The Muslim Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Schoolgirls on violent rampage in Mecca

DUBAI - The principal of the Mecca girls school where hundreds students when on a violent rampage and took her hostage has described how rioters threatened to kill her during the siege, the Saudi Gazette reported on Wednesday.

Hasna al-Ghafari, headmistress of the 17th Intermediate Girls’ School, said she was “viciously attacked” by some 500 students after confiscating camera phones and other illegal items, the local daily reported.

Ghafari said angry students threw shoes, books and pens at her and that she was forced to flee to her office and barricade the door for her own protection, the newspaper said.

“I was viciously attacked by 500 pupils because I’d done searches during which I confiscated mobile telephone-cameras and a locked mobile phone suspected of containing illicit recordings and images,” she was quoted as saying.

“They were refusing to be searched and they went to the home economics classroom and starting smashing it up.

“When I went to see what was going on they started attacking me, throwing shoes, books and pens at me. I was forced to run away and lock myself in my office for protection.”

Police were forced to call in jail wardens from a nearby women’s prison to break up Monday’s riot and rescue the principal.

Of course, they had to call in wardens from the women's prison, because men aren't allowed to touch women in Saudi Arabia.

What a fucking backward cesspool that country is.

"What a fucking backward cesspool..

I suppose we can take some satisfaction that at least in this case, the girls' violent behavior appears to have been directed toward redressing a little of that backwardness. (i.e. they weren't ripping some teacher limb from limb for inadvertently sneezing a dried booger into an open Snoran)

Yeah, like I said, they just want to have fun. They want cell phones. they want to be able to text each other pictures and stuff like that.

They want the right to communicate. And, they're willing to fight for it.

Can't you just imagine that emburqa'd Nurse Ratchet of a teacher when the shoes started flying.

It may also have a lot to do with the fact that a girl was recently sentenced to 50 lashes for having a cellphone. Or the fact that when the school burned down two years ago the religious police stopped them leaving the burning building because they were not wearing a burqa. I think 20 or 30 of them burned to death
