the public from reading.
The Obama administration delivered 18 documents to Congress on July 19, in accordance with legislation requiring a Congressional review of the nuclear deal.
Only one of these documents is classified, while the remaining 17 are unclassified.
Yet many of these unclassified documents cannot be shared with the public or discussed openly with the press.
The protocol for handling these documents, set by the State Department and carried out by Congress, is that these unreleased documents can only be reviewed ‘in camera’—a Latin term that means only those with special clearance can read them—and must be held in various Congressional SCIFs.
Most staffers were hesitant to discuss—let alone share—a number of these documents, even though they’re not classified, because they require security clearances to view.
By mixing a classified document with unclassified documents, critics of this arrangement contend, important facts are being kept from the public just as Congress is deciding whether to support or oppose the Iran deal.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is running for the Democratic nomination for president, represents everything wrong with the populist redistributist left. Channeling his inner Hugo Chavez in an interview with CNBC, Sanders bemoaned the choice of deodorant and sneakers in this country, because children are starving.
You can't just continue growth for the sake of growth in a world in which we are struggling with climate change and all kinds of environmental problems. All right? You don't necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country. I don't think the media appreciates the kind of stress that ordinary Americans are working on.
Sanders, of course, is mistaken on the fundamentals. Economic growth is not a goal for the sake of itself—economic growth ignited by the freeing of markets has lifted more people out of poverty in the last century than any other force in history. Choices in the market contribute that improvement of the human condition—not just because 23 choices of deodorant mean more jobs than one choice of deodorant but because in a very real sense more choices mean more wealth. Bernie Sanders and those attracted to his economically illiterate, anti-capitalist rhetoric live in a world where working conditions haven't changed since the 19th century, where the United States is perpetually one tax or spending cut away from collapsing into Mad Max style chaos.
Sanders peddles in the brand of populism where the wealthy are openly villainized, but he's careful not to say he begrudges Hillary Clinton for pulling in six figures a speech (for her insight, of course, not her political connections). He may be hedging his comments because he sees Clinton as vastly better than any Republican alternative, or he may be hedging his comments because he career hopes are for a similar speaking circuit. Here's the relevant exchange from CNBC:
HARWOOD: It came out in disclosure forms the other day that Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, in the last 16 months, have made $30 million. What does that kind of money do to a politician's perspective on the struggles you were just talking about? Does it make it difficult for recipients of that kind of income to take on the system?
SANDERS: Well, theoretically, you could be a multibillionaire and, in fact, be very concerned about the issues of working people. Theoretically, that's true.
I think sometimes what can happen is that—it's not just the Clintons—when you hustle money like that, you don't sit in restaurants like this. You sit in restaurants where you're spending—I don't know what they spend—hundreds of dollars for dinner and so forth. That's the world that you're accustomed to, and that's the world view that you adopt.
While official Washington remain focused on the deal President Barack Obama just cut with the ayatollahs that gives them $150 billion and a guaranteed nuclear arsenal within a decade, Obama has already moved on – to Syria.
Obama’s first hope was to reach a deal with his Iranian friends that would leave the Assad regime in place. But the Iranians blew him off.
They know they don’t need a deal with Obama to secure their interests.
Obama will continue to help them to maintain their power base in Syria though Hezbollah and the remains of the Assad regime without a deal.
Iran’s cold shoulder didn’t stop Obama. He moved on to his Sunni friend Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
Like the Iranians, since the war broke out, Erdogan has played a central role in transforming what started out as a local uprising into a regional conflict between Sunni and Shiite jihadists.
With Obama’s full support, by late 2012 Erdogan had built an opposition dominated by his totalitarian allies in the Muslim Brotherhood.
By mid-2013, Erdogan’s Muslim Brotherhood- led coalition was eclipsed by al-Qaida spinoffs. They also enjoyed Turkish support.
And when last summer ISIS supplanted al-Qaida as the dominant Sunni jihadist force in Syria, it did so with Erdogan’s full backing.
