AURORA, Colo. — Alexandria Dowell met Ariel Cruz Penton while on vacation in Miami. The moment they met, Dowell said it felt like they had known each other for years.
Suddenly, it was more than a vacation. Dowell began wondering if she had found her person.
By the end of 2022, Dowell and Penton were married. Soon, they shared a home in Aurora with their 2-year-old daughter.
"He's my world," Dowell told Scripps News Denver Monday. "He's just so thoughtful. He's a hardworking man and we're a team... He really pushes me to follow my dreams and anything that I want to accomplish, so I couldn't ask for anything else."Now, Dowell fears her family will be torn apart after Penton, who is from Cuba, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on June 10.Dowell said on that day, Penton was heading off to work. He dropped off their daughter with the babysitter before he was detained, according to Dowell."I found out probably an hour later. I finally was able to get a message from him saying that he had been detained by ICE and I was freaking out because I was at work and I didn't know what to do," Dowell recalled."We had our immigration check-in three weeks prior, so I had every indication to think that we were going to be fine... An immigration check-in is something that you do yearly, and they just make sure that you're still in good standing, no recent criminal activity. All of your information is up to date in the system, and then once you get the green light, then they'll give you another date for a future time to come back in and do another check-in."
According to ICE, Penton was arrested due to a final order of removal that was issued by an immigration judge in 2019. A spokesperson with ICE told Scripps News Denver that Penton entered the country illegally near El Paso, Texas, on May 30, 2019.
"He holds a valid work permit. He does have an order for deportation because when he entered the US, he did come in at the border, presented himself, pleaded political asylum," Dowell explained. "They granted his credible fear interview to him. So, they gave him the political asylum, and then ICE forced him to sign papers, he had no idea what he was signing, and gave up his right for parole as well as political asylum, and then was given an order for deportation."

"The Trump administration specifically said that they're going after criminals, and my husband's not a criminal. He doesn't even have a speeding ticket to his name," Dowell said. "We own a home. We are a family. I'm US-born. My daughter's US-born. We pay our taxes. We do everything by the book... Every single day, I'm scared for his life. I'm scared for what that means for my family, and I don't know what the next steps are going to be."

The CIA’s own review lays out, in damning detail, how former CIA Director John Brennan, former DNI James Clapper, and former FBI Director James Comey took “unusual” and direct control over the infamous Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that became the cornerstone of the Russia collusion hoax.
Let’s be clear about what this means. These men didn’t just oversee the process—they commandeered it, sidelining career intelligence professionals and shutting out 13 of the 17 intelligence agencies from the assessment. Brennan handpicked the analysts, ensuring only the most compliant voices had a say. The National Intelligence Council, the body normally responsible for such crucial reports, was shoved aside. Why? Because the outcome was predetermined: manufacture a narrative that Trump was a Russian asset, no matter how flimsy the evidence.
The review identified “multiple procedural anomalies” that undermined the credibility of the ICA, including “a highly compressed production timeline, stringent compartmentation, and excessive involvement of agency heads.”
It also questioned the exclusion of key intelligence agencies and said media leaks may have influenced analysts to conform to a false narrative of Trump-Russia collusion.
“The rushed timeline to publish both classified and unclassified versions before the presidential transition raised questions about a potential political motive behind the White House tasking and timeline.”
The review found that Brennan directed the compilation of the ICA, and that his, Comey’s and Clapper’s “direct engagement in the ICA’s development was highly unusual in both scope and intensity” and ”risked stifling analytic debate.”

MSNBC and CNN suffered staggering losses in viewership over the past year -- while Donald Trump's ascendancy supercharged Fox News in the cable news ratings war.
The left-leaning networks -- which will both be spun off by their respective parent companies -- suffered year-over-year declines in all major metrics for the second quarter compared to the same period last year, according to the latest Nielsen data, which was reported by AdWeek.
Comcast-owned MSNBC, with its rabid anti-Trump lineup of anchors, drew an average 1.008 million primetime viewers from April to June, a year-over-year decline of 15%, Nielsen figures show.
In the the advertiser-covered 25-to-54 demographic, primetime viewership plunged 20%, to 91,000 compared to last year -- despite star anchor Rachel Maddow returning to full-time duty during the first 100 days of the Trump administration.
Jen Psaki took over her 9 p.m. primetime slot Tuersdays through Fridays midway through the second quarter ratings period.
The exodus of eyeballs was even worse during the day, with total viewership plummeting 26%, to an average of 596,000, and 31%, to 57,000, in the key demo compared to the same quarter last year.
CNN, which has languished in last place despite paying anchor Anderson Cooper a reported $18 million in salary, averaged 538,000 total viewers in primetime for the three-month period and 105,000 in the demo, according to Nielsen
Year-over-year, the network saw declines of 13% in total viewers in primetime and a 15% drop in the 25-54 demo.
The cable news pioneer, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, dropped 14% in total viewers during the day, to an average of 406,000, and 16% in the demo, to 71,000, year-over-year, according to Nielsen.

Jaguar's European sales plummeted by 97.5% and year-to-date figures show a 75.1% decline in sales, with just 2,665 units sold from January to April 2025.
