Bonus Tune!
Unbeknownst to me there is video of the concert I talked about below all over You tube (search Zawinul Lugano). So here's Joe & his Zawinul Syndicate on his 75th birthday performing
Zawinul used to play out here in LA at least once a year. In the last few years of his life, I saw him quite a few times. He was incredible. In his seventies, his music was still vital and innovative, as is evidenced by this video. Some of the greatest musicians in the world, like Paco Serry and Richard Bona were still forgoing bigger paydays to play with the great Zawinul.
He was a magisterial talent.
His album Faces and Places, which he recorded around 2003, or so, was among the best work of his life, right up there with Heavy Weather, Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way, Sweetnighter, Mysterious Traveller, or any of the others.
I know this is not related to the post, but could you please stop with that automatic background music? Its getting kind of annoying, and it distracts me while I'm trying to watch videos on this sight, and I'll bet that other people feel the same way.
Damien -- Lower right hand corner of the logo area there is a stop the music button. Turns it right off (in red a little hard to see once the logo starts appearing but it is there)

If more people object, we'll get rid of it.
By the way, Damien. I don't blame you for being irritated. If you don't like the music, then it would be very irritating.
I don't like music at web sites. But, we discussed this, and we thought this music actually enhances the message of the site.
As I said, if others complain, we will remove it.