For the past 18 months, Turkey has been ISIS’s logistical, political and economic base.
According to Brett McGurk, the State Department’s point man on ISIS, about 25,000 foreign fighters have joined ISIS in Syria and Iraq. All of them transited through Turkey.
Most of the antiquities that ISIS plunders in Iraq and Syria make their way to the world market through Turkey. So, too, most of the oil that ISIS produces in Syria and Iraq is smuggled out through Turkey.
According to the US Treasury, ISIS has made $1 million-$4m. a day from oil revenue.
In May, US commandos in Syria assassinated Abu Sayyaf, ISIS’s chief money manager, and arrested his wife and seized numerous computers and flash drives from his home.
According to a report in The Guardian published last week, the drives provided hard evidence of official Turkish economic collusion with ISIS.
Due to Turkish support, ISIS has become a self-financing terrorist group. With its revenue stream it is able to maintain a welfare state regime, attracting recruits from abroad and securing the loyalty of local Sunni militias and former Ba’athist forces.
Some Western officials believed that after finding hard evidence of Turkish regime support for ISIS, NATO would finally change its relationship with Turkey. To a degree they were correct.
Last week, Obama cut a deal with Erdogan that changes the West’s relationship with Erdogan.
Instead of maintaining its current practice of balancing its support for Turkey with its support for the Kurds, under the agreement, the West ditches its support for the Kurds and transfers its support to Turkey exclusively.
At the end of June McLennan County, the ethical cesspool that surrounds Waco, hired a good old local boy attorney named David Deaconson to represent Justice of the Peace W.H. “Pete” Peterson.
Peterson is the mooncalf who decided to charge 177, or 182, people he knew nothing about with engaging in organized criminal activity in order “to send a message.” No. No rational person knew what he was talking about.
In an interview with the Waco Tribune-Herald, he sort of explained, “We had nine people killed in our community. These people just came in, and most of them were from out of town. Very few of them were from in town.”
There is no need to speculate why Peterson might need a lawyer. Waco will explain that very soon, right after it releases the video and ballistics evidence and the autopsy reports.
At the time the County hired Deaconson (photo above), he claimed defense lawyers were “harassing” Peterson. He announced he was giving the county a break on price by charging only $250 an hour instead of his usual $280.
Deaconson is also the City Attorney for the grim Waco suburb of Lacy Lakeview and an adjunct professor for Baylor University School of Law where he teaches the art of the “mock trial.”
According to the Tribune-Herald, Deaconson is serving as a “liaison” between “biker defense attorneys” and “the courts.” Whatever that turns out to mean, it may come as a surprise to most of the defense attorneys.

Mohammed Ali, 31, attempted to purchase the chemical weapon over the ‘dark web’ from his home in Liverpool.
But the software programmer didn’t realise that his supplier was an FBI agent who tipped off police in the UK and sent him harmless powder.
Under the username Weirdos 0000, Ali struck a deal with a supplier on the internet black market to buy 500mg of powder for £320 – enough to kill 1,400 people.
The dad-of-two took delivery of the powder stashed inside five vials hidden inside a battery compartment Police then swooped on his home and arrested him under anti-terror laws.
Ultraviolet light revealed Ali had handled the package which had been laced with a marker substance.
Ali held his head in his hands as he was found guilty of attempting to have a chemical weapon in his possession at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
He will be sentenced in September and faces a lengthy spell behind bars.
The court heard Ali approached the undercover agent in January with a private message: “Hi, would you be able to make me some ricin and send it to the UK?”
In a series of encrypted chats they discussed the price of a lethal dose, discounts for bulk orders and repeat purchases, and ricin’s “shelf life”, jurors were told.
In his defence, Ali told jurors that he was just “curious” and wanted to test the boundaries of the Dark Web unaware that ricin was illegal.
He told the jury: “I was interested in the Dark Net and ricin. I just wanted to know what the fuss was about.[“]
But prosecutor Sally Howes QC said Ali was a “chancer” who lied to police about having ricin when he was arrested in the hope that he would “get away with it”.
And everything about his conduct pointed to a man who carefully and meticulously researched and carried out a plan to buy ricin.
Ms Howes told the jury that ricin was the “perfect poison” because it killed without leaving a trace in the body.
Ali had ordered enough to kill up to 1,400 people, although his potential targets were not known.
Justice Saunders said: “There is no evidence that he was planning any sort of terrorist attack.
“There is also no evidence that he had in mind any specific victims for ricin. I do not accept he was going to dispose of it.
“I’m satisfied it would have remained in his possession in some way and that is the basis on which I propose to sentence.”
At one point, a buyer asked, “What was that? A crack, was that the just the little bits of the skull?” to which they casually responded, “Mhmm.”
Ginde, later looking at the dish proclaimed, “It’s a baby” and pointed out the heart.
The medical assistant also chimed in at one point: “My fingers will smush it if I try to get it out” and laughed over the dead baby, deeming the intact parts worthy of “five stars.”
Ginde also recognized a baby brain “blasted out” with water, and noted she sometimes doesn’t use water, so that the parts aren’t as “war-torn.”
The video ended with one Planned Parenthood medical assistant announcing: “Another boy!”

You know, these past 6 or 7 years, I've found myself wondering why America, and the West in general, is so willing to just capitulate to Islam.
Now I think I know why.
Islam's god, Allah is an angry flesh-hungry god. I've often said, Allah is Moloch. I say this because Moloch demanded to be fed on the flesh of human beings.
Here we see a Vice President of Planned Parenthood casually talking about the procurement of the flesh of babies, and the coordination (at the CEO level) of said procurement across the entire United States.
And here in America, we twice-elected a President who effusively proclaims his gratitude to Planned Parenthood, declaring,
He is asking his god to bless an organization which very likely spends the bulk of it's funds aborting fetuses/babies, not cutting off the providing of abortion services, until the baby has actually exited the body of the woman who carried it.
He confidently asks his god to bless this organization, because his god is hungry for the body parts of babies, and it is a certainty in his mind that Planned Parenthood is doing god's work.
And, as I said, We the People elected this man, TWICE. Barack Obama expresses our national will.
It is becoming patently obvious that our god is no different from Allah, from Moloch, or any other god, by any other name, who is hungry for the blood and flesh of innocents.
Mystery solved. This is why America is capitulating, surrendering, handing over our hearts and minds, piece by piece to the god of Islam.
Because there is not much difference between our god and theirs, when it comes right down to it.
One word that has been central to our foreign policy for over a century is “colonialism.” Rather than describing a historical phenomenon––with all the complexity, mixture of good and evil, and conflicting motives found on every page of history––“colonialism” is now an ideological artifact that functions as a crude epithet.
As a result, our foreign policy decisions are deformed by self-loathing and guilt eagerly exploited by our adversaries.
The great scholar of Soviet terror, Robert Conquest, noted this linguistic corruption decades ago. Historical terms like “imperialism” and “colonialism,” Conquest wrote, now refer to “a malign force with no program but the subjugation and exploitation of innocent people.”
As such, these terms are verbal “mind-blockers and thought-extinguishers,” which serve “mainly to confuse, and of course to replace, the complex and needed process of understanding with the simple and unneeded process of inflammation.”
Particularly in the Middle East, “colonialism” has been used to obscure the factual history that accounts for that region’s chronic dysfunctions, and has legitimized policies doomed to fail because they are founded on distortions of that history.
The simplistic discrediting of colonialism and its evil twin imperialism became prominent in the early twentieth century. In 1902 J.A. Hobson’s influential Imperialism: A Study reduced colonialism to a malign economic phenomenon, the instrument of capitalism’s “economic parasites,” as Hobson called them, who sought resources, markets, and profits abroad. In 1917, Vladimir Lenin, faced with the failure of classical Marxism’s historical predictions of the proletarian revolution, in 1917 built on Hobson’s ideas in Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism. Now the indigenous colonized peoples would perform the historical role of destroying capitalism that the European proletariat had failed to fulfill.

Whether it was the Romans in Gaul, the Arabs throughout the Mediterranean and Southern Asia, the Huns in Eastern Europe, the Mongols in China, the Turks in the Middle East and the Balkans, the Bantu in southern Africa, the Khmer in East Asia, the Aztecs in Mexico, the Iroquois in the Northeast, or the Sioux throughout the Great Plains, human history has been stained by man’s continual use of brutal violence to acquire land and resources and destroy or replace those possessing them.
Scholars may find subtle nuances of evil in the European version of this ubiquitous aggression, but for the victims such fine discriminations are irrelevant.
Yet this ideologically loaded and historically challenged use of words like “colonial” and “colonialist” remains rife in analyses of the century-long disorder in the Middle East. Both Islamists and Arab nationalists, with sympathy from the Western left, have blamed the European “colonialists” for the lack of development, political thuggery, and endemic violence whose roots lie mainly in tribal culture, illiberal shari’a law, and sectarian conflicts.
Moreover, it is blatant hypocrisy for Arab Muslims to complain about imperialism and colonialism. As Middle East historian Efraim Karsh documents in Islamic Imperialism, “The Arab conquerors acted in a typically imperialist fashion from the start, subjugating indigenous populations, colonizing their lands, and expropriating their wealth, resources, and labor.”
Indeed, if one wants to find a culture defined by imperialist ambitions, Islam fits the bill much better than do Europeans and Americans, latecomers to the great game of imperial domination that Muslims successfully played for a thousand years.
“From the first Arab-Islamic empire of the mid-seventh century to the Ottomans, the last great Muslim empire,” Karsh writes, “the story of Islam has been the story of the rise and fall of universal empires and, no less important, of imperialist dreams.”
Many of you have patiently followed my rants and ravings on the unemployment situation in America (especially my own) for nearly six years now.
My wife was working full time at a non-profit and teaching yoga classes at night.
I finally landed a part time position at the local big box retailer.
While things were not exactly getting better or turning around, they had settled into a very chaotic groove with which I could work.
Then today, without warning, my wife was let go from her position. "Not passionate enough about your work". (translation -- she has worked six years for a non-profit that advocated for the disabled and she was one of only two non-disabled there. The other, twenty years her junior, had her position before my wife had vacated the office).
Still reeling I have no idea what I am going to do next. Nor how much I'll be able to post in the near term.
You see, there are NINE MORE VIDEOS COMING, each one more damning than the next. So, they believe they have to put a stop to it, even if what they are doing is immoral, unfair, un-Constitutional, un-Reasonable, and idiotic.

A temporary restraining order has been issued preventing an anti-abortion group from releasing any video of leaders of a California company that provides fetal tissue to researchers.
The group is the same one that previously shot viral covert video of a Planned Parenthood leader discussing the sale of aborted fetuses for research.
The Los Angeles Superior Court order issued Tuesday prohibits the Center for Medical Progress from releasing any video of three high-ranking StemExpress officials taken at a restaurant in May.
It appears to be the first legal action prohibiting the release of a video from the organization.
The Center for Medical Progress has released three surreptitiously recorded videos to date that have riled anti-abortion activists.
The Senate is expected to vote before its August recess on a Republican effort to bar federal aid to Planned Parenthood in the aftermath of the videos’ release.
In a statement Wednesday, center leader David Daleiden said StemExpress was using “meritless litigation” to cover up an “illegal baby parts trade.”
“The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work,” he said.
StemExpress is a Placerville-based company started in 2010 that provides human tissue, blood and other specimens to researchers. Planned Parenthood is one of the company’s providers of fetal tissue.
